Services for Edgar "Ed" Whitehead, 57, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Ropesville with Chaplain Lane Redding and the Rev. Greg Finch, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Whitehead died Friday, Oct. 3, 1997, at his residence.

He was born July 8, 1940, in Ropesville. He married Donna K. Anderson on March 17, 1983, in Lubbock. He was a Baptist. He moved to Lubbock from Ropesville.

He was a mechanic, and he worked for the Ropesville Independent School District, Anton Independent School District, BYOB Water Store and Andy's Ice Cream.

Survivors include his wife; seven sons, Terry Miller, Tommy Burkhead, Jerry McDannels and Andy McDannels, all of Lubbock, Edward Whitehead of Levelland, Earl Miller of Ropesville and Robert Adams of Littlefield; four daughters, Tammy Kirkland of Littlefield, Vicki Castillo of Anton, Patricia McDaniels of Baytown and Lisa Woolums of Lefors; his mother, Hester Whitehead of Ropesville; a sister, Georgia Cox of Wolfforth; three brothers, Edwin of Denton and Maurice and Harrell, both of Ropesville; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Family Hospice of the South Plains.
