Hazel Keith O'Briant

 

Hazel O'Briant, 83, of Bay City, died April 5, 2001 at Matagorda General Hospital in Bay City.

 

She was born January 29, 1918 in Bay City, Texas to the late Elbert J. and Velma Havill Keith.

 

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Markham, a resident of Bay City the past 7 years, and a former longtime resident of Markham.

 

Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Earnest and Sharon Crouch of Van Vleck; stepson, Allen O'Briant and wife Sherry of Beaumont, Texas; sisters, Juanita Kellum of League City, Esther Arriola of Texas City, Jancie Mize of Cleveland, Texas, Shirley Moffett of Cleveland, Texas and Loretta Watson of Conroe, Texas; brother, E. J. Keith of Cleveland, Texas; sister-in-law, Helen Keith of Corpus Christi, Texas; two grandchildren, Larry and Thomas Crouch; three step grandchildren; Becky, Cindy, and Tracy O'Briant.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter O'Briant, sisters, Wanda Nell Lee and Edith Williams, brothers, Wayne and Troy Keith and by grandson Michael Crouch.

 

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with the Rev. Joe Ramsey officiating. Interment will be at Hawley Cemetery. Arrangements are with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.

Bridget Louise O'Brien
(March 27, 1961 - January 11, 2011)

Bridget Louise O達rien, of Houston, formerly of Van Vleck, was born March 27, 1961 and passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2011. Bridget is survived by her mother, Mrs. James E. O達rien, Sr., siblings and their spouses: James Eagen and Guadalupe O達rien, Jr.; Molly O達rien Ganter and Garland Gather; John and Stephanie O達rien; and Matthew O達rien. Bridget leaves behind cousins, an uncle, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, James E. O達rien, Sr., an aunt, an uncle, and grandparents. Notably, Bridget will be leaving behind many friends that she made throughout her life. Bridget, who had a heart of gold, was a devoted friend to all and if you met her you knew this. She was strong, caring, independent, lighthearted, and generous. She grew up in Houston and spent weekends on Caney Creek and Sargent Beach, as a child. Eventually the family moved to Sargent where she went to school in Van Vleck, graduating in 1979. Bridget then graduated from Texas A&M University and to this day wears her Aggie ring proudly. Bridget began a successful career in business, starting with O達rien Incorporated and ending with Halliburton. Bridget mostly enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. She had a great love for exploring and being in new places. If you couldn稚 find her, she was usually in her car somewhere in the state of Texas, looking for wildflowers, bargain shopping, visiting a friend, or making her way to the Frio River. She also had a special love for animals and was never without her beloved pets. Bridgett will be missed forever and a day. There will be a Rosary at 7:00 PM Monday, January 17, 2011 with Visitation starting at 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City. A Requiem Mass and Funeral will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay City. Pallbearers will be Colleen O達rien, Nicholas O達rien, Connor O達rien, Blaine Ganter, Lauren Ganter, and James Mashburn.

Janie P. Ocanas, 72, of Markham passed away June 30, 2011. She was born March 6, 1939 in Bay City to the late Rosalio Perez & Dolores Lozano Perez.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years Joe Ocanas, Jr. of Markham; daughter Nancy Ocanas Ortiz of Markham; sisters Mary Perez of Victoria, Modesta Davalos of Markham, Marcella Perez of Bay City Faustina Alaniz of West Lake, LA, Rose Guitterrez of Bay City, Mona Ordonez of Clute, Nat Garcia of Pasadena & Helen Mirelez of Bay City; brothers Pete Perez of Markham & George Perez of Freeport and grandson Christopher Trevino, Jr. of Markham.

Daniel 泥an B. O辰onnell, 85, of Van Vleck, passed away Friday, December 18, 2009 in Bay City.

He was born March 19, 1924 in Van Vleck, Texas to Bessie Marie (Boyd) and Allan Daniel O辰onnell. He was a lifelong resident of Van Vleck and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Van Vleck. He was retired from the US Postal Service as the Post Master of Van Vleck Post Office.

He is survived by: his wife, Charlean Howard O辰onnell; by his sisters-in-law, Winnie Ruth OConnell of Van Vleck and Sylvia Boswell of Missouri City; by nephews, Donnie O辰onnell and wife Sonya, David O辰onnell, and Dan O辰onnell and wife Lanelle; by nieces Elayne Cox and husband Doyle, Linda Lamberth and husband Dennis, and Lea Ann Katallo; and by numerous great nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; by a brother, Allan Eugene O辰onnell; and his brother-in-law, Lt. Col. Marlin C. Howard.

