Cavet Chapter USD 1812
 
HISTORY
The John Cavet
Chapter, United States Daughter of 1812, was organized in Pennsylvania
on 15 March 1915 and was named in honor of the ancestor of the
Organizing President, Mrs. A. V. Lane, who was at the time President
of the Texas Society, United States Daughters of 1812. Mrs. Lane
called together seventeen other eligible ladies for the purpose
of organizing this chapter dedicated to the memory of our soldier
Ancestors.
John Cavet, son
of John and Margaret Cavet, was born ia in 1770. He was a private
in the Pennsylvania Militia under Captain William Johnson and
General Cook during the War of 1812. He married Jean Ann McKean
about 1792. Their daughter, Margaret Cavet married John Hughey,
from whom Mrs. A. V. Lane, Organizing President descended.
