The Forbes boys were gamblers in McDade during the troubling
times. They were the son of Jesse and Mary Forbes who moved to
the Knobbs area from North Carolina in about 1860. Both Jesse
and Mary are buried in the Lower Knobbs Cemetery |

One of their daughters, Fannie, married William Lafayette
Tyler, son of Anderson Tyler and Eliza (Mitchell) Tyler.
Anderson and William (Bill) are mentioned in the article on the
McDade web site relating to the Knobbs area early settlers.Fannie
Forbes first married William Nathan Stephens 22 Feb 1878 in Lee
County and they had one child (William Otis Stephens born 1879,
moved to Oklahoma where he married Ella Wells and had a number of
children. They are both buried in Davis, Oklahoma.
Following William Stephens' death she married William L. Tyler. |

John Forbes was "invited" to leave the area by the
vigilantes and he moved to the Bisbee Arizona area (south of
Tombstone) and that is the last information available. John's
brother Dave was also a gambler but do not know what became of him. |
