Grace Bullard Keener
(May 18, 1923 - May 18, 2014)

Grace Bullard Keener of Bay City passed away on her 91st Birthday, May 18, 2014. She was born May 18, 1923 in El Campo, Texas to the late Joseph Clifton Bullard and Rosie Emma Marek Bullard

Grace is preceded in death by her parents; husband C.B. “Cotton” Keener; brothers Cliff, Mike, Marion, Oliver, Henry and Billy Bullard; sisters Mary August Glase, Emma Foltyn, Lucille Rodgers and Elizabeth. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 21 from 10:00-11:00am at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a. m. with Rev. Dr. Mark W. Stoub officiating. Interment will be at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Ashcraft, Tony Wells, Kerry Crowley, Wayne Morris, Lonnie Bullard and Jake Foltyn.

Joe Kelly

August 9, 1946 – July 13, 2014

Joe Kelly, 67, of Bay City, TX, passed away July 13, 2014.

He was born August 9, 1946 in Bay City, TX, to George Bud Kelly and Raye Tillmon Kelly. He and his father co-owned Kelly’s Car Care in Bay City for many years.

He loved to fish and cook, especially bar-b-que, but most of all , he loved spending time with his three grandchildren. His favorite pastime was cheering on those girls at the softball fields.

His father preceded him in death.

Survivors include his mother, Raye Kelly of Bay City; wife, Carol Kelly of Bay City; daughters, Allison Lawhon and Alisha Kelly, both of Bay City; sister, Peggy Roone and husband Bill of Bay City; grandchildren, Karley Kelly, Sydney Lawhon and Brody Lawhon; nephew, Paul Roome and wife Bridget; niece, Patricia Bell and husband Doug; uncle and aunt, Jay and June Tillmon; close cousins, Kelley Ann Young, Nell McKinney, John Jennings, Gloria Ziegenhals and Bill Kelly; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Van Vleck, with the Rev. Bob Hobbins and the Rev. Chester Sassman officiating.

Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Bubba Simons, Christopher Sneath, Bobby Tucker, John Jennings, Chris Hinman and Matt Lawhon.

Mary Beth Mask Kemp

October 28, 1928 – April 27, 2014

Mary Beth Mask Kemp went home to her heavenly Father on Sunday, April 27, 2014.

She was born October 28, 1928, in the home of grandparents, Henry E. and Mary Becker of Anderson, Grimes County, Texas, to parents, Ella Becker West and Hugh Othel West. Raised by her grandparents, Henry and Mary, she graduated from Navasota High School in Navasota, Texas. She moved from Bishop, Texas to Bay City, Texas in July of 1961. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she taught 4th and 5th grade Sunday School and Girl’s Auxiliary. She was also a member of Adult l Sunday School Gleaners Class. She married Albert Kemp in 1999.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Kemp; grandparents; parents; half-sister, Ruth Maddox; half-sister, Cloye West Catchings; and half-brother, Hugh West.

She is survived by her daughter, Celia Beth Shaver of Arlington, Texas; son, Kevin Kyle Mask (Beatrice) of Southlake, Texas; grandchildren, Christopher Scott Jenkins (Kelly) of Keller, Texas, Corey Adam Shaver (Moska) of Humble, Texas, Megan Haley Mask of Dallas, Texas and Kody Kyle Mask of Southlake, Texas; cousins, Judy Roskosky (John) of Angleton, Texas and Jeannine Sims (Cecil) of Portland, Oregon; niece, Kay Keeling (Ken) of Huntsville, Texas; step-children, Kristie Kemp Marchant (Paul), Craig Kemp (Claudia), David Kemp (Lou) and Annette Kemp; and her caregiver and friend, Carol Lynn Guynes.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City, Texas, with the Rev. Dr. Mike Zimmerman officiating.

Visitation will be from held from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery.

Mr. William King

Mr. William King, age 51 years 8 months 29 days, passed away at the family residence in Blessing, Texas, Wednesday night. He has been engaged in the drug business for 10 years, in Blessing.

Mr. King is survived by his wife, Mrs. William King of Blessing, Texas, two daughters, Mrs. M. C. Bess, Corpus Christi, Texas and Mrs. M. H. Meadows of Vanderbilt, Texas; two sons, William George and Henry David King of Blessing, Texas. Mr. King’s other relatives live in England.

Funeral services will be Friday morning from the family residence in Blessing with Bishop Quinn of Houston, Texas, officiating. Burial will be in Hawley Cemetery with Blessing Masonic Lodge having charge.

Funeral arrangements are in charge of Taylor Bros.

BAY CITY - Anita Ford Knapp, 73, of Bay City, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2014.

A visitation will be held from 2 - 8 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2014 at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Mother Zion Baptist Church, with Rev. Murray Martin as pastor and Rev. C.L. Wallace as eulogist. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery.

Eleanor Josephine Bures Knebel

February 14, 1919 - September 21, 2014

Eleanor Josephine Bures Knebel, 95, passed away quietly September 21, 2014, at the Matagorda Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1919, in Midfield, TX, to the late Joseph B. Bures and Theresa Brhlik Bures Krenek. After graduating from Blessing High School, she married George F. Knebel, on August 30, 1938, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Blessing, TX. They were married for 51 years until his death, in January, 1990.

Eleanor was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the K.J.Z.T., AARP, American Legion Post 649 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Phillip H. Parker VFW Post 2438 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the Holy Cross Altar Society, and along with Lillian Milberger, organized the First Annual Turkey Dinner. Eleanor was a certified dental assistant and worked with Robert B. Kelly, DDS for 34 years, until her retirement in 1991.

