W.H. FRENCH

W.H. FRENCH PASSES AWAY.

Passed away at his lovely and picturesque home Wednesday night, W. H. French, familiarly known as “Bill” French, a pioneer citizen of Bastrop County, passing out in his 80th year.  His body was laid to rest in the Bachman “burying ground” near his home, there to rest under the shades of the cedars to mix and mingle with the dust of his beloved old father and mother, preceding him in death a number of years.  “Bill” never married, preferring to live alone.  He lived and died as near to nature as it were possible to live.  He had his weaknesses, so have I, and so have you, dear readers.  With all of his (peculiarities ?), he possessed two noble and commendable characteristics, truth and honesty, a rarity now days.  He has gone the way of all the earth.  God Bless the “dirt” that wraps his clay.  He leaves surviving, three brothers, Ben French of Cedar Creek, Amos French of McDade, and Sam French of near Corpus Christi.

---Newspaper source- undated

added note:  Bachman Cemetery Is located on Oscar Dube Jr. Land some 3 miles N. of McDade, Texas.

Mrs. Lucy French said before she died that the parents of “Bill French” were Jesse & Mary French.

She also said “Bill” was the last buried in Bachman  Cemetery.
