Funeral services for Evelyn Dardeau Garrett,
82, of Orange, will be held Tuesday September
21, 2004, at 10:00 a.m., at the First
Presbyterian Church in Orange with Reverend Sam
Knight of the First Presbyterian Church in
Orange officiating. Interment will follow at
Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange. Visitation
will begin Monday at 5:00 p.m. at Claybar
Funeral Home in Orange. Mrs. Garrett was born
December 9, l921 in Daisetta, TX and died
September 17, 2004 in Beaumont, TX. A resident
of Orange since 1925, she was a member of the
First Presbyterian Church in Orange. She was
retired from DuPont in Orange where she worked
as a clerk for 27 years. She was a member of the
Red Hat Society, Women's Maritime Club,
Southwest Louisiana Genealogical Society, Y
Singles of Jefferson County, Port Arthur
Christian Women's Club, DuPont Sabine Riverworks
Retirees, Christian Women's Club of Orange and
the Order of the Eastern Star. Her husband, Don
L. Garrett and parents, H. Jack and Estelle
Dardeau preceded her in death. She is survived
by her daughter & son-in-law, Carolyn & Melvin
Hogan of Orange; son & daughter-in-law, David &
Julie Garrett of Austin, TX; daughter, Debbie
Garrett King of Dayton, TX; sister, Hazel Smith
of Orange; seven grandchildren, Taura DeDiego,
Holli Landry, Lee Bordelon, Jay Bordelon, Emily
Garrett, Paul Garrett and Allison Garrett; and
eight great-grandchildren, Shea, Shon, Shaina,
Quaid, Kayla, Allie, Griffin and Jaymes. Serving
as pallbearers will be Bill Adams, Bobby Smith,
Dr. Richard "Dicky" Smith, Steve Garrett, Alan
Garrett, Billy Ralph Garrett, Jack Garrett, Mike
Garrett, Dr. Marty Garrett and Charles Garrett.
Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Dr. Gary

| Goodwin, Josephine Frances George |
Josephine Frances George Goodwin, 88 died
peacefully in Beaumont, TX on September 17,
2004. Jo was born March 23, 1916 in Iowa Park,
TX to Nell and Will George. She received her
undergraduate degree at TWU and completed her
masters at NYU. In 1944, she married Jake Joseph
Goodwin, Jr., a Longview dentist. She was a
member of the Junior League of Longview, the
Thelma Morgan Class of First United Methodist
Church, the House and Garden Club, and the Texas
Dental Auxiliary. Jo will be remembered for her
gentle, sweet spirit, her love of sports,
gardening, her famous chocolate sheet cake,
Thanksgivings, Easter egg hunts, her sense of
humor and her love of life. Her positive outlook
influenced all who knew her and she will be
greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her
husband Jake, her sisters Catherine Knox and
Hazel Larimer and her brother William (Dutch)
George. She is survived by her children William
J. Goodwin and wife Margo, Robert P. Goodwin and
wife Stephanie, all of Dallas and Sarah Goodwin
Ussery of Beaumont; 6 grandchildren, Grady
Goodwin, M.D., Tracy Goodwin Flint and husband
Robb, Emily Goodwin, Lisa Goodwin Palmer and
husband Stokes, Elizabeth Ussery and fiancé Paul
Powell, Fred Ussery, one great-grandson Cooper
Flint and her sisters Willie Mae Hardage Estes
and husband Pete and Nell Johnson and husband
Wes, sister-in-law Francis George and

Stella Floyd Goodwin, 88, of Orange, died
Monday, September 13, 2004, at her home. Funeral
services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, at Claybar
Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Reverend Keith
Royal, pastor of Winfree Baptist Church, will
officiate. An Eastern Star service will follow
under the auspices of Chapter #214, Order of the
Easter Star. Burial will follow at Hillcrest
Memorial Gardens in Orange. Visitation will
begin at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral
home in Orange. Stella, a long time resident of
the Orange area, was born in Edgerly, Louisiana
on June 7, 1916, to parents, Cleveland and
Louise Laughlin Floyd. She was a real estate
agent and a member of the Order of the Eastern
Star, Chapter #214 in Orange. She married Zeno
Edward Goodwin on October 17, 1933. They
celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last
year. She was preceded in death by her parents;
daughter, Carol and two brothers, Vernon and
Jack Floyd. Survivors include her husband, Zeno
Goodwin; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and
Marilee Goodwin; sister and brother-in-law, Lois
and Tommy McMillan; brother, Carl Floyd;
grandchildren and spouses, Rick and Cindy
Broussard, Sandy Mello, Paul and Jennifer
Broussard and Carl Broussard; great
granddaughters, Jaime, Holly, Natalie, Laura,

Marguerite Elma Gregory, 95, died Friday, December 10, 2004 at
Gulf Health Care in Port Arthur Texas.
She was born March 22, 1909. She has resided in Port Arthur for
five years and was a life long resident of Pleasanton, Texas.
Graveside services will be Monday, December 13, 2004 at 11:00 AM
in the Pelasanton City Cemetery, Pleasanton, Texas.
There will be no visitation.
Mrs. Gregory is survived by one nephew, Al Mustin of Austin, Texas
and a special friend Dolly Henry of Port Neches, Texas. |