Throughout her life, Eleanor enjoyed sewing, hand stitching, dancing, cooking and baking. She loved playing dominos, black jack, and traveling with her family and friends. She always took great pride in her appearance. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Besides her parents; and husband; she was preceded in death by her sister, Elsie Kana.

Survivors include her daughter, Margaret Hicks and husband Travis of Bay City; son, George Knebel Jr. and wife Irene of Hallettsville, TX; grandchildren, Kristi Knebel Wolchansky and husband David, Kent Hicks and wife Becky, and Kimberly Hicks; and great-grandchildren, Taylor Allen, Samantha Hicks and Mason Hicks. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Dorothy Knebel Jenkins and Carmen Russo Knebel; brother-in-law, Billie Jenkins; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 24, 2014, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, Bay City, TX.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 25, 2014, at Holy Cross Catholic Church with the Rev. Greg Korenek officiating.

Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, Van Vleck, TX.

Memorials may be made in her name to Holy Cross Catholic School, Holy Cross Catholic Church or the charity of your choice.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kent Hicks, Michael Kana, Mark Kana, Donny Knebel, Joe Jenkins. Larry Knebel, Arthur Lawrence and Arthur Milberger.

Honorary pallbearers will be Frank Pokluda, Ralph Pokluda, Robert Kelly, Gilbert Saha, Ronnie Knebel, Steve Cashion, David Wolchancky, Eddie Knebel Jr., Jimmy Knebel, Kenny Kruppa and Fred Holub.

David Allen Kocurek

 

Funeral services for David Allen Kocurek, 64, of Palacios were held last Wed. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with burial following at the Palacios Cemetery. David was born January 20, 1950 in Palacios to Dorothy Shimek Kocurek and the late Paul Kocurek and he passed away on September 6, 2014.

 

He is survived by his mother; wife, Rita Kocurek of Palacios; daughters Jasmina Kocurek and Jelisa Kocurek, both of Palacios; son, Nathan (Marie) Kocurek of McKinney; grandchildren, Aaron Kocurek, Brian Kocurek and Mei Kocurek; sisters, Debbie Barnett of Palacios, Margaret Pena of Castroville, Mellisa Brown of Sweeny, and Angie Castanon of Palacios; and brothers, Jerry Kocurek of Danbury, Tom Kocurek of Palacios, Andy Kocurek of Van Vleck, Patrick Kocurek of Oregon, Tim Kocurek of Florida, Chris Kocurek of Angleton, and Richard Kocurek of Palacios.

He was preceded in death by his father.
 

Pallbearers were Nathan Kocurek, Trent Kocurek, Librado Segovia, Jr., Ryan Olivares, Thomas Castanon and Richard Stelzer.

William Frank Krobot
(October 14, 1930 - June 17, 2014)

William Frank Krobot, 83, peacefully went to his reward on Tuesday, June 17, 2014. Born October 14, 1930 to Frank and Josephine Krobot in Needville, Texas. William, known to everyone as “Bill”, attended Van Vleck Schools, graduating in 1948. Bill was active in Sports and was a Star Athlete. After graduation, Bill worked for Rugeley Motor Company in Bay City then joined the United States Air Force in 1952, serving as an Aircraft Technician. On February 7, 1953, Bill married his sweetheart, Elsie Ella Hartfield and their union was blessed with 61 wonderful years of marriage. In 1956, Bill returned to Van Vleck, Tx after his service to our country and began a long career in the Automotive Parts Industry. Bill worked for Dependable Motor Parts (NAPA) for many years, finally retiring in 1998. Bill was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Van Vleck and was previously active in the Van Vleck Volunteer Fire Department for several years and served as Fire Chief. Throughout his life, Bill was also extremely successful in farming and ranching and thoroughly enjoyed supporting the local 4H and FFA programs. Bill had a passion for gardening and took pleasure in sharing his vegetables with family and friends. Later in his life, Bill was a member of the Bay City American Legion Post 11. Bill and Elsie were blessed with four sons, Kenneth, twins, Ronald and Donald and Stephen. Bill and Elsie retired to his family home place and built a beautiful home that he always dreamed about with his personal fishing spot out his back door. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Josephine, brothers Irvin and John F. and his son Donald. Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who thoroughly enjoyed reminiscing with family and friends about his awesome life experiences. Bill affectionately was known as Pops to his family and loved to joke around while visiting with friends. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing and usually had numerous stories to tell everyone about his experiences. Bill is survived by his wife, Elsie, son, Kenneth and wife Rebecca from San Antonio, Tx; Ronald and wife Cristina from Belton, Tx; and Stephen and wife Terri from Shrewsbury, PA. Also, two sisters Louise Viviyal from Guy, Tx and Dorothy Beard from Bay City, Tx. Eight Grandchildren, Lisa Novak from San Antonio Tx, William Keith Krobot from Marble Falls Tx, Ashley Krobot from San Marcos Tx, Justin Krobot from San Antonio Tx, Jessica Krobot from Belton Tx and Kaileigh, Kristin and Paige Krobot from Shrewsbury, PA. Also, one great grandchild, Willam Bode Krobot from Marble Falls, TX and numerous nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. The family will receive friends and relatives from 5PM until 7PM Saturday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kenny Carter officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will be Robert Roe, Jason Roe, Ross Roe, Kyle Krobot, Mark Krobot, Marvin Hartfield, Gary Farris, and Mike Wade. Honorary pallbearers will be Shannon Champion, Mark Mach, Ken Leck, Ronnie Bose, Levi Callis, Bill Lacy, Paul Roe, John Edd Storts andGary Mathews.
