JACOB SMITH

Jacob Smith, another Texas Veteran, passed away at the ripe old age of 84 years, Sunday night, after a lingering illness at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. C. Bruce. He was taken to Kenner for interment in the family burying ground. He leaves a large family to mourn him. They have the sympathy of their friend.--Matagorda County Tribune?, July 24, 1903

JACOB SMITH

The remains of Uncle Jacob Smith were brought up from Matagorda last Monday evening and intered in the Kenner cemetery. Another old land mark has passed away. Uncle Jacob has spent more than three score years in this immediate neighborhood and has many friends who mourn his death. He will be greatly missed, not only by his family, but the entire community who sympathise with the sorrowing ones in this sad bereavement.--Matagorda County Tribune?, August 7, 1903

ELIZABETH SMITH

Elizabeth Smith, wife of Jacob Smith, died at her home on lower Caney on last Wednesday night, at the age of nearly four score years. Grandma Smith was one of the pioneers of the county, highly respected and honored by all who knew her and the BREEZE joins the large circle of friends in extending sympathy.--The Bay City Breeze, August 7, 1897
