VAN VLECK - Consuelo Gonzales Canales, 68, of Van Vleck, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002.

She was born Oct. 17, 1933, in Woodsboro, to the late Cruz and Delfina Martinez Gonzales. She was a custodian and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Bay City.

Survivors: husband, Fred Canales Sr.; daughters, Frances Perez of Sweeny, Rose Cortez of Lake Jackson and Suzanne Tijerina of Van Vleck; sons, Fred Canales Jr. and Ernest Canales, both of Van Vleck, and Ruben Canales of Freeport; sisters, Rita Reyes of LaSalle, Maria Briones of Texas City and Ramona Garcia of Enid, Okla.; brothers, Pete Gonzales of Dickinson, Julio Gonzales and Domingo Gonzales, both of San Leon; 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: son, Jimmy Canales; and parents.

A rosary will be recited 7:30 p.m. tonight at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home chapel.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, the Rev. Gerard Cernock officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, Bay City, 979-245-4613.

BAY CITY [Matagorda County, TX] -- Mary Gloria Sanchez Canales, 58, of Bay City, died Sunday, May 5, 2002.

She was born Feb. 8, 1944, in Falfurrias, to Ramona Rodriguez Sanchez of Bay City and the late Domingo Sanchez Sr. She was a homemaker and member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Bay City.

Survivors: daughter, Elda Banuelos of Tulsa, Okla.; sons, Manuel Anthony Villarreal III of Tulsa, Okla. and Raul Valencia Jr. of Bay City; sisters, Norma Diana Sanchez and Kelly Hernandez, both of Bay City and Edna Sanchez of Victoria; brothers, Freddie Sanchez, Salvador Sanchez and Sonny Sanchez, all of Bay City; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and mother.

Preceded in death by: daughter, Esmeralda Villarreal; brother, Domingo Sanchez Jr.; one grandchild; and father.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. tonight at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home chapel.

Amancio "Pete" Cano


Amancio “Pete” Cano, 69, of Markham died Oct. 24, 2002 at Methodist Hospital in Houston. He was born April 8, 1933 in Mercedes, Texas to the late Alfonso and Gregoria Cano. Mr. Cano was a resident of Markham since 1963, a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He owned and operated Pete’s Paint and Body Shop in Markham.

Survivors include: wife, Guadalupe Alaniz Cano of Markham; children, Daniel Cano of Sealy, Tina LeFevre and husband Jack of Spring, Barbara Medina and husband Beto of Liberty, Margaret Adsit and husband Dwight of Spring, Bill Cano and wife Anna of Baytown and Cathy Cano of Portland, Oregon; brothers, Severo and Jose Cano, Amelia Villanuera, Reyes C. Pena and Alfonso Cano Jr. all of Mercedes; 14 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Mike Cano and sister Lupe Mora.

A rosary service was held at 8 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26, 2002, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, and the funeral mass will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerard Cernock officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck.

Pallbearers will be Joe Guajardo, William Parks, Dwight Varna, Jerry Fettinger, Albert Garcia and Pete Sardelich. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons and Tino Torres.

WADSWORTH - Dakota Wayne Cartwright, infant son of Brandon W. Cartwright and Tiffany Dawn Bruening of Wadsworth, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002.

Survivors: parents; grandparents, Wayne and Donna Bruening of Bay City, and Howard and Shari Cartwright of Alvin; great-grandparents, Frances R. Bruening and Bobbie Hoffman, both of Bay City, Guy and Mary Snyder of Van Vleck, Howard and Patsy Cartwright of Elkhart, and Lila Smith of Matagorda.

Preceded in death by: great-grandfather, Wesley August Bruening.

Everet David Clark
 

Everet David Clark, 89, of Bay City, passed away Monday, January 31, 2005 in Houston, Texas.

He was born September 19, 1915 near Herpel, Arkansas, to Robert and Laura Brown Clark.

He was a resident of Bay City for the past 30 years and a former resident of Pasadena.

He is survived by: his sister-in-law, Ola Walker of Alabama; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: wife, Lois Balentine Clark; parents, Robert and Laura Clark; sister, Elsie Bryant Clark; and brothers, Walter, Willard and Clyde Clark.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 3, 2005, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel.

Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, Bay City, Texas (979) 245-4613.

Lois M. Clark


Lois M. Clark, 86, of Bay City, died April 1, 2003 at Bay Villa Nursing Home in Bay City.

She was born Sept. 14, 1916 in Mountain View, Ark. to the late Richard E. and Ella Ballentine.

Mrs. Clark was a member of the Baptist Church, a resident of Bay City for the past 28 years and a former resident of Pasadena.

Survivors include: husband, Everett Clark of Bay City; and brother-in-law, Clyde Clark of Sargent.

Funeral services will be 11 a. m. Thursday, April 3, 2003, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, with the Rev. James W. Howard officiating.

Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck.
