The land for this cemetery was deeded to the Christian Church of Wayland (defunct) in 1889. The cemetery is located on land purchased by Dr. Benjamin Winchester Lauderdale in 1891 and remains in this family today. Dr. Lauderdale was a surgeon in the Confederate Army and Minister of the First Christian Church of Breckenridge 1890- 1896.The cemetery became known as The Lauderdale Cemetery. Lauderdale descendants continue to be buried here. There are approximately 21 graves. The earliest burial July 5, 1882.
