Mary "Mamie" Geneva Kerr Pardue

Funeral services will be held for Mary "Mamie" Geneva Kerr Pardue, 94, of Bay City on Sunday, March 25, 2001 at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Bay City. Officiating will be the Rev. Pauline Harvey. Gravesdie services will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Van Vleck.

Mamie went to be with the Lord peacefully on March 22, 2001, with her only child, Beverly Jones, at her side. She passed away in her home after a breif illness. Mamie was born in Walker, La., on December 3, 1906. She is preceded in death by her husband William Heard Pardue, her father Andrew Jackson, and her mother Francis Nichols Watson Kerr.

She is survived by: daughter, Beverly Jean Jones and her husband Max; four grandchildren and their spouses, Don and Sandi Jones, Mary Jean and Raymond Cunnimgham, Philip and Hollie Jones, and William David and Dianna Jones: and ten great grandchildren, Shelly, Bobby, Gary, Matt, Mason, Kip, Curtis, Cami, David, and Lance.

Pallbearers will be Don Jones, Bobby Jones, Gary Jones, Raymond Cunnimgham, Kip Cunningham, Philip Jones, and William David Jones.

Mrs. Pardue faithfully attended First United Methodist Church of Bay City for over 50 years, and was a member of the United Methodist Women's Society. She served as a Pink Lady at Matagorda General Hospital. Mamie was a dear and faithful friend to all who knew and loved her. She will be dearly missed but for those whose hope is in Christ Jesus, our Savior, Mamie waits for us in Glory. For the just shall live by faith.

Joyce Elaine Parker, 76, of Hot Springs Village, Ark. died August 28, 2001 at St. Joseph Hospital in Hot Springs, Ark. She was born Aug. 12, 1925 in Houston, TX. to the late Robert Henry "Captain Bob" and Bertha Lillian Kintz Parker, Sr. She had been a resident of Arkansas the past 12 years and was a former resident of West Columbia and Bay City.

Survivors include: sister and brother-in-law, Lillian and John Underwood of Bay City; brother and sister-in-law, R. H. Jr. and Mary Parker of Cypress, TX.; adopted sister, Jerry Poe of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; niece, Robin Parker-Flowers, DVM and her husband Kenneth of Navasoto, TX; nephews, Christopher Paul Parker of Cypress, TX., John L. Underwood, Jr. and wife Nikole of Cypress Park, TX., R. H. "Tripp"Parker, III and wife Lee of San Antonio; and several gerat nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2001 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Cannon presiding. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck. Arrangements with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. A00011A2001AG30

Donna O. Patrick, 53, of Sargent died October 23, 2002 at her residence. She was born April 30, 1947 in Weslaco, TX to Donald J. and Ruby Ola Lackey Harrison.

She was a member of the Baptist Church and a resident of Sargent since 1981.

Survivors include: husband, Frank Lou Patrick of Sargent; daughter, Tiffany Denise Leca of San Diego, CA; sons and daughters-in-law, Keith Allen and Michelle Ferrel and Scotty Wayne and Dawn Hughlett all of Navasota, Troy Lynn and Maria Hughlett of Houston, and Timothy Dwayne Leca of San Antonio; mother, Ruby Harrison of Conroe, TX; sisters, Charlotte Loper of Sargent, Kay Wilkins of Bay City, and Sherry Donovan of Conroe; brother, Eddie Lackey of Houston; and 11 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and brother Donald Harrison.

Funeral service was 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with the Rev.Danny McDowell officiating. Interment followed at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck.

Pallbearers were Richard Knight, Tim Joiner, Greg Hatfield, Shane Smith, Nick Mosley, and Jimmy McBride.

Maudie Jenkins Peveto, 77, of Sweeny died February 11, 2002 at the Sweeny House Nursing Home. She was born June 22, 1924 in Glen Flora, Texas to the late Ed Calvin and Leva Ann Cromeans Morris. Mrs. Peveto was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a former longtime resident of Markham and Bay City.

