Family of Joel Wylie Woolvin
Submitted by Jennifer Woolvin-Allen
Val Woolvin ran the Siterdale store for over twenty years and her grandsons attended school in Comfort and Boerne. The family owned the Kapp farm in Sisterdale from 1970 to a year ago (2005). Ms Woolvin's daughter married into the Agold family of Boerne, and her grandson is a direct descendant of Henry Agold.
Anna Wolven, the mother of Joel, was born in 1794. Her husband was Richard Wolven. Another son was named Charles. Julia Carmon Woolvin, wife of James Franklin Shine Woolvin, was the one who changed the spelling from "Wolven" to "Woolvin" in order to be accepted into southern society. Joel Wolven/Woolvin started out as carpenter who made caskets, which led into the establishment of the Woolvin Funeral Home in Wilmington, NC. Now it is the Andrews Funeral Home.