Funeral Services was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church of Van Vleck with the Rev. Jack Hutson officiating.

Interment will follow at
Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck.

Pallbearers will be: his nephews, Donnie O辰onnell, David O辰onnell, Dan E. O辰onnell, and great nephews, Dustin O辰onnell, Donavan O辰onnell, and Pat O辰onnell.

Raymond O'Connell
(January 3, 1927 - August 15, 2007)

Raymond O辰onnell, 80, died Wednesday, August 15, 2007. He was born January 3, 1927 in Matagorda County to the late Bouldin 泥oc and Mildred Bickham O辰onnell. Ray served in the US Army during WW-II and was stationed in Germany.

On August 14, 1953 Ray married JoAnn Moore. They celebrated their 54th year of marriage on Tuesday. After returning from the war, Ray worked at the Bay City Post Office for 33 years. In 1986, he was elected Matagorda County Justice of the Peace. He was re-elected three times and served for over 12 years.

Ray was a charter member of the First United Methodist Church of Van Vleck. He was a Lifetime Member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and a member or the American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed raising cattle, riding horses, and John Wayne movies.

Ray and JoAnn have lived in Van Vleck since they married and have raised their family there. Ray is survived by his wife, his daughter and her husband, Nancy and Bill Brown; his son and his wife, Pat and Lisa O辰onnell; his daughter Eileen O Connell; his daughter and her husband Kathleen and Ken Ballinger; four grandchildren Lindsay, Kara, Christopher, and Emily; two sisters Dorothy Stafford and Nancy Bridgwater. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Burt and nephews H. A. Stafford, III and John Stafford.

The Family will receive visitors from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Friday at the Funeral Home. A Funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, August 18, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Van Vleck with Rev. Brian Krumnow officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will be Paul Bickham, Billy Bickham, Steven Whiddon, Donnie O辰onnell, David Bridgwater, Mike O辰onnell and Dan O辰onnell. William Lee 溺ax O奪ay, Jr., 47, of Bay City passed away April 23, 2010. He was born August 23, 1962 in Houston, Texas to William Lee O奪ay, Sr. and Isabel Garcia. He formerly worked at a Land Acquisitions Specialist for Petroleum Leases and the Rail Road.

Survivors include his companion Sherman Houck; mother and step-father Isabel 鏑iz & Travis Owen; sisters Mary Ellen 摘llie O奪ay and Lizabeth Ann 鏑ibby Lacy and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the Bay City Civic Center with Pat Martinez, Jr. officiating.

Tonita Learline O'Dell
(March 30, 1920 - December 15, 2010)

Tonita Learline O奪ell, 90, of Bay City passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2010. She was born in Fouke, Arkansas to the late Maude (Wroten) Carper & Wilbur Martin. She has been a resident of Bay City for the past 4 years, and was a Beautician for many years.

Tonita is survived by her 2 daughters: Tonita Gale Foster of Las Vegas and Linda Sue LeMaster of Bay City; son: Wilbur Phillip O奪ell; 3 sisters: Mary Ellen Oldham of Louisiana, Leona Hamilton of Plano, and Frances Martin of Texarkana; 2 brothers: Stanley Martin of Little Rock, and Raymond Martin of Texarkana; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband: Uel Phillip O奪ell in 1997.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Monday, December 20, 2010 at Sylverino Cemetery in Fouke, Miller County, Arkansas with Rev. Richard Posey officiating.

Glenn Wade Odom
(July 25, 1961 - December 13, 2005)

Glenn Wade 鉄kipper Odom, 44 of Houston, passed away December 13, 2005. He was born July 25, 1961 in Ganado to Robbins Paschail Odom and Marcelle Ryman Odom.

Glenn was an Instructional Specialist at Green Valley Elementary School in Galena Park I.S.D. He was a graduate from Bay City High School, Howard Payne University, and received his Masters degree in Administration from Sam Houston State University. Glenn had worked for 20 years at Green Valley School. He will be greatly missed by his fellow teachers, administrators, and especially by the students.

