Beaird, Bernice 12/6/1915 - 8/8/2008

Bernice “Aunt Bea” Alexander Beaird, 92, of Beaumont, died Friday, August 8, 2008 at Cypress Glen Nursing and Rehabilitation in Port Arthur.

A native of Blackshear, Georgia and resident of Beaumont most of her life, Mrs. Beaird was a bookkeeper for Tinkle Furniture Company and retired after forty-five years.

Her husband, Arthur Beaird; step-son, Lynn Beaird; sisters, Millicent Howard, Lee Tevis, Ora Dawson and Ruth Williams; brothers, Elbert “Eddie” Howard and John D. Howard preceded her in death.

Survivors include her sons, Travis E. Alexander, Jr. and his wife Lurlene and John L. Alexander and his wife Shirley all of Beaumont; three granddaughters, Jenifer Alexander of Galveston, Ethel Bulgherini of Lumberton, Rosa Cegielski of Groves; two grandsons, John W. Alexander of Beaumont and Mark Alexander of Groves; seven great grandchildren, Chris Mazzu, Justin Cegielski, Jaclyn Cegielski, B.J. Bulgherini, Brittani Bulgherini, William Alexander and Abigal Alexander; step-daughters, Joann Bain and Joy; step-sons, Elton Beaird, Clark Beaird and Mike Beaird; brother, Hugh A. Howard of Liberty; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 10, 2008 at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

Beard, Ruby R.

Ruby R. Beard, 84, of Groves, Texas died Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Magnolia Manor.

Ruby was born January 8, l924 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Charles Mowbray and Maude Taylor Mowbray. She was a homemaker and resident of Groves for 58 years.

Funeral services will be at l:00p.m., Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, Texas. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:00p.m.-8:00p.m. at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Burliegh Beard and brother, Roy Mowbray.

Survivors include her nieces, Linda Ogier of Kenner,LA, Pam Owens, and Cecile Leo; nephew, L J. Romero of Port Arthur, TX; sisters-in-law, Delores Mowbray of Florida and Beatrice Landry of Groves,TX; and very close friend, Barbara Blum.

Bearden, Arven Wayne "BoBo" Arven Wayne "BoBo" Bearden 49, of LaBelle passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont. Funeral service will be 10 AM, Saturday, September 22, 2007 at Broussard's Mortuary in Nederland with Reverend Ronald Bordes officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. A gathering of family and friends will be 5-8 PM, Friday at the mortuary.

Arven was a native and lifelong resident of the mid-county area. He was employed with Gulfco for 16 years as a steel worker. He is survived by his parents Robert Odell Bearden Sr. of Port Acres, Ruby Mae Bearden of LaBelle, two sons, Justin Bearden of San Diego, Ca., Joshua Bearden of Augusta, Geogria; three sisters, Linda Sue Bearden Bean of LaBelle, Mattie Lynn Bearden Baird and her husband Billy of Joplin, Mo., Pamela Jean Bearden Welch and her husband Jerry of Nederland, five brothers, Robert Bearden Jr. and his wife Vickie of LaBelle, Johnny Bearden and his wife Paula of LaBelle, Gary Michael Bearden and his wife Leslie of Fannett, David Allen Bearden and Maddie Monk of Groves, Steven Bearden and his wife Katrinia of Port Arthur, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bearden, Beatrice "Bea" Beatrice Bea Bearden, 54, of Port Arthur passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Methodist Hospital in Houston. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Broussard's in Nederland. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at the mortuary. Bea was a native of Port Arthur and a lifetime resident of the area. She worked at the courtesy booth at Bruce's Market Basket in Groves for over twenty years and enjoyed needlepoint and loved her cats. She will be remembered as a sweet and loving person. Bea is survived by her son, Stephen Bearden of Port Arthur; Parents, Johnnie and Nadia Cardwell of Beaumont; brothers, Johnnie Cardwell Jr. and his wife Pat of Dewitt, Arkansas and Bill Cardwell and his wife Lynda of Port Arthur; her sister, Nadia Philmon and her husband Ken of Silsbee and her best friend, Jackie Stevens of Groves. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Benard, Melvin Mr. Melvin Benard, age 68, of Beaumont, TX went home to be with the Lord at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital on Tuesday, December 16, 2008. Melvin leaves his legacy of love to his daughters, Goritta Rideau of Beaumont and Cynthia Michelle Benard of Kadena Air Force Base, Okinawa, Japan; a special friend, Adanna Henry of Beaumont; brothers, Willie Benard (Wilburean), Lawrence Benard, Alton McCurley, Jr. (Belva) and Ernest Frank all of Beaumont; Leroy Benard (Joyce) of Seattle, WA and Robert Keith Benard (Sharen) of Houston; sisters, Helen Jones, Helen M. Clark and Dianne Graham (Archie) all of Beaumont; four grandchildren; and a host of neices, nephews and other relatives. The Celebration of Life service for Melvin will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2008 at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church at 11:00 AM. The visitation will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday morning before the service at the church. Bennett, Geneva Lois

