Braden -- I am looking for my great Uncle and his family. (Van) or John Vanderer Braden was a farmer who showed up on the 1920 census as being in Jim Wells Co. and according to family legend he died there. He moved from Falls Co or maybe Reeves. The family was from Itawamba Co. MS were his brothers were born at Braden's Branch. Van's second wife, Maggie, died June 1911 and is buried in Falls Co. along with one daughter, Lula Davis, and one grandson, Ronald Braden who was son of Hubert Horace Braden who is supposed to be buried there also. It is possible that Alice L. Braden, his sister, and Howard & Clifton Braden, her brothers, are also buried there. I would assume that all were married and had large families. Van had 10 children and I can only find three so far. Van was once listed in MS on a census as Benjamin, which as far as I know was incorrect but men in that period went by nicknames often and my grandfather las saw him in 1898, so we do not have a lot to go on and my grandfather has been dead since 1848. He had a brother in Neuces Co., George Luther and wife Docia, who are buried there with some of their kids so all Braden's in area shoulb be kin. Thanks for any help as I live in Wichita Falls. Santos Moreno -- I read your site concerning historic cemeteries. My ancestors are in an old cemetery in Jim Wells county near Ben Bolt. I'm interested in it being found and preserved. Attached is a reference to the cemetery. I am interested in the connection between the Garcias and Santos Moreno. Santos Moreno-born 1798-1802? married first Basilia Garcia Saenz dgtr of Rafael Garcia Salinas & Josefa Saenz in 1833. Basilia died June,1839 and Santos married her sister, Concepcion Garcia Saenz in 1841. Rafael Garcia Saenz is in my line. I am a descendant of Concepcion's older brother, Justo Garcia Saenz-born 1799. "According to Rex Howard, in the Texas Guidebook, Don Santos Moreno who lived at Mier, Mexico received a Mexican land grant in 1820 from the government of Tamaulipas. His grant had 17713 acres of land and was located in the present Jim Wells county near Ben Bolt, Texas. He built a one story house of adobe, using cedar poles for rafters. The house was 30x60 feet, and in the basement was the family burial vault running the length of the basement. About 100 yards south lay the family cemetery for the Trinidad Ranch. The ranch has been broken up, but today, the old house, vault and cemetery can be found hidden back in the mesquite and underbrush in a pasture on the ranch of Josefa Garcia, 3 1/2 miles south of Ben Bolt. "--this comes from The Texas Guidebook, Lo-Ray Co., Grand Prairie 1954.
The 1880 Nueces county, Texas census shows:
Morenos,Santos white male 71
Concepcion white female 63 wife
Anacleto white male 34 son
Sefarina white female 30 daughter
Eudifios white female 15 gr-daughter
Leon white male 10 son
I would like to know the parents of Santos Moreno. Santos Moreno is mentioned in El Mesquite by Elena Zamora O'Shea, who was a granddaughter of Concepcion and Santos Moreno. Page 67 of this book states that Santos Moreno's mother was a Garcia I can be reached at 317-509-2848; 1642 McCollough Court, INpls, IN 46260 Thanks, Deborah Pendleton *********************************************************************************************************************************

Del Bosque -- I do not live in the Jim Wells area, but I will be visiting there in the next couple of weeks, hoping to do some more family research. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on other records or cemeteries not listed on the web page to search through? I have reached a dead end with Genaro Del Bosque 1872 - 1958. I am looking for his parents names and dates of birth. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

Clegg TX. -- Hello, I was wondering about Clegg, TX. As a child my father talked about the Town of Clegg and the history. A lot of the family of Newton "Nute" King are buried in the Clegg Cemetery. Every year they hold a reunion for all the families who lived there. Newton/Missouri King lived there for several years. So did a lot of his Aunts and Uncles. George King, Martha Ann Logan King are buried there. She was 89 when she died. George J. King was son of John King born 8-23-1800. In the listing of Clegg it shows no Kings there but this is not true. My Uncle Theodore went to the reunions and grew up there as a boy. Is there anyone with a complete listing? In the 1930 census Newton "Nute", Cluster, Esther, Hosea and several Kings were there.
Thank you. Bertha King*********************************************************************************************************************************

Gilberto Flores -- Hello, my name is Veronica Flores. I am writing this query in hope that you can help me find my father's relatives. My father Gilberto V. Flores was born November 14, 1952 in San Antonio, TX. His father was Trinidad Flores. Trinidad Flores is from Jim Wells. Trinidad passed away October 1972. The strange thing is that when he passed away, his name read Trinidad Gonzales-Flo. I believe the reason that Trinidad's family did this is so that we wouldn't find out who his family is. Trinidad's mother, Hortencia Gonzales passed and left a will that we have never seen stating that she left one acre of land to my father Gilberto V. Flores. We have been sued many times for this piece of land. All I want is to see if you can please help. I am desperated and don't know where to turn for help. I don't want this piece of land to be lost. It's the only thing we have from my father's side of the family. Please help. Thank You. Veronica Flores (contact me for address and phone number)