He is survived by his parents: Robbins Paschail & Marcelle Ryman Odom; brother: Robbin Gerald Odom & wife Betty of Wadsworth; Nieces and Nephews: Jennifer and Jeff Willard of Plano, Charlotte and Michael Allgaier of Markham, Christopher and Charlotte Norton of Bay City, Daniel and Mary Norton of Arlington, and Rebecca Odom of Wadsworth. He is also survived by his very good friend John Brassfield of Houston, TX. Glenn was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Ann Norton.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 16, 2005 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Michael Zimmerman officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City, TX. Pallbearers will be Christopher and, Daniel Norton, Kenny Ryman, Michael Allgaier, Wayne Michael, and Wayne Moore.

Mrs. Oglesby was born Sept. 22, 1922 in El Campo, Tx. to Axel Henrey Petersen and Signa Lyke Petersen. She passed away Feb. 25, 2010.

She was a lifelong resident of Palacios and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Palacios. She was also a member of the Alapha Club for 63 years and the Harmony Club for 25 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Jan Oglesby Hooker and husband Bobby of Del Rio, Tx; son Terry Oglesby and wife Jan of Palacios; sister Ruth Vlanton of Houston, Tx.; a brother Irvin Petersen of Palacios; grandchildren Tracy Perkins, Dax Oglesby and Trent Oglesby; and by seven great-grandchildren.

Ney Oldham, Jr.

Funeral services for Ney Oldham Jr., 67, of Palacios will be held at 10:30 a. m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Palacios with the Rev. John Fluth officiating. Burial will be in Hawley Cemetery, Blessing.

Mr. Oldham was born June 2, 1919, in San Marcos, Texas, and died May 28, 1987, in Palacios.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia M. Oldham of Palacios; two daughters, Lydia Schuetz and Nancy Howard, both of Palacios; a son, Ney Oldham III of Palacios; and a grandson, Leland D. Schuetz, also of Palacios.

OLDHAM, VIRGINIA NELL MOTES

Virginia Nell "Gennie" Motes Oldham, 78, of Palacios passed away at the SCCI Hospital in Victoria, on September 12, 2000 after a lengthy illness.

She was born September 14, 1921 in the small town of Blountsville, Alabama to the late Herbert and Inez Doyle Motes.

After graduating from High School in 1940, she joined the United States Navy Waves, after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

She was stationed in Washington, DC, and was a cryptologist specialist. It was during WWII that she met and later married Army First Lt. Ney Oldham, Jr. from Palacios, Texas. Their military wedding was one of the first held at the Patuxent River Naval Chapel after the war.

They came to Palacios, after their honorable military discharges in 1945, Ney and Virginia owned and operated Oldham's Dry Goods and Sporting Store. After Hurricane Carla, they built and operated The Fountain Terrace Motel.

Mrs. Oldham was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

In 1948 "Gennie" and some of her friends started the Harmonie Club to raise money to light the baseball field as well as money for other local benefits.

Survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-laws, Lydia V. and Dennis Scheutz of Palacios, Nancy Lea and Glenn Howard of Victoria; son, Ney Oldham, III of Palacios; five grandchildren Lee Schuetz, Rebecca Howard, Glenn Wesley Howard, Nolan and Ney Oldham IV; eight nieces, two nephews and 17 great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ney Oldham, Jr., infant granddaughter Ann Lydia Schuetz, sister Joan Annette Motes; and three brothers Doyle Motes, William "Sonny" Motes and Charles E. Motes.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2000, at the First United Methodist Church in Palacios with the Rev. Charlie Parker officiating. Interment will be at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Donald McAfee, Damen Williams, Richard Scott, Mark Olsovsky, Dennis Bartosh and Ted Bates. Honorary pallbearers will be Woodrow Wilson, Steve Parsutt, Bob Trull, Lowell Johnson, Billy Hamlin and George Sparks.

Azilee (Lee Wood) Oliver

Funeral services for Azilee (Lee Wood) Oliver, 73, of Bay City will be held 2 p. m. Sunday at Bay City Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. W. E. Dugger, Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Hawley Cemetery.

Mrs. Oliver was born Nov. 24, 1915, in Nacogdoches to John E. Wilburn and the former Sally Phillips and died Aug. 18, 1989, at Matagorda House in Bay City.

She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Larry and Mildred Ann Wood of Juliff, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law Louise and Daly Devillier of Thibedeaux, La., and Maureen and Larry Ware of Van Vleck; sisters Johnnie Lee Jones of Tyler and Ima Lee Gewin of Nacogdoches; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Oliver痴 grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Elva Olivo, 75, of Bay City passed away May 16, 2009. She was born Oct. 17, 1933 in Sandia, TX to the late Jose & Tomasa Chapa Aguilar.