Geneva Lois Bennett, 90, of Beaumont died Saturday, March 15, 2008 with her loving family surrounding her at Christus Hospital, St. Elizabeth. She was born in Chenneyville, La. and a lifelong resident of Beaumont, Texas. She is a 1936 graduate from Charlton-Pollard High School. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Live oak Cemetery. There will be a public viewing today from 12 Noon until 6:00 p.m. at Mercy Funeral Home. Visitation, 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ivory and JoAnn Jackett; husband, Henry Bennet, Sr., and son, Henry Bennett, Jr. She is survived by four daughters, Patsy Hornsby Strong of Houston, Texas, Constance Bennett-Pollard (Henry), Barbara McCreary (Samuel) all of Beaumont; June M. Bennett of Washington, D.C.; two sons, Harold Bennett (Maudry) of New Iberia, La., Bruce L. Bennett of Washington, D.C.; daughter-in-law, Priscilla Bennett of Las Vegas, NV. and sister-in-law, Cora Elizabeth Thomas of Houston, Texas; four sisters, Dorothy Batiste of Lecompte, La., Delores Sumbler of Lakeridge, Va., Geneva Lynch (Moses) of Pensacola, Fl., Rosa Taylor (Bobby) of Alexandria, La.; two brothers, Jimmy Winnfield (Josephine), and David Winnfield all of Alexandria, La.; (6) grandchildren, (9) great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Benoit, Jesse

Jesse Benoit, 77, of Port Neches passed away Monday, June 16, 2008 at Dubuis Hospital in Beaumont after a courageous battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, June 19, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur with the interment to follow at St. Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville, Louisiana at 4:00 PM under the direction of Broussard's in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday with a scriptural rosary to be recited at 6 PM at the mortuary. Mr. Benoit was a native of Arnaudville, Louisiana and has lived in the mid-county area since 1952. He retired from Gulf Oil with 33 years of service as a civil engineer. He served his country in the U. S. Air Force. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur. Also a member of the Usher Society for 12 years. Mr Benoit was preceded in death by the mother of his children Joycelyn. He is survived by wife, Russie Benoit of Port Neches; three daughters, Vickie Russell and husband David of Port Arthur, Jill Williams and husband Jon of Nederland, Babette Ford and husband Chad of Nederland; son, Guy Benoit and wife Mayna of Nederland; two stepdaughters, Karen Stephens and husband Wayne of Port Arthur, Kathryn Bollman of Clearlake; four stepsons, Karl Bollmann and wife Martha of Del Rio, Kyle Bollmann and wife Debbie of Charleston, South Carolina, Karter Bollmann of Clearlake, Kristopher Bollmann of Houston; two sisters, Rena LaLonde of Opelousas, Louisiana, Rose Simar and husband Leon of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, Amy Manuel, Jesse Russell, Lacy Benoit, Shane Benoit, Brittni Hayes, Tyler Williams, Dillon Ford, Cade Ford, Blake Ford, Karl Bollman III, Leslie Bollmann, Brian Bollamnn, Levi Bollmann, Seth Bollman, Brittny Bollmann, Kimberly Bollman, Luke Bollmann, Micha Bollmann and Elise Robinson. Our beloved Daddy, PawPaw, husband and friend was loved, cherished and will be missed by all. His unconditional love knew no bounds. His strength, gentleness and kind spirit will be remembered. Bergeron, Margaret Ann Margaret Ann Bergeron, 87, of Nederland, died Saturday, March 8, 2008 in Beaumont. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Broussard's in Nederland with Rev. Joe Roberts and Frank Hodges officiating, with interment to follow at Memory Gardens in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 8 PM Monday at the mortuary. Mrs. Bergeron was a native of Luling and lived in Port Arthur and Nederland most of her life. She retired from Southwestern Bell as an operator with 35 years of service. Mrs. Bergeron is survived by her sons, L.J. Bergeron of Fannett, and Travis Bergeron of Nederland; six grandchildren, Jamie Cormier, Sherri Herring, Scott Bergeron, Dusty, Bergeron, Cliff Fitzgerald, and James Bergeron; also sixteen great grandchildren. Besse, Eunice Marie

Eunice Marie Besse of Groves, TX passed away at 9:45PM on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at the Medial Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur, TX at the age of 89.

Eunice was born on December 04, 1918 in Youngsville, LA to Marie and Joseph Rabeaux. She married John Besse, Sr. and moved to Port Arthur, TX in 1938. She was a homemaker.

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00 to 8:00PM at Levingston Funeral Home, with a recitation of the rosary by Cecil Broussard, brother-in-law, at 6:30PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00p.m., Friday, May 30, 2008, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Groves, TX with Monsignor Kenneth Greig serving as celebrant.

The Rite of Committal will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, TX.

Eunice was preceded in death by her husband John Besse, Sr., parents: Marie and Joseph Rabeaux: granddaughter: Kimberly Besse, brother: David Rabeaux and sisters: Louise Gary, Winnie Broussard, Lillian Rabeaux, and Louisa Vincent.

She is survived by her three children: son, John Besse, Jr. and wife Pat of Nederland, TX; and daughters: Dolores King and husband Warren of Groves, TX and Elizabeth “Bitsy” Jackson and husband Ronny of Orange, TX; one brother, Robert Rabeaux of New Iberia, LA and four sisters: Elizabeth Boutte and Lorraine O’Neal of Lafayette, LA; Gladys Landry of New Iberia, LA; and Hazel Sutherland of Framingham, MA; six grandchildren: Anna Ousley, Jason King, Jeremy Jackson, Jared Jackson, Kristi Holton and Angela Court; and nine great grandchildren: Jade and Paige Ousley, Lane King, Brea and Thomas Shipley, Nickolette Tate, Kylie Court and Austen and Brock Holton.

Pallbearers will be Jason King, Jeremy Jackson, Jared Jackson, Brian Ousley, Robert Holton and Steven Besse ..
