GREENVILLE, Texas, June 16--George W. Maddox, 84 years old, confederate veteran and a resident of Greenville since 1880, died at his home here Wednesday, following a stroke of apoplexy Saturday.

Mr. Maddos served throughout the Civil War with the crack Fourteenth Mississippi Infantry, and local Confederates claim him for the distinction of being in more battles than any other veteran in texas.

He is survived by his son, O. S. Maddox, and a daughter, Miss Efie Maddos. Funeral Services will be held from his home, 2704 Washington street, Thursday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Charles W. Hearon and the Rev. A. A. Duncan.