Her husband Jesse Olivo, Sr. preceded her in death. (October 21, 1914 - May 17, 2007)

Elsie Olson, 92, formerly of Palacios passed away May 17, 2007 in Rexburg, Idaho. She was born October 21, 1914 in Jackson County, TX to Andrew and Hulda Johnson Loff. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Home Demonstration Club.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Edwin and Linda Olson of Rexburg, Idaho; fourteen grandchildren James Hebel, Gary Hebel, Jeff Hebel, Shawn Olson, Eugenia Thompson, Joe Olson, Elna Yochim, Cody Olson, Ezra Olson, Jacob Olson, Isaac Olson, Andrew Olson, Hannah Olson and Rebekah Olson; and by seventeen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Morris Olson and a daughter Martha Hebel.

BAY CITY - Bruno Olvera Sr., 75, of Bay City, passed away Friday, Feb. 5, 2010 peacefully at home. He was born in Bay City on May 24, 1934 to parents Indalesio Olvera and Andrea Robles Olvera.|

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Manuel Olvera; daughter, Beatrice Olvera; son, Raul Olvera; nephew, Indalesio Olvera.

He serviced in the U.S. Air Force. He was a retired carpenter by trade.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Blanca Munivez Olvera of Bay City; children: sons, Manuel Olvera Sr. and wife Diana of Blessing, Bruno Olvera Jr. and wife Danita of Gonzales, La., Milton Olvera and Carlos Olvera of Houston; daughters, Lupe Olvera Pettit and husband James Cochran of Houston, Lorraine Esquivel and husband Joe of Blessing, Elaine Santiago of Houston, Irene Olvera Carrillo and husband Chris, and Laura Carreon and husband Sergio of Houston; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Milton Olvera and wife Olivia of Texas City, and Indalesio Olvera and wife Alice of Dickinson; and a host of relatives and friends.

Lenora Alice Ooms, 44, of Bay City, died Tuesday in her home. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Ooms of Bay City; parents Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Cummings of Bay City; five sons, James Hargrave, Mark Connor, Michael Connor, Daniel Connor and George Wallis of Bay City; one sister, Mrs. Agnes Hickerson of Wentachee, Wash.; and one brother, Clyde Cummings, Jr., of New Orleans. Matthew Vega Ordonez, 93, was born on September 21, 1914, in San Luis Potosi, Mexico and was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 30, 2008.

He is preceded in death by: his wife, Trinidad E. Ordonez; daughter, Helen E. Ordonez; and son, Louis E. Ordonez.

He is survived by: daughters, Nicanora Ordonez, Blasa Ordonez, Janie Ordonez, Veronica Ordonez (Juan), Mary Ordonez (Moe) and Candy Littleton (Quintin); daughter-in-law, Christina Ordonez; sons, Matthew Ordonez Jr. (Amelia), Paz Ordonez (Mona), Pedro Ordonez and Tino Ordonez; by eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Juan Ordonez (Janie); and one sister, Dominga Gutierrez (Candelerio).

Matthew retired as a foreman for the City of Sweeny after 35 years of service. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy and a member of the VFW Post in Sweeny.

The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday, September 1, 2008 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Sweeny, Texas with the Rev. Ralph Roberts officiating. Modesto Oros, 65, of Bay City passed away June 7, 2009.

He was born April 10, 1944 in San Benito, Texas to Santiago Oros, Sr. and Beatriz Guiterres Oros. "Mo" was a longtime resident of Bay City. He worked as a bartender for many years and later owned and operated restaurants in Bay City.

His father and a son Johnny Oros preceded him in death.

Survivors include: his mother, Beatriz Oros; wife, Ruby Matura Oros; daughter, Annette Oros; step-sons, Gary Carter, Michael Green, David Green and LeRoy Green all of Bay City; sisters, Beatrice Flores, Gloria Cadriel, and Alice Marroquin; brothers, Santiago Oros, Jr., Gustavo Oros, Antonio Oros, Robert Oros, Armando Oros, Reynaldo Oros and Eleno Oros; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

JAMES "RODNEY" ORR SR.

EL CAMPO - James "Rodney" Orr Sr. of El Campo died March 24, 2010 at the age of 69 after a short battle with cancer. He was born in Sweeny on Feb. 4, 1941 at the home of his parents, William A. Sr. "Datty" and Devorah "Dee Dee" Redding Orr, the 9th child of 13.

