I would further represent that I deserted the Rebel Service and voluntarily Surrendered myself to General Kilpatrick’s Cavalry Command near Auburn Alabamma on the 16 October, 1864; in order to avail myself of the Amnesty Proclamation in Exchange, but, respectfully ask that permission be granted me to take the Oath of Allegiance to the United States and again enjoy the privileges of an American Citizen. I CERTIFY, That the within named William Holmes a musician of Captain James Selkirk’s Company (D) of the Sixth Regiment of Texas Infantry, born in Denmark, aged 25 years, 5 feet, 6 inches high, dark complexion, blue eyes, brown hair, and by occupation a Tailor was enlisted by Capt. E. A. Peareson at Matagorda, Texas on the 4th of October 1861, to serve for the war years, and is now entitled to discharged by reason of Disability. The said William Holmes was last paid by Capt. Udolpho Wolfe a q m to include the 30th day of June 1862, and has pay due from that date to the present date. There is due to him Eighty Dollars traveling allowance from Arkansas Post, Ark, the place of discharge, to Matagorda Texas, the place of enrollment, transportation not being furnished in kind. There is due him Sixty two 40/100 Dollars for services 5 mos & 6 days @ 12 $ per mo. There is due him twenty five Dollars clothing allowance for past six months service. He is indebted to the Confederate States the sum of Twenty two 25/100 Dolls. on account of clothing. Given in duplicate at Camp Arkansas Post, this 6th day of December 1862. James Selkirk Capt.
