Mrs. Doris Day Eaton, 44, of Houston and former resident of Bay City died in Bay City December 27, 1980. Her church affiliation was Baptist. Survivors include: husband Eugene Eaton of Houston; daughter, Sabrina Gardner of Houston; sisters, Mrs. Edna Ruth Adams of Blessing, Mrs. Jessie Mae Edwards and Mrs. Gloria Jones of Houston; brothers, Earcel Hadden and Ben Hadden of Blessing, Leeland Jackson of Houston, Freddie and Nathan Jackson of Palacios and James Otis Hadden of Compton, Calif.; granddaughter, Shylander Gardner of Houston. Funeral services will be held at Enterprise Baptist Church in Bay City Saturday, January 3, 2 p.m. with Rev. A. H. Pointer officiating. Interment will follow at Wilson Creek Cemetery in El Maton. Walter C. Eberle


Funeral services for Mr. Walter C. Eberle, 74, of Sargent were scheduled for 2 p. m. today at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Clanton officiating. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Park.

 

Mr. Eberle was born May 4, 1909 in Brazil, Ind., and died March 16, 1984, at Veterans Hospital in Houston. He was a member of the Lutheran Church, American Legion, VFW and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He was also former owner of Johnson Transfer and Storage in Houston.

 

Survivors include: wife, Waneta W. Eberle of Sargent; sisters, Marie Wright of Vista, Calif., Catherine Sanders of South Bend, Ind., Louise Coleman and Frances Watkins, both of Anderson, Ind.

Waneta Eberle

Waneta Wright Eberle, 77, Georgetown, Texas, died recently in a Methodist nursing home after having been in failing health for the last few years. She had moved to the nursing home to be near her sister, Margaret Dixon.

Born in June 1913, she lived in Brazil until she was 35.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Eberle, and two sisters, Ruby Emery and Katherine Carty.

Services were held July 8 in Bay City, Texas, where she and her husband had last resided.

Jessie Mae Hadden Edwards

Funeral services for Mrs. Jessie Mae Hadden Edwards, 65, of Houston, are scheduled on Saturday, at 11 a.m., at the Free Zion Baptist Church in Blessing, with Rev. Ben Hadden officiating. Burial will follow at Wilson Creek Cemetery in Wilson Creek.

Visitation will be Friday until 9 p.m. in the chapel of Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home, and Saturday from 10 until 11 am. at the church.

She was born in Wilson Creek, Texas, Friday, Nov. 20, 1931, to Milton Hadden and Lesser Peters Hadden, and passed away Sunday, Aug. 31, 1997, at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Houston.

Edwards attended Wilson Creek Community School, and continued her education at Hilliard High School in Bay City. Her religious affiliations included membership at the Spiritual Temple Church of God in Christ, Houston.

Survivors include her husband, Clifton Edwards of Houston, and three children, Mrs. Elsie Kelley of Houston, Ms. Carolyn Edwards of Baytown, and Clifton T. Edwards of Houston. Also two sisters, Mrs. Edna Ruth Adams of Blessing, and Mrs. Inez Gloria Jones of Houston; and five brothers, Ercel Hadden of Blessing, Rev. Ben Hadden of Sweeny, Leland Jackson of Houston, Freddie Jackson of Palacios, and Nathan Jackson of Wharton. Other survivors include eight grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Lesser, two sisters, Georgia Hadden and Doris Eaton, and one brother, James M. Hadden.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Matthew Mouton, Jr., Ercel Hadden, Jr, Darrel Hadden, John A. Adams, Guy C. Jones and Jason C. Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will include Freddie Jackson, Leland Jackson, Nathan Jackson, Lewis Edwards, R. T. Edwards and Larry Deadrick.

Burris Eidlebach, 80, of Bay City died Tuesday, January 5, 2010.

He was born March 7, 1929 in Bay City to the late William and Pauline Gest Eidlebach. He was a retired Commercial Truck Driver.

His wife, Helen; brothers, Oscar "Bundy", Earl and Ross; sisters, Wilma Jennings, Catherine White, Isabelle Gernand, Virginia Klingaman and Joyce Smith all preceded him in death.

