Do you have anything on James Monroe PARKS? He lived in and around Regency on the Mills County side and Locker on the San Saba County side of the Colorado, ca 1875-1895. He died in 1895 and is buried in Richland Springs. One of my sources claims that he was one of the main movers and shakers in the formation of Mills County. I have been unable to confirm this.

My gggrandfather David Morris came to what is now Mills County in 1852.
His wife's name was Rachel Cook Morris and their children were Andrew, John, Rebecca (Langford) William and David.
William and David married Pollyann and Alice Evans in a double ceremony in 1873. My grandfather, Henry Morris was born to this union.
My Father, Howard David Morris, took us to Goldthwaite each summer and I have many memories there. I know that their must be many Morris' that must be related to me down there.
There are seven of us cousins that plan on a reunion next Sept in Goldthwaite. I am working of my genealogy and really need help. If you can send me names that I might contact, I sure would appreciate it. I spoke with my Uncle, Bob Johnson yesterday. I have the three books about Mills County that were published. Thank you for your help. Alice Sue

I am looking for anything on my grandfather!! My father grew up with his mother (Viola HEAD) and step-father in Goldwaite,TX. My dad, before he died, told me all that knew about his actual father.
I got a copy of my grandparent's marriage certificate and a newspaper obituary article. My grandfather went by 'Ben CHAPPELL' but shows up as 'A. Benjamin CHAPPELL', and 'Alfred Benjamin CHAPPELL' on the marriage certificate and in my grandmother's obituary.
The CHAPPELL family doesn't show up in the 1920 Mills County, TX census but my grandmother shows up living with parents (age 24) in the 1910 Mills County, TX census.
Ben CHAPPELL married my grandmother (Viola Jane HEAD) in Mills County, TX on 22 August 1915.
My father also thought that Ben was from Arkansas and was related to an Irk Black in Mills County, TX (I found him in 1920 census).
OTHER CHAPPELL FAMILIES IN MILLS COUNTY, TX:
I found 3 CHAPPELL families in same area in the 1910 census but none had a Ben or Alfred or A.B. CHAPPELL with them.
However, they all were born in Arkansas (Interesting!). They were:
Martin CHAPPELL, age 49 (father born in Arkansas)
Thomas CHAPPELL, age 35 (father born in Arkansas)
Clabe CHAPPELL, age 70 (father born in Tennessee) (Clabe is Thomas's father)
Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

I am looking for information on the Hanna family who settled in a place my family has always referred to as "Hanna Valley" somewhere on the Colorado River. The Hanna's are mentioned as one of 6 of the original settlers of Brown County, but that could have been what is now Mills county considering the changes in the county lines. I believe they settled there in the 1850's. I am also interested in pin-pointing the actual location of "Hanna Valley". As a child, I visited this location and found a lot of ancestoral names on tombstones there.
I also had two elderly Aunts who lived in Goldtwaite when I was a child. Their names were Leitha and Kate, and I believe they were my great/great aunts on my father's side.
More recent history: My greatgrandparents were Robert and Cora Hanna who lived in Brownwood in the 1950s through the 1970's, where I was raised. I cannot find any record of their parent's names, or make the connection to those early settlers. My grandfather was Howard Hanna of Brownwood. He owned the Texas Cafe there in the 1950's and later he operated "Hanna's Stone Ground Corn Mill" in the 60's and early '70's. His wife's name at that time was Lorraine. My parents were Rev. Hollis Howard Hanna and Anna Lee Vest. Mom still resides at Lake Brownwood, and is Mrs. Ed Thompson now.
