Special Open House

Kerr Regional History Center

Saturday October 20, 2012

10 AM to 4 PM

On Saturday, October 20th, the Kerrville Genealogical Society is sponsoring an Open House at the Kerr Regional History Center, located at the Library complex, from 10:00 to 4:00.

The event will feature local historians and authors, with copies of their recent books for sale.  Historical displays can be seen; come find your family member in old photo albums of Kerrville people and events.

The Daughters of the Republic of Texas will also be there in costume.   Of special interest to Kerr County residents will be the first-time availability of six binders which contain copies of the official documents (1843 - 1866) of the U. S. Army Camel Experiment in the handwriting of the participants, including Secretary of War, Jefferson Davis.   The books follow day to day activities and decisions made in the mid-1800's that resulted in camels at Camp Verde in Kerr County.

The Kerr County Regional History Center is the only place where this unique collection can be viewed as a result of funding and volunteer efforts by the Kerrville Genealogical Society.
