Rev. James Sampson Williams &
James Sampson "Samp" Williams, son of Henry Thomas & Martha Jane (Thomas) Williams, was born 26 February, 1870 in Arkansas. He was married to Della Caldonia McAfee, daughter of Charles Renow & Cecila Ann (Terry) McAfee, on July 11,1892 in Navarro County, Texas by Rev. James Campbell Osborne. Samp's brother, Joseph Thomas Williams, married Della's sister, Alice Zelina McAfee. Samp attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Samp and Della had five children (listed below). Samp was a Baptist Minister, farmer, and also ran a store in Emmett. The family lived in Henderson County for a short while then moved to Corsicana. Samp died of a Heart Attack at the family home at 410 E. 12th Street Corsicana, on February 6, 1938.
Della was born 7 December 1874 in White County AR and died at the Corsicana Clinic on 10 November 1947.
Samp and Della are buried in the Prairie Grove Cemetery, Emmett, Navarro County, Texas.

Funeral services for James Sampson Williams, aged 67 years, Baptist Minister, who died at the family residence, 410 East Twelfth Avenue, Sunday morning at 4 o'clock, were held Monday afternoon from the Emmett Baptist church. Interment was made in the
Emmett Cemetery. The rites were conducted by Rev. Clyde Griffin, pastor of the Calvery Baptist Church. Rev. Mr. Williams was a native of Arkansas, but had resided in Navarro County for the past 60 years. He lived in the Emmett community for many years, but had resided herefor some time. Survivors are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. I. C. Pool, Corsicana; two sons,
Judson Williams, Corsicana, and Harvey Williams, Kerens; a sister,
Mrs. Mollie, Green, Emmett and a number of other relatives. Pallbearers were I.C. Pool, J.D. Skinner, Clyde Ellington, Spurgeon Williams, Henry Williams, and Reno Williams. Corley Funeral Home directed the arrangements.

WILLIAMS - Corsicana, Texas. Feb. 7. - Funeral services for James Sampson Williams, 67, Baptist minister, who died at the home Sunday, were held Monday at the Emmett Baptist Church.
Williams was a native of Arkansas, but had lived in Navarro County sixty years. Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. I C. Pool of Corsicana; two sons, Judson Williams of Corsicana and Harvey Williams of Kerens, and one sister.

Poole, Corsicana; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, two
sisters, Mrs. Alice Williams, Corsicana, Mrs. Minnie Perryman,
Dallas and Mrs. Etta Shelton, Frost, and other relatives.
Pallbearers were Elton Skinner, Bill Tom Bickers, J. D. Skinner,
Pierce Dockery, Dewey Osteen and Claude Norman.
