Bailey, Rema Marie On Wednesday, December 14th at approximately 11:55 p.m., Rema Bailey put her Hand into the Hand of God. Rema Marie Bailey was born on February 16, 1907 in New Iberia, LA. to File Breaux and Emily Berard Breaux. She retired from Sherwin Williams Paint Company where she worked in sales and was a member of the American Business Women's Association. She resided in Port Arthur for 70 years and was a member of St. James Catholic Church and a member of St. James Altar Society.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 18, 2005 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Father Stephen McCrate officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be on Sunday from 12:00 noon until time of service at 2:00 at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. Bailey; son, Allen Yoakum; and daughter, Elaine Burch. Survivors are her daughters, Bettie Lee Shirley of Houston, and Helen Estes of Katy; 6 grandchidren, 11 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.

Barbin, Sidney Francis Sidney Francis Barbin, 76, of Port Arthur passed away January 21, 2005 at Park Place Hospital. Mr. Barbin was a native and has lived in Port Arthur all of his life. Sidney worked as a maintenance man for 20 years at the Jefferson County Sub-Court house in Port Arthur. He is survived by his wife; Shirley Barbin of Port Arthur; daughters; Mary Wilson and husband Jimmy of Fannett and Judy Talbert and husband Vernon of Orange. He also survived by 4 grandchildren; Clint Talbert, Corrin Gonzales and husband Mario, Tiffany Wilson, and Blake Wilson, and one great grandchild; Jayden Gonzales. Services will be held on Monday, January 24, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home Chapel, officiating will be Deacon Jim Gard. Benoit, Virginia Virginia Benoit, 97, of Groves, Texas died Friday, December 9, 2005 at her residence.

Virginia was born on February 10, 1908 in Lafayette, Louisiana to Philemon Pellerin and Felica Myers Pellerin. She was a resident of Groves for 68 years and longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December l1, 2005 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Rev. Don Golasinski officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December l0, 2005 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Faulk and friend, Jay Hebert of Nederland, Velva Ray Allison and husband, Benny of Lake Charles, Louisiana; two sons, Dan Benoit and wife Flo of Groves, Gerald Benoit and friend Craig Broussard of Groves; one sister, Edolia Hanks of Nederland; seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.

Bodden, Pearl Pearl Bodden, 80, of Port Neches, Texas died Saturday, December 24, 2005 at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas.

Pearl was born on May 11, 1925 in Cayman Brac, Cayman Island to Isaac Caleb Ryan and Amice Georganna Ryan. She was a homemaker and a resident of this area for fifty years. She was also a member of Southside Baptist Church in Port Neches and a member of the Gideon Women’s Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches with Rev. Warren Smith and Rev. Jim Barron officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2005 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches.

She is survived by her husband, Darley Bodden of Port Neches, Texas; daughter, Kaye Barnard and husband, Rick of Port Neches, Texas; son, Edward Bodden and wife, Mary of Katy, Texas; two granddaughters, Danielle Kaye Barnard and Chelsea Kaye Barnard.

Pallbearers will be Claud Bodden, Gary Davis, Alfred Davis James Henry, Jimmy King, and Eddie Linares.
Boone, Curby Dan
Curby Dan Boone, 72 of Kountze, died Monday, January 03, 2005 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Funeral Service will be at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at First Baptist Church in Kountze. A gathering of Family and Friends will be this evening from 5-8 P.M. at Broussard's in Kountze. He will also have a graveside service at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, January 7, 2005 at Fairview Cemetery in Apache, OK and a gathering of Family and Friends Thursday from 5-8P.M. at Crews Funeral Home in Apache, OK. Curby is preceded in death by his parents L.G. and Pearlean Boone, brother Lester Boone and sister Margie Fredrickson. Curby was a native of Washita, Oklahoma; he was a Korean War Veteran and a member of the VFW Post 1514. He was also a lifetime member of the America Legion. He was a member of the Christian Community Fellowship Church of Lumberton. He married Vesta Franklin on January 23, 1953. He worked for ARCO Oil all over Southern Oklahoma and Texas he settled down in Kountze and continued to work for ARCO Oil and Rio Bravo Oil till his retirement. Curby is survived by his wife of 51 years Vesta Franklin Boone of Kountze, Daughters; Rhonda Barner and husband James of Kountze and Gena Cryer and husband Thomas of Kountze, Sons; Curby Randall Boone and his wife Eve of Luanda Angolo Africa and Earl Wayne Boone and his wife Kileen of Round Rock, Texas, Sisters; Mary Jackson, Pearlean Woods and Gay Glagg all of Oklahoma, Brothers Wallace Boone of Paulsvalley OK and Jackie Boone of Overland Park, Kansas, ten grandchildren and eight Great Grandchildren. Breaux, Mary Beryl Mary Beryl Breaux, 83, of Port Arthur, Texas died Sunday, December 25, 2005 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas.

