Letter from the mother of Maria Deinhard Pfeiffer and Barbara Deinhard Kellermeier to the family of their brother Johann.

NEUMARKT, JUNE 30, 1869,

DEAR SON,-

I RECEIVED YOUR LETTER OF MAY 9TH, FROM WHICH I LEARNED THAT YOU HAD MADE UP A POWER OF ATTORNEY BY A NOTARY.  I WAITED IN VAIN UNTIL TODAY, INQUIRED AT THE LOCAL COURT AND THE DISTRICT COURT, THE GUARDIAN APPEARED BEFORE THE ROYAL PROVINCIAL COURT AT KASTEL AND NOWHERE WAS FOUND THE POWER OF ATTORNEY WHICH YOU WERE TO HAVE SENT.

THE INNKEEPER SHALL AND MUST DEPOSIT THE MONEY, THE JUDGE IN KASTEL SAID THAT AS LONG AS THERE WAS NO POWER OF ATTORNEY THE MONEY WAS TO BE PLACED IN MORTGAGE; TRY TO SEND THE POWER AS SOON AS POSSIBLE OTHERWISE I CANNOT SEND THE MONEY BY MY CHECK.

THE PHOTOGRAPH  OF YOUR DEAR WIFE AND DEAR GRANDDAUGHTER MARIA MARGARETA ((BORN MAY 16, 1868, AUSTIN, “MOLLY”))HAS PLEASED ME GREATLY AND I LOOK AT IT EVERY DAY AND I INCLUDE ALL THREE OF YOU IN MY DAILY PRAYER SO THAT GOD WILL KEEP YOU ALWAYS HEALTHY, CONTENTED AND BLEST IN YOUR FAMILY LIFE.

I AM GLAD THAT YOU ARE WELL AND CHEERFUL.  [WHAT](WHICH) IS THE CASE WITH ME ALSO, THANKS THE LORD.

WHEN YOU WRITE ME AGAIN LET ME KNOW HOW THE BROTHERS-IN-LAW ARE; IF THEY ARE ALIVE AND IN GOOD HEALTH AND HAPPY.  I CAN'T SATISFY YOU IN REGARD TO MY PHOTO [WHILE](SINCE) AT THIS TIME THERE IS NO PHOTOGRAPHER HERE;  THE LOCAL MAN DIED IN THE FIRST DAYS OF MAY.  ANOTHER ONE WILL SOON COME FROM NURNBERG AND IS GOING TO MARY THE WIDOW.

THE RAILROAD FROM REGENSBURG [OVER](THRU) NEUMARKT AND NURNBERG HAS NOW BEEN LAID OUT.  IT GOES FROM REGENSBURG [OVER](THRU) LAABER PAST HEINAU, NOT OUR LAABER, THEN [OVER](THRU) PAESBERG, DEINING, ALFALTERBACH, LABERMICHLE, SENGENTHAL, FROM SENGENTHAL THRU THE WIESEHOLZ[, AND](VIA) THE DRILL-GROUND, THEN [OVER](THRU) THE SO-CALLED ARMY-REVIEW PLACE, THRU THE HOLZGARTEN.  IN THE HOLZGARTEN COMES THE DEPOT AND THE OTHER BUILDINGS.  FROM THE DEPOT GOES THE ROAD OVER THE FREISTADTEN STREET TOWARDS WAFFENBACH TO THE LEFT AND POELLING TO THE RIGHT WHERE A SMALL CUT HAS TO BE MADE.  FROM HENG IT GOES THRU THE...???.... CAUMER WOOD, THEN TO THE NURENBERGER SURGE WOOD TO NURNBERG.  WITHIN 2 YEARS THE WHOLE ROAD MUST BE READY.  HOWEVER IN A YEAR WE WILL BE ABLE TO TRAVEL TO NURNBERG.  I BELIEVE THAT YOU WILL BE PLEASED WITH THIS NEWS.

MY CORDIAL GREETINGS TO YOUR DEAR WIFE AND DAUGHTER EVEN IF I HAVE NEVER MET THEM, AND TRY TO SEND ME THE POWER OF ATTORNEY SOON.

YOUR GREETINGS WHICH YOU HAVE REQUESTED ME TO MAKE WILL BE POSITIVELY DELIVERED AND MOST OF THEM HAVE ALREADY BEEN GIVEN.

YOUR SINCERE MOTHER-IN-LAW AND GRANDMOTHER

MARGARETHA DEINHARD
