Funeral services for Russell Mack, 67, of Texas City, will be held 11 a. m. Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church in Cedar Lane with the Rev. C. W. Floyd officiating. Burial will be at Shiloh Cemetery in Cedar Lane. Visitation will be until 9 p. m. today at the Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel and 10 to 11 a. m. Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church.
He was a member of the Baptist church. He was a World War II veteran of the U. S. Army and the founder of the Sunset Florist and Charity Fund of Texas City.
Survivors include a daughter, Gladys Marie Law of Cedar Lane; a son, Charles Mack of Houston; his mother, Rachel Austin of Cedar Lane; five sisters, Leola Fields of Cedar Lane, Ruby Dale and Emma Dale of Bay City, Laverne Taylor of Houston and Sophie Mae Franklin of Cedar Lake; two brothers, Jack Austin of Freeport and Cornelious Austin of Philadelphia, Pa.; four aunts, Annie Mae Matthews and Jessie Mae Parks of Bay City, Margaret Austin of Cedar Lane and Lucinda Grice of Angleton; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Mr. Mack’s nephews, Wilbert Dale, William Dale, Russell Dale, Lewis Dale III, Emerson Dale and Billy Dale Jr. Honorary pallbearers are his great-nephews, Dorland Fields, Troy Harris, Hubert Brown III, Ira Edison Jr., Ivan Pettit and Reginald Griggs.

Funeral services for Eliza Roberson Merchant, 76, of Alvin, are scheduled for noon Thursday at Shiloh Baptist Church in Cedar Lane with the Rev. E. W. Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery in Cedar Lane.
Visitation will be until 5 p. m. today at Duncan-Roberts Funeral Home chapel.
A wake will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p. m. today at New Life Baptist Church in Alvin.
Mrs. Merchant was born Feb. 12, 1918, in Bay City to Rev. Carlyle and Harriett Henderson Roberson Sr. and died June 19, 1994, in Alvin Community Baptist Hospital in Alvin.
A resident of the Alvin community and a retired employee of the Alvin Independent School District. She was a member of the Baptist church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Magdalene Barnes of Alvin; a son-in-law, Thomas Barnes of Alvin; three brothers Lee A. Roberson Sr. of Bay City, Thomas Roberson Sr. of Bay City and Rev. Carlyle Roberson Jr. of Alvin; a sister-in-law, Martha J. Roberson of Alvin; a brother-in-law, Claudia Merchant of Galveston; eight grandchildren, Thomas, Roy Lester, Steven, Nelson, Subrina, Gregory, Troy and Seneria Barnes; five great-grandchildren, Roy Lester Barnes II, Curtis Bolton, Ayles Barnes, Christina Barnes, Steve Keith Barnes and Ashley Barnes and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers are Calvin D. Roberson, Charles Roberson, Horace Roberson, Steve Barnes, Earl Williams and Charles Ray Olson.

Doris Tone born Friday, July 13, 1928 was the fourth child born to Eddie and Leatha Mills Tone. Doris grew up and attended public school in the communities of Wadsworth and Cedar Lane. In 1948, she graduated from O. H. Herman High School in Van Vleck, Texas. Shortly thereafter she entered nursing school in Jacksonville, Florida. She would eventually return home where she met and married Elroy Miller. She continued to pursue her studies to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse at Wharton County Junior College. Upon completion and receiving her Associates Degree in Nursing. Doris would go on to obtain employment with the former Matagorda General Hospital for thirty-five years. During this time Doris accepted Christ and united with the Mother Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. L. R. James and subsequently united with Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. L. V. Harvey where she served faithfully until her health declined.
Doris enjoyed the love of her family. She has touched the lives and hearts of many and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Charlie; sister, Ethel Mae, niece, Mary Ann and brother, Edward.
Doris leaves to cherish her memories: a loving sister, Veola Tone of Bay City; one sister-in-law, Edna Tone; five nieces, Eddie Jean Turner, Hazel "Sue" Thomas of Hitchcock, Texas, Charlene Godley (Marcellous), Elizabeth Meurer (James) of Bay City, Texas, and Patricia James of Cedar Lane, Texas; Godchild, Erica Turner of Hitchcock, Texas; stepdaughter, Eddie Marie Ellis of Bay City, Texas; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Elnora “Betty” Moore; two daughters, and sons-in-law, Theresa and Terry Wiley and Ethel and Cleophus Brown Jr. of Bay City; one adopted daughter, ReShanda Moore of Bay City; four sons and daughters-in-law, Cunnie Jr. and Debra Moore, William Curtis and Lametra Moore, Elliott James and Marcietta Moore, all of Bay City and Larry Darnell and Vanessa Moore of Richwood and one foster son, Edwin Knowles. He is also survived by four sisters, Luvenia Sorrell of Cedar Lane, Irene Henderson of Houston, Annie Lou Moore and Ellener Woodard of Cedar Lane; three brothers, Percy Moore and Lawrence Moore of Bay City and Leon Moore of Cleveland; one aunt, Annie Mae Cooper of Wharton and two uncles, A. C. Cooper and R. S. Cooper of Wharton; one favorite aunt-in-law, Willie Mae Bright; niece and caretaker, Ozell Crockett; 12 grandchildren, Crystal Hill, Alexis Moore, Abby Wiley, Amber Moore, Ashley Wiley, Anjelica Moore, Sade Moore, LaCursha Moore, Curnesha More, Mellody Moore, Terry Wiley Jr. and Marcos Brown and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and a family of friends.

Mr. Moore was born in Cedar Lane Sunday, July 12, 1942 to Ben Moore, Sr. and Lou Ethel Cooper-Moore. He died Saturday, March 20 at Hermann Hospital in Houston. Mr. Moore owned and operated a truck driving business in the Houston area and was admired by those who knew him.
Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, Eulah Alexander Moore; daughter and son-in-law, Radina Stein (and Kyth); grandson, Sterling Stein all of Shepherd; son, Rayford Baker of Houston; godson, Jeremy Amboree of Lake Jackson; sisters, Luvenia Sorrell of Bay City; Annie Lou Moore of Cedar Lane; Ellener Woodard of Freeport, and Irene Henderson (and Raymond) of Houston; brothers, Lawrence Moore, Sr. (and Mary), and Percy Moore, Sr. (and Mattie) all of Bay City; in-laws, Dan Alexander (and Earnestine), Pauline Diggs, Shirley Potter (and Isaac), Berline Ware (and John), Levinda Lavan (and Paul), and Estella Baltrip (and Joe) all of Houston, and Hazel Wooten of Lindale, Tex.; also a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a family of friends.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Eddie and Ella Grice; brothers, Jimmie Grice, Clyde Grice and Eddie Grice; and nephew, Keith Grice.
She is survived by: her loving daughter, Brenda Ratliff (Climmie), Brazoria; loving companion, Wayne O’Neil, Brazoria; sisters, Lovie Baugh (Eddie), Sweeny and Hattie Thymes, Bay City; grandchildren, Ira Donald Smith, Jr., Sweeny and Brittany Michelle Monroe (Gregory), Lake Jackson; great grandchildren, Emmanuel Smith and Sanaa Jordan Smith; special friends, Gertie C.
