Audrey Hobbs LaBeff, born March 6, 1926, in Clemville, [Matagorda County], Texas, departed this life to be with her Lord May 1, 2004.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Carlton LaBeff, son Baby Boy LaBeff, parents and step-parents Alfred Hobbs, Verlie and Bill Steinmeyer, Molly Sparks, and sister Ann Hale.

Survivors: daughter and son-in-law D'Ann and Frank Hurta, daughter and son-in-law Cathy and Cliff Thomas, daughter and son-in-law Joane and Robert Zemanek, son and daughter-in-law Carlton and Teri LaBeff; grandchildren Jared Hurta and wife Kaylynn, Rachel Ann Hurta, Ashlie Thomas, Whitney Thomas, Mary Elizabeth Thomas, Chris Zemanek and wife Heather, Becky Watts and husband Shane, William Zemanek, DC3 James LaBeff USN and wife Stacy, Matthew LaBeff, Audrey LaBeff, Luke LaBeff; great-grandchildren Jordan Hurta, Lauren Hurta, Emma Zemanek, Preslie Thomas; brothers Jim Steinmeyer, Gene Steinmeyer and wife Jan, brother-in-law Gordon Hale; many lifelong friends and her beloved "Dollie".

All her life, Audrey was guided by and sustained by her faith in her Lord. She truly lived her beliefs. Also shaped by a strong pioneer spirit, Audrey felt that a person should work hard, pull his own weight, and strive to do what is right.

Audrey believed there was no higher calling in life than to be a wife and mother, and her greatest joy was having her family all together. Her legacy to her family is a lifetime of love, which has created a lasting bond of love, concern, and continuity among the generations.

Pallbearers will be Audrey's grandsons: Jared Hurta, Shane Watts, Chris Zemanek, William Zemanek, James LaBeff, Matthew LaBeff, and Luke LaBeff.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 2 at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home in Bay City, Texas.

The service will be held Monday, May 3 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Markham, Texas.

Burial will be in Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City, Texas.

Leah Landrum, 83, of Bay City, passed away Friday, March 17, 2002 in Bay City. She was born March 9, 1919 in Caney, Kan. to Perry and Mayme Byram Brown. She was a 50 year resident of Bay City, a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a member of the church Circle Group, the D.A.R. and the Book Review Club. She was a Salvation Army Volunteer and a Bay Villa Nursing Home Volunteer.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Joe Rorie of Bay City; by her son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Carole Landrum of Rosenberg; by her grandchildren, Keenan Landrum of Rosenberg and Susan Groce and husband Jack of Wadsworth; and by her great-grandchildren, Halle and Rebekah Hajducek and Jackie, Brian and Hannah Groce, all of Wadsworth. She was preceded in death by her husband, L. M. "Fritz" Landrum and by her parents Perry and Mayme Brown.

Graveside funeral services were held at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2002 at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City in Bay City with the Rev. Sam Steele officiating.

Allie Mae Lane, 88, of Bay City, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2000 at her residence. She was born April 11, 1912 in Waelder, Texas to parents Asa Smith and Roxie Bell Neal Johnson.

She worked for the Bay City Independent School District for over 20 years including several years as cafeteria supervisor. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church and was also a member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary at Matagorda General Hospital.

She is survived by: a son and daughter-in-law, George and Maro Lane of Vail, Colo.; two daughters, Betty Phillips of Lahaska, PA. and Barbara Cocke of Sacramento, Calif.; two brothers, Earl Johnson of Bay City and Hugh Mack Johnson of Houston; sisters-in-law, Wynell Johnson of Bay City and Myrtle Johnson of Colo.; 10 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Sunday, April 30, 2000 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Michael Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery.

Pallbearers will include: John Crenshaw, Mike Baker, T. J. Middleton, Rodger Ward, Joe Rowland and James Sowell.

Services are under the direction of Bay City Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Blanche Lane, 90, of Bay City will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Mother Zion Baptist Church, Bay City, with the Rev. Murray G. Martin, eulogist.

She was born in Dewitt County, Texas, October 16, 1920, to Tom Lane, Sr., and Letha Smith Lane, and passed away Thursday June 9, 2011 in Bay City.

Rev. Melchor Lara, 68, went to rest with His Lord on Sunday, January 8, 2012. He was born on January 6, 1944 to the late Atilano and Fidencia Lara. His strengths in life was the faith, prayer and the love he had to serve his Savior Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his wife: Maria Juana Lara; his children: Jorge Lara, Jose Lara, Jose Luis Lara, Gregorio Lara, Heralio Lara, Cilvia Reyes, Alejandra Estrada, Joshua Lara, Raquel Gonzales and Angelica Gurrola; 24 Grandchildren; 5 Great-grandchildren; Brothers and sisters are late Felicia Lara, Angel Lara, Augustin Lara, Jova Lara, Juana Lara and Maria Lara.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 11, 2012 with a Musical celebration service from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the funeral home. Sadie Hill Lawrence, 90, of Richmond, Texas died August 2,2004 at Polly Ryan Memorial Hospital in Richmond.