Survivors include: husband, O. N. "Pete" Peveto of Sweeny; two daughters and a son-in-law: Gaynell and Billy Rodgers of South Houston and Dorothy Keiborz of Beaumont; son and daughter-in-law, Calvin E. and Sandra Jenkins of Bay City; sister, Lillie Karl of Sweeny; nine grandchildren, Bridget Barnes and husband Bubba of LaPorte, Clifton Jenkins, Douglas Jenkins and wife Karen all of Bay City; Billy Rodgers and wife Sheri of Highlands, Texas, Patricia Domiano and husband Frank, Jimmy Kieberz, Jr., Michelle Keiborz, and Christy Sullivan and husband Bobby all of Beaumont, and DeAnna Keiborz of Kansas; and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Millerd Jenkins.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, February 14, 2002, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack McMahon officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers will be Douglas and Clifton Jenkins, Billy Rodgers, Jr., Jimmy Keiborz, Jr., Michael Karl and Bubba Barnes.

Vera Lillian Riddle Pharis

Vera Lillian Riddle Pharis, 81, of Bedias, Texas, died Tuesday, October 5, 2004.

Vera Pharis was born February 13, 1923 in Muldrow, Oklahoma, to parents John Wesley Riddle and Ella Jean Doyle Riddle, whom precede her in death.

Her husband, T. M. Pharis of Bay City, Texas, along with three sisters and six brothers also preceded in death.

Vera Pharis was retired from the Sears and Roebuck Company, a member of the Bedias Baptist Church, charter member of the Bedias Garden Club, member of the Bedias Womens Club, and the Happy Dots Domino Club.

She is survived by: two daughters and sons-in-law, Janean and John Anderson Sr., of Bedias, Texas, and Beverlee and Les Scott of Concord, North Carolina; three grandchildren, John Anderson Jr., of Bedias, Texas, Pam VanKooten of Pasadena, Texas, and Caroline Anderson of South Houston, Texas; six great-grandchildren, John Odale Anderson, Misty Brook Bowers, Robert Bowers Jr., Jenni Maneely, Preston Hughs and Devin Anderson; one great-great-grandchild, Kaylyn Maneely; and one sister, Velma King of Kansas.

Visitation hours were Thursday, October 7, 2004, from 2 until 8 p.m., with the family present from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Southern Heritage Funeral Home of Bedias.

Funeral services were held Friday, October 8, 2004, with the first service at 10 a.m. at the Southern Heritage Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Jerald Brown of the Bedias Baptist Church officiating.

A 4 p.m. graveside service was to follow at the Roselawn [Memorial Park] Cemetery in Van Vleck, with the Rev. Chester Sassman of the Calvary Baptist Church of Bay City officiating.

Southern Heritage Funeral Home of Bedias was in charge of arrangements.

Services will be held for Julia Austin Posey, 82, of Houston and former active resident of Bay City, 10:00 AM Wednesday, at the Christ Episcopal Cathedral Church, 1117 Texas Avenue. Officiating at the services will be the Revs. J. Pittman McGehee, Dean, Canon Murray Powell, Canon John Logan and Jeffrey Walker.

 

Posey died March 28, 1983. Survivors include daughter, Mrs. Robert E. Insall of Houston; grandchildren, William L. Knight, Donald R. Knight, Jr., Amy Austin Insall, and Charles Stewart Clark.

 

Posey was very active in the Bay City community and her church. In Houston she was a member of the Christ Episcopal Cathedral Church, Chi Omega Mothers Club, and the Houston Club.

 

Burial will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Pallbearers include William S. Hudson, Dr. Dale Halter, Dr. Robert Parker, Royson Patterson, Robert Singleton, and Norman Lynd. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the organ fund at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Bay City or the Christ Church Endowment Fund, 1117 Texas Avenue, Houston, 77002. Arrangements with George H. Lewis and Sons, 1010 Bering Drive at Sugar Hill, 789-3005.
