MRS. CORA HODGE PASSES
Cora Amanda Mobley was born December 14, 1879, at Paige, Texas, and died
June 12, 1946, at Bastrop, Texas. She was converted at the age of
fifteen years and became a member of the Baptist Church. She was
married to Elmo
Hodge on November 16, 1905. To this union two children, a son,
Horace, and a daughter, Fayth, were born.
Mrs. Hodge made her home in McDade for a number of years until she
moved with her daughter's family to Bastrop in the fall of 1941.
She was a good neighbor, and was held in high esteem by all who knew
her. She had been in failing health for several months, but her
condition grew grave some five weeks ago and she was confined to her bed
after that time. The loving care of her family and friends could
not keep back the grim reaper, and the end came at 4:30 on the afternoon
of June 12.
A short service was held at the residence in Bastrop at ten o'clock on
the morning of June 14. The body was carried to the McDade Baptist
Church were funeral services were conducted by Rev. T. E. Holt of McDade
and Rev. John T. Allen of Bastrop. Burial was in the family plot
in the McDade Cemetery. [corner torn from article].
Honorary pallbearers were all nephews and nephews-in-law. Funeral
arrangements were in charge of Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home of
Giddings, Texas.
Mrs. Hodge is survived by her son, Horace
Hodge of Elgin and daughter, Mrs. T. J. Branton, of Bastrop, and
five grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. T. M.
Fariss of Burnet, and four brothers, R. A. and J. M. Mobley of Marble
Falls, G. R. Mobley of Giddings, and W. F. Mobley of Red Rock The