She was born December 31, 1913 in Huntington, Texas. She was a resident of Bay City since 1937 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bay City.

She also was a faithful member of the Bay City Chapter of the Order of the Easter Star No. 380 and a charter member of the Bay City Chapter of the Social Order of Bociants (wives of Knight Templar Commandery).

She also was a member of the Board of The Rainbows No. 119, where her daughters were very active.

Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Bobbie and Thomas Felder of Victoria, and Joyce and Sam Steffee of Richmond; brother, Jack Hill and wife Gloria of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Darrell Felder and Dianne Felder, Denise Robinson, Donna Henry, Sarah Niermeyer and husband Tom, Cathy Fiser and husband Robb, and David Steffee; great- grandchildren, Lauren and Robert Felder, Jesse Iiams, Jack, Megan, Sadie Niermeyer, and Lilly Fiser; also by Laine Felder, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Lawrence.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 6, 2004, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Key officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.

Services for Chepos [Cephas/Cefus?] Franklin Laxton, 75, were held Sunday from the chapel at Taylor Brothers Funeral Home. The Rev. Ellis J. Veale officiated.

Burial was in Cedarvale Cemetery, with the funeral home in charge.

Mr. Laxton is survived by one daughter, Mrs. A. R. Hand of Victoria; three sons, W. L. of Victoria, L. V. and F. E., of Bay City; three sisters, Mrs. Arthur Hughes of Wolfarth, Mrs. Homer Cheek of Greenville, and Mrs. Elizabeth Swallow of Fort Worth; one brother, W. S. of Greenville.

Albert Tyron Lemon
Nov. 18, 1963 – Nov. 12, 2011

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2011, at Nichols Street Church of Christ, 1200 Nichols Avenue, Bay City, Texas, with a viewing at 10 a.m. and services starting at 11 a.m.

Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m.Friday, November 11, 2011, at Green’s Mortuary, 2702 Avenue C, Bay City, Texas, 77414.

Burial will follow immediately after services at Eastview Cemetery in Bay City, Texas.

Albert Tyron Lemon was born on November 18, 1963, in Bay City, Texas to the late Albert Lemon, Jr. and Bessie Harkless Lemon.

He departed this life at the age of 47 on Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at River Regional Medical Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi after a short illness.

Tyron was the second born of four children. He grew up and attended public school in Bay City, Texas, and at an early age, he obeyed the gospel at Moore Avenue Church of Christ. He spent most of his adult life in Crystal Springs, Mississippi where he was employed for many years in the field of construction and roofing. Tyron was considered a jack of all trades and was known for being good with his hands, always willing to extend his services to those in need.

He was very outgoing, loved socializing, and had many friends. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, watching sports, and engaging in outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, and working with animals.

Tyron was preceded in death by his father, Albert Lemon, Jr. and two grandsons, Ja’Vunte Tavion White and Bri’Vion Keith Curry.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Bessie Lee Lemon of Bay City, Texas; one daughter, Prashawna Shante White of Houston, Texas; two sons, Tyron Allen Barnes and Matthew Gerard Barnes of Jackson, Mississippi; one brother, Miko Sherrod Lemon of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Bevy Lynette Lemon of Houston, Texas and Stephanie Michelle Bell (Derek) of Katy, Texas; two granddaughters, Bri’Aiona Kaylynn Curry of Houston, Texas and Caitlyn Michelle Barnes of Jackson, Mississippi; two grandsons, TyQuavious Carlmichael Barnes and TyQuaun Gerard Barnes of Jackson,Mississippi; a devoted friend and companion, Diane Barnes of Jackson, Mississippi; one nephew, Miko Desmond Lemon of Houston, Texas; one niece, Kenadie Lauren Bell of Katy, Texas; six aunts, Mildred Webb (James) of Oakland, California, Ella Newsome (Mack) of Houston, Texas, Carol Harkless of Houston, Texas, Mary Moses of Houston, Texas, Vivian Dent (Lee) of Austin, Texas, and Patsy King of Sugar Land, Texas; two great-uncles, Marshall Scott of El Maton, Texas and Roscoe Scott (Patricia) of Houston, Texas, and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Lillian Mitchell LeMonds, 80, of Bay City died April 10, 2003 at her residence. She was born April 7, 1923 in Matagorda Co., TX to the late Martin and Fidelia Goodman Loose. She was a life long resident of Bay City and was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.

Linda Ann Libby, 59, of Bay City died July 4, 2000 at Gulf Coast Medical Center Hospital in Wharton. She was born May 13, 1941 in Electra, Texas to the late Robert Vancleeve and late Josephine Mullins Wallace. Mrs. Libby was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church and a resident of Bay City the past 30 years.

She was born Nov. 30, 1956, in Port Lavaca to Arturo Silvas and Santos Guerra Pena Silvas. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, a former resident of Bay City and has been a resident of West Columbia for the past year.