Survivors include: his sister, Evelyn Eidlebach; brother, Arthur Eildebach and wife Carm; sister-in-law Katherine Eidlebach and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, January 15, 2010 at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City with the Rev. Zach Nicholson officiating.

Richard Eidlebach, 48, went to be with his Lord, May 16, 2010. He was born on August 3, 1961 in Bay City, Texas. Richard loved to ride his Harley , hunting, fishing, and especially going to the beach. He loved his family and friends. He never met a stranger, helping anyone he could. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and son. He is survived by his loving wife Candy; by his children, Randy Eidlebach, Rebecca Eidlebach, Terrell Blackwell and wife Amy, Chase Blackwell and by his granddaughter Mollie Jane Garza; mother, Katherine Eidlebach; brother, Ross Eidlebach, Jr. and wife Ivy; sister, Caryn Eidlebach Bosse. He is also survived by many loving family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Ross Sterling Eidlebach, Sr.. Funeral service will be 3:00 P.M. Thursday, May 20, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Van Vleck with Rev. Bob Hobbins officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Ross Sterling Eidlebach, Sr., 78, of Bay City, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2008. He was born July 27, 1930 in Bay City to William Eidlebach and Pauline Gest Eidlebach. He was a lifelong resident of Bay City, a veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict, and attended the First Baptist Church of Van Vleck.

He is survived by his wife: Katherine R. Eidlebach of Bay City; by his daughter: Caryn Ann Bosse & husband Thomas of Hudson, FL; by his sons: Ross S. Eidlebach, Jr. & wife Ivy of Van Vleck and Richard Mark Eidlebach & wife Candy of Bay City; his sister: Evelyn Eidlebach of Bay City; by brothers: Burris Eidlebach and Arthur Eidlebach, both of Bay City; and by nine grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6pm to 8pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, November 13, 2008 at the First Baptist Church of Van Vleck with Rev. Al Lowe officiating. Elvira Elizalde

Elvira Elizalde, 96, our most blessed and beloved mother, grandmother, and sister returned to her God on Tuesday, August 12, 2008.

She was born February 10, 1912 in Tivola, Texas to the late Rosaura Vela Casas and Ismael Casas. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and was a resident of Bay City for the past 38 years.

She is survived by: one sister, Minnie Sandoval of Victoria, Texas; five daughters, Soila and husband Salvador Morales, Lydia and husband Frank Cantu, Eddy Perez and husband John Mahaffey, Gloria De La Rosa all of Bay City and Virginia Galindo of San Angelo, Texas; four sons, Ernest Elizalde of Bay City, Henry and wife Martha Elizalde, Lupe Elizalde, Jr. and wife Katy of Coolidge, Arizona, Ray Elizalde and wife Paula of Kyle, Texas; 30 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren.

A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2008 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Mass will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 16, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerry Cernoch officiating.

Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Grandsons Martin Morales, Hector De La Rosa, Lupe Elizalde III, Armando Cantu, Henry Elizalde, Jr. and Keith Morales will serve as pallbearers.

All other grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers.

Bertha Juanita Elkins, 96, of Bay City died August 27, 2005 at the Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City. She was born July 16, 1909 in Sayer, OK to the late James Henry and Bertha Ray Malloy Baird. Mrs. Elkins was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, a resident of Bay City since 1946, and was the owner/operator of Elkin’s Laundry for many years. Survivors include: daughter: Peggy Weldon of Bay City; son: Bill. R. Elkins, Jr of Houston; 5 grandchildren Jennifer Weldon of Bay City, David Weldon and Wife Teresa of Arlington, Michael Weldon of Sugarland, Sandra Christian of Dickinson, and Bill R. Elkins, III of Bay City; and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband: W. R. Elkins; sister: LaVern Bacon; and brothers: James Brooklyn, Charles Henry, Stampley Malloy, Roger Gayle, and Forrest Fields Baird. He was born September 18, 1939 in Houston to the late Juanita Bertha Baird and William David Riley Elkins Sr.

Bill is survived by: his wife, Doris Jean Bleakley Elkins of Houston; daughter, Sandra Christian of Dickinson; son, Bill Elkins III and wife Belinda of Bay City; stepson, Kent Woods of Houston; sister, Peggy Weldon of Bay City; grandchildren, Carolyn and Alexandria Kolb, and Tyler and Celeste Elkins.

