James Selkirk's Company (D) of the Sixth Regiment of Texas Infantry, born in Europe, aged 35 years, 5 feet, 2 1/2 inches high, light complexion, blue eyes, dark hair, and by occupation a carpenter was enlisted by Capt. E. A. Peareson at Matagorda on the 4 day of October 1861, to serve for the war and is now entitled to discharged by reason of disability as per special order number 788 dated Head Qrs Dept of Texas Houston May 24/1862. The said Sebastian Dietrich was last paid by Capt. Wolfe Qr. Master to include the 31 day of December 1861, and has pay due from that date to the present date. There is due to him thirty five Dollars traveling allowance from Gilmer Upshur Co. Texas the place of discharge to Matagorda, the place of enrollment, transportation not being furnished in kind. There is due him sixty seven 33/100 Dolls. for services. He is indebted to the Confederate States eight 50/100 Dollars on account of clothing, pr shoes $2.50 1 coat 3.50 dollars one pants 2.50. Given in duplicate at Gilmer, Upshur Co, this 4 day of July 1862. James Selkirk Commanding Company D. For pay from 1st of January 1862, to 4th of July 1862, being 6 months and 4 days, at eleven Dollars per month, $67.33. For pay for traveling from Gilmer Texas to Matagorda Texas being 350 miles at ten cents per mile, $35.00. Amount, $102.33. Deduct for clothing overdrawn, $8.50. Balance paid, $93.83. Received of Capt. Udolpho Wolfe A. Q. M. C. S. Army, this 28th day of November 186_, ninety three Dollars and eighty three cents, in full of the above account. Sebastian Dietrich.