She is survived by: her children, Rebecca Llanes of West Columbia and Eric Llanes of Bay City; her sister, Margarita Sanchez of Groesbeck; her brothers, Arturo a Silvas of China Springs and Rolando Silvas of Bay City; and her grandchildren, Markus Galvan and Michelle Galvan both of West Columbia.

She was preceded in death by: her father, Arturo Silvas; and her mother, Santos G. Silvas Coronado.

Benito C. Longoria Sr.
(February 8, 1933 - December 1, 2011)

Benito C. Longoria Sr., 78, of Blessing passed away Thursday, December 1, 2011 in Bay City. He was born February 8, 1933 in Kennedy, TX to the late Francisco & Natividad Cruz Longoria. Benito was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He will be strongly missed by his church and community. Benito was always willing to help others. He was retired from Matagorda County Precinct # 4 after 31 years of service as an operator of a Maintainer. He loved music, playing a 12-string guitar with his brother in a band, and singing in the church choir. Everyone in Blessing knew him for his good Bar-B-Que.

Benito is survived by his loving wife: Mary Carrillo Longoria; 4 children: Benito Longoria Jr. & spouse Lionijes, Stella Longoria Basquez & spouse Robert, Rickey Longoria Sr. & spouse Debra, and Bobby Longoria & spouse Alma; 10 grandchildren: Benito Longoria III, Denese Longoria, Brittany Basquez, Christy Basquez, Ashley Longoria, Rickey Longoria Jr., Alazae Longoria, Bobby Longoria, Selene Longoria, and Alaina Longoria; and 4 great grand children: Nickolas Longoria, Gracie Longoria, Brayden Basquez, and Isabella Longoria.

A rosary will be recited 6:30 PM Sunday, December 4, 2011 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Blessing. A mass will be held 10:00 AM Monday, December 5, 2011 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Blessing with Father Peter Yeboah-Amanfo officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Blessing. Serafin Herrera Lopez, Sr., 51, of Bay City, passed away Monday, May 1, 2000, at his residence. He was born Aug. 29, 1948, in Mexico City, Mexico, to Sidronio Lopez and Imalda Herrera Lopez.

He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and a resident of Bay City for the past 25 years.

He is survived by: his wife, Guadalupe Garcia Lopez of Bay City; by his daughters and sons-in-law, Sonia and Pete Garcia, Maricela and Pete Cervantes, and Lorena and Fernando Lopez, all of Bay City; his sons and daughters-in-law, Martin Lopez of Bay City and Sid and Christina Lopez of Victoria; three sisters; six brothers; and seven grandchildren.

Woodrow Louis “Woody” Ludwig, 89, of Bay City, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2011. He was born February 21, 1922 in Breslau, TX to Karl Frederick “Charlie” Ludwig and Vlasta Solumunek Ludwig. He was a resident of Bay City for the past 60 years, a retired Pipe fitter, and was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay City.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Leola Kretzschmar Ludwig and by his parents. He is survived by his daughters: Sandra K Welfel and husband Eugene of Bay City and Julie Karee Carr and husband Kirk of Bay City; by his grandchildren: Rebecca Park, Elizabeth Bridges, Ryan Carr, DeAnn Allen, Russell Welfel, and Nicole Sitz; and by 10 great-grandchildren.

Irene Luna, 81, of Bay City passed away Saturday, March 30, 2002 in Houston.

She was born in Bay City on February 10, 1921 to parents, Antonio and Adelina Rivas Mendeola.

She is survived by: her son and daughter-in-law, Carlos and Linda Luna of Bay City, a sister, Lelia Gutierrez of Sweeny and step-grandchildren, Christine Morales and Lisa Montoya.

A rosary service was held at the Bay City Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at 7 p.m. and a funeral mass was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2002 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Bay City with the Father Edward Boren officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery.

CLUTE - Funeral services for Rickey Lunford Sr. of Clute will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2011, at True Honor Baptist Church, 713 Robertson Street, in Clute, with Pastor Anthony Bonner officiating. Burial will follow immediately after the services at Gulf Coast Cemetery Association in Clute.

Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2011 at True Honor Baptist Church. There will be viewing at the church from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2011. There will be no viewing afterward.

Alma Louise Lynch, 86, of Bay City, died May 13, 2001 in Bay City. She was born July 13, 1914, in Hewitt, Texas to the late William Henry and Julia Ann Vaughan Miller.

Mrs. Lynch was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Women's Fellowship Sunday School Class, a member of the Eastern Star, Retired Teachers Association and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.

She was a County Home Extension Agent and a fourth-grade school teacher for Bay City ISD.

Survivors include daughter, Nancy Schraub of Katy; and two grandchildren, Jessica and Michael Schraub of Katy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Thomas Lynch, brother, Guy Miller, and granddaughter, Julie Ann Schraub.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at the First United Methodist Church, with the Reverends Pauline Harvey and Tom Crowe officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery.