He was preceded in death by: his parents, and first wife, Carolyn M. Elkins in 1988.

Lubia Kadebsky Ellerkamp, 92 of Bay City, passed away Saturday, December 2, 2006 at her home. She was born May 29, 1914 in Belarus to Michael and Elizabeth Kadebsky and was a member of the First Untied Methodist Church of Bay City and the Susanna Wesley Sunday School Class.

She is survived by her daughters: Patricia Anne Ellerkamp Hodgdon and husband Tom of Sun Lakes, AZ and Janie Ellerkamp Harris and husband John of Kingwood; by her grandchildren: Tommy Hodgdon of Scottsdale, AZ, Greg Hodgdon of Chandler, AZ, Jeff Harris of Corpus Christi and Travis Harris of Kilgore; and by her great-grandchildren: Samantha, Alex, Jack and Rebecca Hodgdon. Preceded in death by her husband: John Henry “Jack” Ellerkamp, Jr.

CLIFFORD HENRY ELLIOTT

 

Clifford Henry Elliott passed away July 24, 2004 at his residence in Austin. He was born November 2, 1940 to Edith Herreth and Henry Elliott in Bay City.

 

A former resident of Palacios, Clifford has been a resident of Austin, Texas, since 1989 when he moved to establish Austin Seafood Products.

 

He is survived by his wife, Anna Mae Collins Elliott; daughters, Michelle Rojas and husband Edward, Tracy Curtis and husband Steven, all of Austin, April McCoy of Palacios; son, Edmond Latapie of Palacios and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Edith Elliott of Bay City, sister, Edith Allen of Bay City, and brothers, Marvin Elliott of Markham and Donald Elliott of Roscoe, IL. Clifford was preceded in death by his father, Henry Elliott.

 

Visitation will be at the Palacios Funeral Home Tuesday, July 27, 2004 from 6-8 p.m.

 

Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Palacios at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2004 with Rev. Steve Tompkins officiating. Burial will follow at the Hawley Cemetery in Blessing.

Edith Beatrice Elliott, 84, of Bay City passed away October 18, 2007. She was born December 18, 1922 in East Columbia, Texas to the late Martin John and Hannah Jones Herreth.

 

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Edith and Larry Allen of Bay City; sons Marvin Elliott of Markham & Donald Elliott & wife Kathleen of Roscoe, IL; daughter-in-law Anna Mae Elliott of Austin; seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Elliott and son Clifford Elliott.

Mr. Elliott died Thursday, Nov. 11, 1999 at Methodist Hospital in Houston. He was born May 20, 1925 in Bay City to George D. and Bobbie Williams Elliott.

He is survived by his wife, Bettie Elliott of Bay City; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry R. and Ramona Elliott of Flatonia, Kenneth D. and Annie Elliott of Bay City and Donald Wade and Deane Elliott of Corpus Christi; son and fiancé, David L. Mr. Elliott, 70, died Nov. 9, 1984, in Matagorda General Hospital. He was born Dec. 30, 1914, in Bay City to John William Elliott and the former Melissa Ainsworth.

Mamie “Nannie” Ellis of Bay City passed away March 24, 2008 at the age of 94.

She was born September 13, 1913 in Nacogdoches to the late Levi and Nancy Summers Henderson.

She is survived by: son Jack and wife Tonya Ellis of Bay City; daughters, Betty and husband Jim Yarborough of Vanderbilt, Texas, Ida and husband Ray Curnutte of Onalaska, Texas and Kathy and husband Edwin Anderle of Point Comfort, Texas; honorary son, John Tweedle of Bay City; 21 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren and 36 great-great grandchildren whom she loved with all of her heart.

She was preceded in death by her husband E. A. “Pawpaw” Ellis; daughters Mary Medlin and Lenora Janak and grandson Daniel Ellis.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Green officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Best, Jonathan Medlin, Dennis Ellis, C. J. Howton, Jason Burrier, Rick Janak and Patrick Anderle. All remaining grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.

JAMES ALLAN ENGLISH

VICTORIA - James Allan English, age 81, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009. He was born Feb. 26, 1928, in Emory, to the late Ed and Mary Warren English.