He attended Sweeny High School, where he made numerous lifelong friends. Shortly after graduation, Rodney went to work at CP&L (AEP), where he enjoyed a 40-year career. After retiring, he worked as a safety rep for North Houston Pole Line. He was known as "Iron Orr" by his friends and "Papa Rodney" by his grandchildren. He played softball for many years on the legendary "Magic Caps." Rodney loved the outdoors where he enjoyed hunting in Brackettville, snowmobiling in Wyoming, jet skiing in Matagorda, and playing golf. He made many friends through the years and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dan, Edgar Ray, Neil and Billy Brian Orr; and sister, Geraldine Huebner.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Mitchell Orr of El Campo; son, James Rodney Orr Jr. and wife Sophia of Bay City; daughter, Cassandra Lynn Cohea and husband Anthony of Bay City; step-son, Chad Weishuhn and wife Cherie of Ganado; step-daughters, Tammy Zboril and husband Russell of El Campo and Jody Wied and husband Ladd of El Campo. He enjoyed his outings with his grandchildren, Justin Clark, John David Cohea, Ashley Zboril, Cheyenne Weishuhn, Reid Zboril, Riley Rodriguez, Raley Wied, and great-grandson, Zachery Clark. He is also survived by his brothers, W.A. Orr Jr. of Sweeny, Noel Orr of Sweeny, David Orr and wife Debbie of Van Vleck; sisters, Delores Braurer and husband Norm of Scott, La., Noma Laughlin of Bay City, Deanna Cundall and husband Ken of Shoshoni, Wyo., and Kitty Chase and husband Max of Molt, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin 1 p.m. today, with the family receiving friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Triska Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of El Campo with the Rev. Rick DuBroc officiating. Cremation will follow the services.

Lillie Mae Orr, 70, of Wadsworth, passed away Monday, November 7, 2005 at her residence. She was born August 10, 1935 in Bay City to Earl Ray Armstrong, Sr. and Lela Lecompte Armstrong. She was a lifelong resident of Matagorda and a member of the First Baptist Church of Matagorda.

He was a resident of Matagorda County for the past 56 years and was a retired Foreman and Operator from Matagorda County Precinct 2. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Matagorda and a US Army veteran of the Korean War era.

Aaron Gunner Ortiz, 9, of Markham passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, November 23, 2009 at his home. He was born March 29, 2000 in Bay City to Robert Ortiz and Carmen Flores Ortiz. Aaron was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. His greatest accomplishment was receiving his first communion on April 26, 2009. Aaron was a fourth grade student at Markham Elementary. He received Commended Performance for the Reading and Math TAKS tests, and was an A student. Aaron was also a Baseball player for the Tidehaven Little League. He was a very outgoing person and left a positive impression on people whether young or old.

He is survived by his mother: Carmen Flores Ortiz of Markham; father: Robert Ortiz of Corpus Christi; brother: Robert Andre C. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Frances "Chica" Martinez; and brother, John Ottino Jr.

George Peter 敵eep Ottis, Jr. 70, of West Columbia, died Friday, March 30, 2007, at his home in Columbia Lakes following a long, courageous battle with cancer.

He was born May 10, 1936, in Old Gulf to George Peter Ottis and Meda Mangum Ottis.

敵eep is survived by: his wife of 46 years, Peggy Allen Ottis; son, Chris Allen Ottis of West Columbia and daughter Letisha 典ish Ottis Berryman and husband Joel of Belton, Texas. 撤aw is also survived by his precious grandson Jaxon David Berryman.

Surviving sisters are Jean Gage and husband Jim of Lake Arthur, Louisiana, Kay Rae Milliff and husband Jerry of Wadsworth, Texas, and Lynda Kennedy and husband Jay of Bay City, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19, 2008 at Jordan Grove Miss. Bapt. Church, 2903 Anita Street in Houston, Texas.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jordan Grove Miss. Bapt. Church with the Rev. Danny Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Paradise South.

Katherine Elizabeth Overman
(December 24, 1912 - August 3, 2008)

Katherine Overman, 95, of Palacios, TX passed away Sunday, August 3, 2008. She was born December 24, 1912 in Houston, TX to the late William J. Cade and Martha S. Ringgold Cade. She was a member of the Episcopal Church, a retired medical laboratory manager, and has resided at Schicke Point since 1983.

