L.E. Whitehead

Services for L.E. ``Doc'' Whitehead, 82, of Ropesville will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Ropesville with the Rev. Gregory Kinch, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

Whitehead died Thursday, Jan. 16, 1997, at Methodist Hospital.

He was born Feb. 9, 1914, in Hasse. He was a former Lubbock and Ralls resident. He married Hester Shindler on March 25, 1932, in Silverton. He was a member of Ropesville First Baptist Church.

He was a retired farmer and auto mechanic. A son died in 1934.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Edgar of Lubbock, Edwin of Denton and Maurice and Harrell Gene, both of Ropesville; a daughter, Georgia Cox of Wolfforth; 18 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