Fred Watts Griffin, 9l, of Port Arthur, Texas died Tuesday, November
23, 2004.
Fred was born on October 5, l9l3 in Bullard, Texas to William Frank
Griffin and Alitia Watts. He was a resident of Port Arthur since l93l
and was a retired machinist from Texaco, Inc. with 42 years of service.
He was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church and lifetime member
of VFW #797 and American Legion Post #7. He was a U.S. Army veteran
during World War II.
Funeral services will be at 10:00a.m., Friday, November 26, 2004 at
Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas. Burial will follow in
Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday, November 25, 2004
from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. at the funeral home.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Griffin; sons, Fred Watts
Griffin, Jr. and William Frank Griffin; sisters, Irene Holcomb and Mary
Watkins; brother, Joe B. Griffin.
Survivors include his son, David W. Griffin and wife, Sandra of Housotn,
Texas; four grandchildren, Michael Griffin, Ginger Griffin Lycan, Erin

Nova Ray Griffith, III, 47, of Groves, Texas died Tuesday, November
23, 2004 in Groves,Texas.
He was a native of Monroe, Louisiana and a resident of Groves, Texas for
13 years. He was a member of Southeast Texas San Jacinto High Rollers.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 27, 2004 at 2:00 p.m.
at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches with Rev. J.R. Rutherford
officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of
service Saturday, November 27,2004 at Levingston Funeral Home in Port

He is survived by his mother, Ollie Lee Griffith of West Monroe, LA;

Louis "Bob" Grimes, 104 years, of Nederland,
passed away, Saturday, September 18, 2004 at
Mid-Jefferson Hospital in Nederland. He was born
June 10, 1900 in New Iberia, Louisiana and had
lived in Nederland since 1944. He retired from
Texaco at the age of 65 as a pipe-fitter helper
and then worked at Lloyds Trailers until he was
80 years old. A gathering of family and friends
will be from 5-8 pm Monday, September 20, 2004
with a Christian Vigil service at 5:30 pm at
Broussard's Mortuary 505 12th St. in Nederland.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 am
Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at St. Elizabeth
Catholic Church in Port Neches with Reverend
Bennie Patillo presiding. Interment will follow
at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
Survivors include one daughter, Sylvia Bertrand;
and one son, Roy Grimes both of Nederland, three
grandchildren, Tommy Grimes, Rebecca Demeter,
and Linda Porter; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Carroll Trahan, Alvin
Guidry, Roland Grimes, and Jimmy Guilbeaux.

Julia Guerrero, 79, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, October 5, 2004 at
Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital. A native of Harlingen and
resident of the area for most of her life, Julia was a Vocational Nurse
for over thirty years. Survivors include her brothers, Raymond Gutierrez
and his wife Mary of Rose City, Manuel Gutierrez and his wife Glenda and
Isidro Guerrero and his wife Rita, all of Beaumont, and Richard
Gutierrez and his wife Charlene of Lumberton; sisters, Dee Gracia and
her husband Johnnie of Vidor, Olivia Ramirez and her husband Felix and
Margaret Ramirez, all of Nederland, and Paula Guajardo and her husband
Albert of Beaumont; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 8, 2004 at Cristo
Rey Catholic Church with burial following at Magnolia Cemetery, under
the direction of Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A gathering of
family and friends will begin at 5:00 P.M. Thursday evening, October 7,
2004 with a Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. at the mortuary. |

Louis "Bubba" Guidry Jr., 55, of Nederland died, Tuesday, October 5,
2004 at his residence from a long and courageous battle with cancer. A
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 8, 2004 at
St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland with Rev. Dan Malain
officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port
Neches under the direction of Broussard's in Nederland. A gathering of
family and friends will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening with a
scriptural rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Louis was
a native of Beaumont, and lived in Port Neches and Nederland all of his
life. In 1967, he graduated from Port Neches/Groves High School. He was
employed as a draftsman with Structural Draftsman in Beaumont with 33
years of service. Louis is survived by his wife, Janice Guidry of
Nederland; one daughter, Shanna Boudreaux and husband Brad of Fannett;
two sons, Cory Guidry and fiance Jennifer Leonard of Nederland, and Todd
Guidry and girlfriend Kayelynn Collins of Nederland; one sister, Sandy
Crow and husband Rusty of Port Neches. The family would like to thank
the staff of the Mamie McFaddin Cancer Treatment Center, and Dr. Robert
Birdwell and his staff, also Odyssey Hospice and especially Chrissy

Mr. Lovic P. Guidry, 90, of Groves died Sunday, November 21, 2004 at
his residence in Groves.
A native of Leroy, Louisiana he has lived in Groves since 1958. He was a
member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Groves and had
retired from Texaco Inc. in Port Arthur in the motor oil department with
31 years of service. Mr. Guidry also served in the U.S. Army during
WWII.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at 10:00am at
Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Leroy, Louisiana under the
direction of Vincent Funeral Home in Abbeville, Louisiana.
Burial will follow at the Church cemetery in Leroy, La..
A rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Monday evening.
Mr. Guidry id survived by his daughter; Sherrill Gary of Groves, Texas;
Sisters, Lorena Broussard of Lafayette, La., Hazel Mitchel and Eurice
Touchet both of Abbeville, La.; Brother, Loveless Guidry of Kaplan, La;
2 Grandchildren and 2 Great grandchildren;
