The following events are for the Cameron and surrounding area by KMIL - 105.1 FM The Ranch, and local Chamber of Commerce:

Weekly & Monthly Events:
  • Farmer's Market will be held on Tuesdays at the Busy Bea parking lot from 9AM-1PM. Any local growers invited to participate on Tuesdays. Call Becky for more information, please call 446-7774 or 760-0074.
  • Every first & third Tuesday of each month, Blessings from GOD food Pantry will distribute food to citizens.
    • The first Tuesday hours are: 6PM to 8PM
    • The third Tuesday hours are:  8AM to 10AM
  • Every first & third Tuesday of each month, Standards of Care will be at Bea's Kitchen located at 101 East Main Street, at 10:30AM for free blood sugar & blood pressure checks.
  • Every Wednesday of each month, join the Cameron Library for Books to Grown on Story Time at 10:30AM.
  • Every first & third Friday of each month, the Cameron VFW Post 2010 will have Karaoke.
  • Every first & third Saturday, the Milano Playboys play free music at the Senior Citizens Center in Christman (located between Milano & Caldwell).
  • Every Thursday and and third Saturday, Jimmie Maze and the Milano Playboys perform at the Christmann Community Center from 7-9PM.
  • Every Friday & Saturday, of the month the Farmers Market will be located at 2103 North Travis in Cameron from 7AM to Noon.
  • Every last Saturday of the month, the Milano Jamboree will be held at the Milano Senior Citizens Center at 7PM.

July 2015

July 3
The Rockdale Chamber will be hosting a 4th of July Celebration at Fair Park.  Set up for events will be at 4PM with games running from 5-9PM and fireworks display at 9PM.  Game wristbands are $5 and music and concessions will also be available.

July 4
  • The Cameron VFW Post 2010 will have a dance and BBQ Benefit - tickets are $12.  The BBQ plates will include brisket, sausage, potato salad and beans; serving time begins at 6PM.  Crossroads Band will perform from 8-Midnight.  All proceeds go towards bringing the Memorial Wall to Cameron in September.  Please contact Melissa Dulin (254) 295-6222 or Tom Wiley (254) 267-0179 for more information.
  • The All-Saints Episcopal Church will host a community wide picnic in the Church garden.  The picnic will include hot dogs, lemonade and live music provided by the Church.  Guests can bring other dishes to share with everyone.  The community wide picnic will be from 5-8PM.

July 11
The Benefit for Eva Alvarado will take place at the Cameron VFW to help with medical expenses for Eva's battle with cancer.  Plate lunches will be $10 each with brisket, sausage, rice, beans and potato salad.  Lunch will start at 2PM and a silent auction (bake sale & raffle) will be from 3-8PM.  A dance will also take place from 8:30-12:30AM and the cost is $10.  For more information please call (254) 482-1110 or (254) 482-0042.

July 12
The Knights of Columbus in Westphalia will host a blood drive from 8:30AM to 1PM.  The Knights of Columbus will also have a sausage and pancake breakfast, starting at 8:30AM.  The Knights of Columbus in Westphalia is located at the Parish Hall on Hwy 320.  Blood does not need to be given to attend the sausage and pancake breakfast.  To sign up for both the blood drive and breakfast, please go to the entrance of the Church of Visitation in Westphalia.  For more information, please contact Kenneth Jezisek (254) 931-0120.

July 17th
The KC Council #12601 will have its 14th Annual Gun Raffle at the Simon-George Hall in Cameron.  Tickets are $20 and will include a stew dinner and drinks; adult beverages are included.  Doors will open at 6PM and min-raffles will be held throughout the evening for a deer feeder and taxidermy work.  Contact any KC Council member for tickets.

July 17-18th
The Annual Showdown for Scholarships Texas Hold'em Tournament and Golf Tournament sponsored by the Cameron Rotary Club will take place at the Cameron Country Club.  Friday night at 6PM, the event kicks off with a catered dinner by Circle S Bar-B-Que followed by the Texas Hold'em Tournament at 7PM; the required entry buy in is $100 with re-buys available.  The top three chip holders will have a chance to win prizes at the end of the tournament.  At 8AM on Saturday the 18th, the Golf Tournament will kick off with entry fee of $65 and one can form their own 4-man teams.  If one does not have a team, they will be assigned one at sign up.  Lunch and drinks will be included at the Golf Tournament.  A Hole Sponsorship will give free entry into the Golf Tournament.  Raffle tickets can be bought for $10 from any Rotary member.  The top prize will be $1,000 Visa Gift Card and does not need to be present to win.  All proceeds from both tournaments will go towards local scholarships and community projects.

July 18th
The City of Cameron will have a brush and tree limb drop off from 9AM to 5PM.  This is open to Cameron residents only and a water bill will be needed to prove residency requirement.  The drop off will be at the Animal Shelter on E.Gillis Street and signs will be posted to direct to the correct gate - if it is raining the drop off will be located at the City Yard at 701 E. Main Street.

July 25th
The Cameron VFW Post 2010 will have a Fish Fry Benefit from 4-7PM for $10 a plate.  The plates will include catfish, fries, hush puppies and cole slaw.  Plates are for either dine in or take out.  Tickets can be bought from any Post member.