James served in the U.S. Military Armed Forces in the Army and was a war veteran in the Korean War. He retired as a plant operator for Exxon with 40 years of service. He was a Pentacostal and a member of Centro de Albanza.

James is survived by his wife, Estela Longoria English; son, Allan English of Victoria; step-sons, Victor L. Vasquez II of Austin and Joe Louis L. Vasquez of Bay City; step-daughters, Rev. Esther V. Gonzales of Pharr and Minister Mary J. Quintanilla of Victoria; sister, Mamie Burns of Greensville; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Noble English, Raymond English, Vollie English, and J.W. "Jessie" English.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Colonial Funeral Home. A wake service will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Esther V. Gonzales officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery with full military honors under the auspices of Victoria County Veterans Council, AL, CWV, VFW, DAV, MCL, MOWW, Ex-POW, MOPH, VVA and the KWV.

Benito P. Enriquez, 47, of Wharton, a loving father, brother and son, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2008.

Willis M. Epperson, 93, of Blessing died Oct. 24, 2002 at Bay Villa Nursing Home in Bay City. He was born Oct. 7, 1909 in Cedar Bayou, Texas to the late George and Ruby Smith Epperson. Mr. Epperson was a resident of Blessing the past 55 years, a charter member of the First Baptist Church in Blessing, and a 50 plus year member of, and past Master of, the Blessing Masonic Lodge #411 AF & AM. He was a retired compressor operator with Sun Oil.

 

Survivors include: wife of 63 years, Etta Nash Epperson of Blessing; daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Victor Joe Zemanek of Hurst, Texas; grandsons, Sammy Powell of Nashville, Tenessee, and Greg Zemanek and wife Libby of Dallas; granddaughters, Samantha Franzen and husband Derril of Collegeport, and Tracy Lipperdt and husband Glen of Keller, Texas; great granddaughter, Stephany Franzen of College Station, and Savannah Franzen of Collegeport; great grandsons, Tyler and Parker Lipperdt of Keller and Victor John Zemanek of Dallas; and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his daughter Tommye Raye Powell; brothers, Aubrey, Roy, Ish and Virgil Epperson; and sister Mavis Johnson.

 

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, 2002, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Clemons officiating. Interment will follow at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing, Texas.

PALACIOS - Larry James Erdelt, 63, of Palacios, formerly of El Campo, passed away on June 29, 2009. He was born on Sept. 6, 1945, in El Campo, to the late Fred and Annie Taylor Erdelt. He was a 1963 graduate of Louise High School. He was a retired road foreman of engines for BNSF Railroad.

He is survived by his wife, Berniece Zapalac Erdelt of Palacios; son, Jeffrey Erdelt and wife Trena of Katy; daughter, Jill Suzanne Matlock and husband Brad of League City; four grandchildren, Samantha Erdelt, Matthew Erdelt, Ty Matlock, and Taylor Erdelt; sisters, Bea Netardus and husband Eugene of El Campo and Freddye Janssen and husband William of Edna; and brother, Kenneth Erdelt and wife Janet of Ashland, Mass.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, Charles James Zapalac.

BAY CITY - Matilde Herrera Erevia, 73, of Bay City, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2009. He was born March 14, 1936 in New Gulf to the late David Erevia and Maria Herrera Erevia. Matilde was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and a resident of Matagorda County for the past 45 years.

He is survived by five daughters: Rosemary, Elvy, Elizabeth, Mary Jane, and Norma; two sons: Martin and Joe John Erevia; four sisters: Maria, Esparanza, Lucia, and Connie; four brothers: Raymond, Antonio, Angel, and David Erevia; and numerous grandchildren.

Matilde was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Ester.

A rosary will be recited

Frank H. Ertell, 68, of Flemington, Pennsylvania, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 11, 2010, at his home in Flemington, Pennsylvania.

Frank was born April 10, 1942, in Freeport, Texas, as the son of William David and Mary Wildeane Ertell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William D. and Mary Wildeane Ertell; and his son, Gordon Ertell Frank.

