Outstanding Newsletter by Texas State Genealogical Society
The Irving
Genealogical Society was chartered in 1991 as a non-profit Texas
corporation for the purpose of promoting genealogical research. We
strive to bring people together to share information and research
methods. Through our award winning monthly newsletter, we try to keep
members informed in all areas of research, as well as notify researchers
of area workshops and seminars. Since its inception the Society has
sponsored several seminars and workshops at the Irving Public Library.
Proceeds from these seminars and workshops have resulted in donations of
microfilm, microfiche, as well as numerous books to the library. With
these additions, the Genealogy Section of Irving's library has one of
the area's better census microfilm collections for libraries of its'
size. Proceeds from seminars held at the Library will continue to
enhance the genealogical resource collection.
The Irving
Genealogical Society Newsletter is a monthly publication featuring
articles of general interest in genealogical research, book reviews,
queries and area events information. The Newsletter is mailed to all
members, libraries across the country, as well as genealogical societies
in Texas and other states. Articles and queries will be published free
as space permits. You do not have to be a member to submit and article
or query for publication. The Editor reserves the right to edit any
article or query, and will not publish anything of a controversial
nature. The Society is not responsible for the correctness of any
information submitted.
