Aged 60 yrs, 11 mos,
and 1 day

Our precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled;
A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.

Jacob Smith (September 16, 1842 - October 30, 1859), son of Jacob and Elizabeth Sargent Smith is buried in the Sargent Cemetery.
Most of the children of Jacob and Elizabeth H. Sargent Smith are buried in Matagorda Cemetery.
Evidence indicates that Lewis A. and Bell [Isabella] Smith also died before their mother.
They are both evidently buried with their mother as their names appear on her marker and they have foot stones.

The remains of Uncle Jacob Smith were brought up from Matagorda last Monday evening and intered in the Kenner cemetery. Another old land mark has passed away.
