restor

On the site of the first settlement on Cibolo Creek which was called Tusculum there is a building restoration in progress. The house being restored was the home of Ferdinand Simon, one of those German immigrants who came to the Bettina Colony on the Llano seeking a Utopian society, but later left with a group who came to the banks of the Cibolo Creek. Here they found good quality water which would sustain their settlement. Tusculum was established. The restoration is being done by the Schwope Family, the current, and long time, owners of the property, Pictured above is Mr. Schwope and a descendant of the Simon family.