She is survived by her husband: C. L. Overman of Palacios; her son: James Sparra of Palacios; a grandson: Hunt Sparra; and a great grandson: Hunt Jackson Sparra. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by six brothers and sisters.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, August 7, 2008 at the Palacios Cemetery in Palacios, TX. Lay Vicar Cynthia Tobola from St. John痴 Episcopal Church of Palacios will officiate the service.

Kendall Byron Owen

Kendall Byron Owen, 23, of Bay City passed away November 27, 2006. He was born November 4, 1983 in Bay City to Roy and Shirley Wells Owen.

He was preceded in death by his mother. Survivors include his wife Polly Krenek Owen of Bay City; father Roy Owen of Bay City; son Dylan Owen of Bay City; sisters Dusty Parks of El Campo, Pamela Kennedy of Bay City and Ashley Love of Bay City; brother Lawson Love of Bay City and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 2, 2006 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Lynn officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers include Jeff Green, Joey Kennedy, Jimmy Mc Donald, Henry Barron, Jeff Sellers, and John Deavers. Lawson Love and Donovan Hahn will serve as honorary pallbearers. Feb. 1, 1938 April 14, 2007

Leo 鉄kipper Owen, 69, of Van Vleck passed away April 14, 2007.

He was born February 1, 1938 in Bell Bottom, TX to the late W. H. and Birdie Leggett Owen. He was known as 撤oppa to a host of children.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Joann Bock Owen and a grandson William Paul Tweedle.

Survivors include: four daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Ricky Hahn of Waller, Texas, Susan and Kenny Love of LaWard, Texas, Jo Beth and William Tweedle of Moulton, Texas and Pam and Joey Kennedy of Sargent, Texas; sister, Wanda Walker of Bay City; brothers, Roy Owen of Bay City and Carl Owen of Tyler, Texas; ten grandchildren Alan Sellers, Trey Hahn, Joshua Tweedle, Jared Tweedle, Hunter Kennedy, Michelle McDonald, Candice Love, Wendy Tweedle, Marissa Tweedle and Morgan Kennedy and seven great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at
Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck with the Rev. Jim Hardaway officiating.

Pallbearers will be Alan Sellers, Trey Hahn, Roy Chase, Robert Maynes, Joey Kennedy and Donovan Hahn.

Myrtle A. Prukop Owen
(October 20, 1915 - October 29, 2009)

Myrtle A. Prukop Owen, 94, of Bay City, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2009, in Houston at the home of her daughter, Betty. She was born October 20, 1915 in Inez, Texas to the late Ben Henry Prukop and Alvie Obsta Prukop. Myrtle was a long time resident of Bay City, before moving to Hemphill in 1994 to live with her daughter, Virginia. Since 1994 she has been splitting her time between Houston and Hemphill. Myrtle was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Van Vleck.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harvey Owen, son Donald Owen, granddaughter Kathy Smith Frazier, 3 great grandchildren Wendy Smith, Rodney Frazier, and, Malcum Ray Owen, brother Louis Prukop, sister Catherine L. Schumacher. Myrtle is survived by her 2 daughters: Betty Owen Grammer & husband James of Houston and Virginia Owen Smith & husband Glyn of Hemphill; son: Bennie Owen & wife Shirley of Bay City; brother: John J. Prukop & wife Ruby of Victoria; 10 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren scattered all over.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will be: James Grammer, Greg Owen, Christopher Owen, Stephen Scott, Gary Scott, James Prukop, Samuel Quarles, Roy Owen, Carl Owen, Robert Obsta, Rodney Griner, and Christopher Sabrasula

Vernon Leslie Owsley, 82, joined the Lord on Saturday, August 29, 2009.

Mr. Owsley served in the U. S. Army and was a 32nd Degree Mason for more than 50 years. He retired from Phillips Refinery in Old
Ocean after 30+ years as an electrician.

He is survived by: his daughter, Darlene Stezenback and husband, Mark; three grandsons, Jason, Jonathan and Nathan Browne and wife, Robin; cousin, Douglas Scroggins; and many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty.

Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m.
, Thursday, September 3, 2009, at Roselawn Cemetery in Van Vleck with the Pastor Omar Cantu officiating. There will be a fellowship immediately following the graveside at First Baptist Church of Old Ocean.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in his honor to the First Baptist Church of Old Ocean Building Fund or a charity of choice.