Those left, who will cherish his memory, are his longtime girlfriend, Dee Ball; son, Clayton Ertell; daughters, Lisa Larson and Emily Ertell; brothers, Rick Ertell and wife, Robin, Tommy and wife, Gina, William Jr. and wife, Carol;, and sister, Helen and husband, James Proctor; and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was buried Friday, April 16, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing, where he was laid to rest next to his mother and father.

Mary W. Ertell, 86, of Freeport Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior and her loving husband of 55 years William David Ertell.

Mary passed away Thursday March 25, 2010 at her sons home in Richwood Texas. Mary was born January 3, 1924 in Midfield, Texas as the daughter of William H. and Della Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband William D. Ertell, brothers William Lee Smith, J.B. Smith, Robert Henry Smith, Lester Smith, Lesley Wayne Smith and sister Betty Jene.

Mary was a loving wife and mother. She was an outgoing person who loved to talk She never met a stranger and enjoyed interacting with others as often as possible. Mary was very giving and loved doing for others. Most everyone she knew called her Mom Ertell. Even though we know she is in a better place, Mary will be sorely missed by family and friends alike.

Those left who will cherish her memory are: sons, Rick Ertell and wife Robin, Frank and girlfriend Dee, Tommy and wife Gina, William Jr. and wife Carol, and daughter, Helen and husband James Proctor; sisters, Louise, Ola Mae, Lee Eva and Barbara. Her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially Michele and Beth Ann will miss her, as well as many whom she claimed as hers. She is leaving behind many good friends whom she loved and who loved her.

We will all miss you but will see you again one day. We love you very much.

Garza and wife Pabla of El Campo, Rosa Castro, Angelica Vega and husband Baltazar, Noe Escobedo, Jr. and wife Florentina, Javier Escobedo, Sr and wife Martha, Patricia Escobedo and husband Demetric Monroe and Veronica Mora, all of Bay City; by his sisters, Kina Garcia of Dallas and Juana Escobedo of Matamores, Mexico; his brothers, Benjamin Escobedo of Brownsville and Rodrigo Escobedo of Houston; and by 29 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mayra Angelica Espinosa, 19, of Clute, Tx. were held March 21, 2009 at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Clute with Father Jim Lynes officiating.

Mayra was born Oct. 1, 1989, in Laredo, Tx. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 17, 2009 in Houston.

She had attended school in Palacios until the fifth grade and graduated from Brazoswood High School in 2008.

She is survived by sons Sergio Luis Villicana, Jr. and Avian Joel Villicana; her fiancé, Sergio Luis Villicana, Sr.; parents Jose and Catalina Espinosa; grandparents Ramona Garcia, Roberto Espinosa and Jose Aguirre; brothers Robert Espinosa and Jose R. Espinoza, Jr.; and many other loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Micaela Aguirre.

Funeral services for Robert Espinosa, 56, of Lake Jackson, Tx. were held Nov. 24, 2008 in St. Paul’s Catholic Church, San Antonio. Interment was in San Antonio.

Mr. Espinosa was born Aug. 8, 1952 in Palacios to Juanita Alvarez Espinosa and the late Guadalupe Espinosa, Sr. He died at his home Nov. 20, 2008 after a long illness.

He graduated from Palacios High School in 1971. He married Margaret Castro Espinosa on Oct. 6, 1979 in St. Paul’s Catholic Church, San Antonio. Robert was a devoted husband, a loving father and an adoring grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
He was employed by Dow Chemical for 24 years and the Chocolate Bayou Plant in Brazoria County for two years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Mrs. Margaret Espinosa of Lake Jackson; daughter and son-in-law, Venessa and Christopher Harrell and granddaughter, Caylin Harrell; and step-son and daughter-in-law, Marcos and Norma Romero. He is also survived by his mother, Juanita Espinosa of Palacios; sisters Theresa (Terry) Espinosa Farina of Tequesta, Florida; Carol Espinosa Guajardo of Benevides, Tex; Diana Espinosa Galindo of San Antonio; Janet Espinosa Flores of Austin; and brother, Anthony Espinosa of LaMarque, Tx.