Mary was born on September l9, l922 in Port Arthur, Texas to Murphy Bourgeois and Ellen Miguez Bourgeois. She was a lifelong Port Arthur resident and member of St. Charles Catholic Church. She was a senior aid for transportation for Southeast Texas Area Agency on Aging. She was a member of the Breavement Committee at St. Charles Catholic Church.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 29, 2005 at St. Charles Catholic Church with Rev. Dan Malain officiating.Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 28, 2005 from 4:00p.m. to 9:00p.m. with a Rosary Service conducted at 7:00p.m. by Deacon Dallas Broussard at the funeral home.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Breaux and son, Kirk Breaux. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Ellen Weisse and husband, Jerry of Hampshire, Lisa Ann Breaux and Denise Breaux both of Port Arthur; one son, Curtis Breaux and wife, Pat of Port Arthur; twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Dwayne Breaux, Michael Weisse, Steven Breaux, Tony Weisse, David Paul Breaux, Mark Steven Breaux and Justin Letulle.
Burke, Warren John "Racehorse" Sr. Warren John "Racehorse" Burke, Sr., 84, of Port Arthur, Texas died Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at his residence.

Warren was born on March 6, l92l in Port Arthur, Texas to Superville Burke and Elmina Legnon Brown Burke. He was a lifelong Port Arthur resident and member of St. James Catholic Church. He was a retired pipefitter from Gulf Oil Corp. with 39 years of service and member of OCAW Local 423. He was a World War II U.S. Marine Corp veteran.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2005 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Rev. J. C. Coon officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2005 from 4:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. with a Rosary Service conducted at 7:00p.m. at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Vedia Burke of Port Arthur,TX; two daughters, Tammy Graham of Beaumont, TX, Lois Soileau and husband, Jimmy of Lake Charles,LA; four sons, Warren John Burke, Jr. of Port Arthur, TX, Keith Michael Burke and wife, Charlotte of Lawrence,KS, David Todd Burke and wife, Shanna of Lumberton, TX and Richard Troy Burke and wife, Angela of Port Arthur, TX; two sisters, Ethel Van Cleave of Grand Bay,TX, Gloria Fordyce of Huntsville, TX; one brother, Sidney Burke and wife, Dessie of New Braunsfel, TX; five grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Buvinghausen, Ruth Ruth Buvinghausen, 88, of Port Arthur died Friday, December 9, 2005 at Cypress Glen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Port Arthur. She was born on February 21, 1917 in Houston, Texas to Emile Schultz and Emma Johannas Schultz. Ruth was a resident of this area for 31 years and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Arthur.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 12, 2005 at Trinity Lutheran Church under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Reverend Timothy Dinger will be officiating. Burial will be at 2:00p.m., Monday in the Lutheran Cemetery in Houston. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
She is survived by three daughters; Cheryl Doyle, and husband, Danny, of Groves, Tx., Janelle Kappler, and husband, Steve, of Sun City West, Az., and Marilyn Rhyne of Edinburg, Tx., one son; David Buvinghausen of Richmond, Tx., sister; Dorothy Geyer of Houston, Tx. ; two brothers; Ervin Schultz of Houston, Tx, and Lloyd Schultz, and wife, June, of Springfield, Mo., eight grandchildren; Bryan Doyle, Chris Doyle, Katie Lischka, Greg Kappler, Mindi Mohr, Amy Kappler, Richard Rhyne, and Jason Rhyne, and fourteen great grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Buvinghausen.
