The
Pottery Industry at McDade, Bastrop
County, Texas By Audrey Rother |
| There
were several pottery sites in and around McDade, for
that we can give credit to two factors; 1. The right
kind of clay for which McDade had an abundance supply
and 2. A man named Matthew Dunkin, the patriarch of
McDade potters. Matthew
taught his sons, son-in-laws, grandsons and no doubt
others the art of making pottery, as a result of his
influence, we have the following potteries in our
area. |