Kenneth Preston Estes
August 5, 1933 - May 17, 2011

Ken Estes, of Burnet, TX went to be with his Lord and Savior May 17, 2011. Ken was born August 5, 1933 in Live Oak, County, Texas and was raised in Bishop, Texas where he graduated from High School in 1951. After attending Del Mar Jr. College and working for Baroid, he went to work for Celanese Chemical Company at the Bishop Plant in 1957. Ken was transferred to the Bay City Plant in 1963 as an Operations Shift Supervisor and retired as a Human Resources Section Leader after 36 years of service.

From 1957 until present, he led the music ministries in various churches of the communities in which he lived and ministered in Revival Meetings and Bible Conferences in surrounding areas. After retirement, he and his wife Jerry participated in Campground Ministries all over the US. Ken retired from music ministry at Bay City Baptist Church in 2006 and moved to Burnet, TX.

Survivors include his beloved and devoted wife of 25 years, Jerry Estes, whom together have 6 children: Tanya Moczygemba and husband, Gery of Seguin, TX, Gaylon McCoy of Alvin, TX, Joel Estes and wife, Kathy of Richmond, TX, Eric Estes of Alvin, TX, Darrell Hon and wife, Geneva of Livingston, TX, and Deborah Overhoff and husband, Mike of Kingwood, TX. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Tom Estes and wife, Patty of Bishop, TX, Tim Estes and wife, Linda of Kingsville, TX, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents E.C. (Easy) and Loyce Estes.

Maggie McKelvy Estlinbaum

Aug. 19, 1916 - Dec. 17, 2009

Maggie McKelvy Estlinbaum, 93, was born in Bay City, Texas, on August 19, 1916, the 13th child of John Wesley and Maggie Drew McKelvy.

She passed away on December 17, 2009, in Bay City, Texas.

Maggie and Clyde Estlinbaum married on December 20, 1936, at the First Presbyterian Church in Bay City. They made their home in Wadsworth until 1952.

Maggie is survived by: her children, John "Hoody" Estlinbaum and his wife Shelby, of Bay City, and Lola Estlinbaum Huitt of Spring Branch, Texas.

Maggie is also survived by: six grandchildren, Craig Estlinbaum, Mike Estlinbaum, Deb Fieldsend, Cat Huitt, Adam Huitt, and Brad Huitt; and by 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Maggie was preceded in death by: her husband, Clyde Estlinbaum, who passed away on October 15, 1982.

She also was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers: Wesley, Mart, Siaro, Edward, William, James, Beall, Johnny and W.G. "Cudgy;" and by her sisters Lola Elizabeth, Mittie Irene, and Nora Bell.

Maggie was installed into the Eastern Star, served as Worthy Matron and was a Lifetime Member. She volunteered at Matagorda General Hospital as a Pink Lady from 1961 until she retired. She was an avid bridge player and her other hobbies included cooking and knitting.

The family extends its heartfelt appreciation to the Matagorda House Health Care Center (The Legacy) and Houston Hospice of El Campo staffs for the tender and loving care they provided to their mother during her last years.

The family request no flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Bay City or to a charity of choice.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home Chapel.

SHELBY LYNN ESTLINBAUM

BAY CITY - Shelby Lynn Williamson Estlinbaum, 71, of Bay City passed away on May 22, 2010. She was born on Jan. 31, 1939 in Muskogee, Okla., to Cecil and Chloe Williamson. She moved with her family to Bay City from Torrance, Calif. in 1947 and resided in Bay City for 63 years.

Shelby is survived by her supporting and loving husband of 50 years, John "Hoody" Estlinbaum. She is also survived by her sons, Craig Estlinbaum and his wife Julie and Mike Estlinbaum and his wife Jessica. She is survived by three grandchildren: grandsons, Drew Estlinbaum and Matthew Estlinbaum, and granddaughter, Shelby Estlinbaum. Her survivors also include her brother, Mike Willamson and his wife Kay of Houston and their daughter, Jodi, and her children, Kristen and Cole Matteson, also of Houston.

