Bertha Etta Wakefield

Bertha Etta Wakefield, 81, of Glasgow, KY., died September 25, 2000 at the Village Manner Christian Healthcare Center in Boling Green, Ky. She was born November 3, 1918 in Metcalf Co., KY to the late James Fisher and Bertha Cockrum Pitcock. Mrs. Wakefield was a member of the Church of Christ and a former longtime resident of Palacios.

Survivors include sisters, Dorothy Davis and her husband Paul of Glasgow, Ky. and Myrtle Ennis of Edmonton, Ky; brother-in-law, Bob Wakefield and his wife Dorothy of Bay City; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Milan Wakefield, October 16, 1995; two sisters, Mary Fang and Elva Buettner and by four brothers, Orrin, George, James and Thompson Pitcock.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2000 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City with the Bro. Shane Jackson. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Van Vleck, Texas. Pallbearers will be her nephews Mike, Mark, Scott and Glen Wakefield.

Robert Fitzgerald Willis

Robert Fitzgerald Willis, 54, beloved husband, father, brother and friend passed away on Sept. 9, 2003.

Robert was a constant, charismatic man who will live on in the hearts and minds of numerous friends and family members through the extraordinary memories that he left. Robert was born Oct. 1, 1948, in Bay City, Texas, to Claude and Ila Willis. Those who mourn his passing include his beloved wife, Gabriela Villegas; three children, Marina Jewel, Claudia Chowning, and Patrick Manuel; his sister, Dorothy Harp of Conroe; his brother, C.C. and wife, Camella of Casa Grande, Ariz.; nephews, Allen and wife, Jan, Mike and wife, Beth, and Mark and wife, Terri; and nieces, Heather and husband, Shephen Church, Shelly and husband, Todd Lennon, Katy and husband, Joe Drucker and Wendy Willis. He will also be missed deeply by the Villegas family of Mexico City. Robert was a graduate of Bay City High School and Texas Tech, where he was a member of Delta Tau Delta. He served in the Peace Corps. in Columbia and was active in the organization for many years. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 12, in the chapel at A.D. Bruce Religion Center, University of Houston, Entrance 13A off Cullen Blvd. (closest parking lots are 9C and 15F), 713-743-5051.