Shelby was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where she was an elementary age Sunday school teacher and music leader for 35 years. She was awarded Wesley Class Mother of the Year in 1975 in recognition of her service to church and family. Shelby earned her teaching degree from UH-Victoria and began her 25-year teaching career in the Tidehaven ISD. She later taught third grade at Tenie Holmes Elementary in Bay City for years. She enjoyed traveling, including to Mexico, Egypt, Israel, the Scandinavias and the British Isles. She enjoyed spending time with her family, watching baseball games, dance recitals and fair competitions. She also enjoyed going to deer camp with Hoody and her family. Shelby's community involvement included volunteering in her sons' activities, notably, Bay City Little League and Cub Scouts. She was a member of the Bay City Junior Service League and the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Her hobbies included gardening, reading, photography, southwest art and scrapbooking. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Bay City with Rev. Chris Harrison and Rev. Pauline Harvey officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.

Pallbearers will be Doug Huebner, David Kristynik, Billy Mann, Malcolm Romine, William Townsend and Greg Westmoreland.

The family request no flowers. Donations may be directed to the First United Methodist Church of Bay City, the Matagorda County Museum, or a charity of choice.

Alfredo Arias Estrada
March 25, 1949 - Oct. 12, 2010

Alfredo Arias Estrada, 61, of Bay City, passed away October 12, 2010. He was born March 25, 1949 in San Benito, Texas to Fortunato Estrada and Lucinda Arias Estrada.

He was a lifelong resident of Bay City, a landscaper and a member of the Church of Christ of West Columbia.

He is survived by: his wife, Patricia Alfaro Estrada of Bay City; his father, Fortunato Estrada of Houston; his daughters, Lisa (Rogelio) Perez and Christina (Aaron) Escobar of Bay City; by his sons, Alfred (Rosalinda) Estrada of Wharton, Abraham Estrada and David (Monica) Estrada of Bay City; his sisters, Gloria Estrada of Houston and Mary Helen Estrada; his brothers, David and Rudy Estrada of Houston; and by 16 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 18, 2010 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with the Brother David Weeks officiating.

Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.

May she rest in peace.

Sister Rosario Estrada, a loving Sister of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament of Victoria, went to her eternal reward on Thursday, September 18, 2008 after a short illness with Stage 4 Adenoma Carcinoma.

Sister Rosario leaves behind two brothers, two sisters, nephews and a niece and man sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament in and around the Victoria area.

Sister will also be greatly missed by the many super friends she made during her six years of teaching ministry at Holy Cross in Bay City. Many students were touched by her love of God and neighbor. Service with a smile was on of her greatest attributes.

Everyone will miss Sister Estrada. However, all know she is rejoicing as she reaps the rewards of her labor.

SANTOS SUNIGA ESTRADA


PASADENA - Santos Suniga Estrada, 89, of Pasadena, passed away peacefully April 1, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 13, 1919, in Victoria, to the late Camarino and Hila Garcia Suniga. She had been a parishioner of St. Pius V Catholic Church in Pasadena since 1972.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Estrada; son, Jose Alfredo Estrada; sisters, Margarita S. Morales and Mamie S. Zboral; and brother, Victor Suniga.

She is survived by her daughters, Janie Castillo of El Campo, Curzita Ortega and husband Joe of Houston, Delia Castillo and husband Teodoro of Pasadena, Lydia Tabares of Pasadena, and Rosita Perez and husband Roberto of Houston; daughter-in-law, Debra Estrada of Burlington, Iowa; sons, Rey Estrada and wife Frances of Pasadena, Tony Estrada and wife Mary of Bay City, Cristobel Z. Estrada of Lake Jackson, and Daniel Estrada and wife Michelle of Clute. Her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew her as "Little Granny". She was their love and inspiration. She is also survived by her brother, Tiodoro Suniga; and sisters, Guadalupe Magnia and Fustina Zboral, all of Bay City, and Thomasita Pacheco and husband Lalo of Four Oaks, N.C.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 4, 2008 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.

Pallbearers will be Ted Castillo, Robert Perez, Richard Garza, Benny Castillo, Tony Estrada, and Chris Estrada.

Jerry Wayne Etgen
(September 21, 1965 - June 17, 2007)

Jerry Wayne Etgen, 41, of Bay City, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2007. He was born September 21, 1965 in Waco, TX to Marvin Etgen and Lilla Pauline Caldwell Etgen. He was a resident of Bay City for the past 37 years and a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Bay City. He attended the Edith Armstrong Workshop for the Mentally Handicapped, was an avid participant in the Special Olympics, was a former Bay City Volunteer Fire Dept. Mascot and enjoyed camping and the outdoors.

He is survived by his mother: Pauline Etgen; brothers: David Michael Etgen and Marvin Paul Etgen; grandmother: JoAn Caldwell; uncle: Jerry M. Caldwell, all of Bay City; and his aunt: Coco Caldwell of Victoria. He was preceded in death by his father: Marvin Etgen; by his grandparents: Otha Caldwell, Willie and Emma Etgen; and his aunt: JoAnn Etgen.

The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Morgan and Bro. Steve Sieben officiating. Pallbearers will be Randy Frontz, A.T. Jean Ann Etheridge was born on October 25,1952, to her parents, J.A. “Babe” and Wilma Jean Appling.

She was called home to be with the Lord on the 5th of November 2010.

She was a loving mother, wife, sister, and grandmother. She will always be missed but never forgotten.

She is preceded in death by: her parents; grandmother, Virginia Manning; and grandchildren, Rayden and Kaylee Ann Gail.

She leaves behind: a loving husband, Nathan Etheridge; son, Douglas Chastain; daughters, Tara (Kenneth) Brewer, Jaimi (Roy Lee) Chastain; brother, Bruce Appling; sister, Helen McIntosh and family; grandsons, A.J., Dustin, Wedo, Cheyenne, Dakota Morales; granddaughters, Kiya Jean Chastain and Areeana Brewer; great-grandchild, Nevaeh and Allen James Morales; stepchildren, Nathan and Shawna Etheridge, Andres (Heather) Morales; and so many more extended family and friends.

Mary Elizabeth Etie, 84, of Bay City passed away Monday, April 21, 2008. She was born February 9, 1924 in Charco, Texas to the late Emma Elizabeth Hall Smith & Henry Alonzo Smith. Mrs. Etie was a Baptist, a resident of Bay City since 1937, and was a President of the Residence at The Legacy.

She is survived by her brother: Henry Alonzo Smith Jr. of Nederland TX; 4 nephews: Ronnie Smith, Kyle Smith, Neil Etie, and Louie Etie; and 3 Nieces: Elizabeth Gay Easterly, Mary Ann Knowles, and Jacqueline Lea Webber. Mrs. Etie was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Kenneth Etie in 2002; brother: Frank Howard Smith; and niece: Debbie K. Burton.

A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday April 23, 2008 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Glenn Easterly officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Glenn Easterly, Louie Etie, Neil Etie, Kyle Smith, Ronnie Smith, and Christopher John Webber.

Michelle Jo Evans, 62, of Bay City, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2009 in Houston, Texas.

She was born October 17, 1946 in Defiance, Ohio to Virgil Eugene Dauth and Donna June Smith Dauth. She was a secretary for Evans Oil Company and a long time resident of Bay City.

She is survived by: her husband: Mitch Evans of Bay City; her daughter, Carolyn Nicole Schneider and husband Jarrod of Ft. Drum, New York; her sons, Craig Troy Evans and wife Marrie of Bay City, David Charles Evans of Atlanta, Georgia and Travis Mitchell Evans and wife Doris Elizabeth of Sealy, Texas; by her brother, Kyle E. Dauth and wife Barbara of Hurst, Texas; and by her grandchildren, Tabetha Skylar Evans, Troy Eugene Evans, Loraine Nicole Evans, Makayla Rayne Evans, Jordan Thomas Evans and Samantha Paige Evans.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Virgil E. and Donna June Dauth.

The family will receive visitors from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at the funeral home.

Dorris Elizabeth Everett, 63, of Palacios passed away April 21, 2010. She was born June 15, 1946 in New Orleans, Louisiana to the late John Edmond & Glenna Bess Dorris Fitzmorris.

Survivors include longtime friend & companion Clifford Wright of Palacios; daughter Jennifer Mott of Memphis, TN; sons Stephen Everett of Boston & Brian Everett & wife Meshell of Houston; grandchildren Cage, Jordan & Nicolas Mott, and Robert & Serena Everett and Aunt Gladys Wilson. Her brother Charles Fitzmorris preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the Palacios Funeral Home.
