Myrta Morris

Myrta Morris of Garland, born July 10, 1922 in Corsicana, went to be with our Lord on April 17, 2003 in her daughter's home with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren by her side. She is preceded in death by her loving husbands, Paul Oksenkrug and Weldon Morris. She was loved by all and will be remembered for her love of the Lord and the joy she received from singing and dancing.

Beloved Mother and Meemaw, she leaves behind four children: Kerry Oksenkrug and wife MaryAnna, Debbie Teel and husband Jerry, Henry Morris and wife Carole, Kim Allen Bowen and husband Ron; grandchildren: Melody Allen Neff and husband Brian, Melissa Teel Zimmerman and husband Bret, Emily Allen, Debbie Jones and husband Jeff, Christopher and Nick Morris; and great-grandchildren: Caleb Neff and Zach Jones.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. today, April 19, 2003 at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rowlett Chapel with Pastor Bobby Richardson officiating. JEFFERSON, Texas - Kenneth Ray Trent, 49, of Avenger, Texas, passed away April 15, 2003, in Avenger.  Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 19 at Kerens Cemetery in Kerens, Texas, with the Rev. James Arnold and Merele Holston officiating.  Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 18.

Mr. Trent was born June 29, 1953, in Dallas, the son of Thelma Shipley Trent and Urchail Ray Trent.

He passed peacefully at home on the lake surrounded by his loving wife, daughter and youngest sister by his side to comfort him on his saddle of wings to be with our heavenly Father in everlasting peace.  He loved training race horses.

Survivors include his wife, Rexine Sebesta-Trent; daughter, Aspen Trent-Segura of Austin; father Ray Trent of Waco; sisters, Brenda Walker of Waco and Racine Timmons of Granbury; brother, Doyle Trent of Waco; and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and aunts and uncles.

Kenneth Ray Trent

Kenneth Ray Trent, 49, of Avinger, Texas passed away April 15, 2003 in Avinger.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. today at Kerens Cemetery in Kerens with the Rev. James Arnold and Merle Holston officiating.

Mr. Trent was born June 29, 1953 in Dallas to Thelma Shipley Trent and Urchail Ray Trent. He lived in Avinger most of the past 29 years. He graduated from Bryan Adam High School and was a race horse trainer for most of his life. After a lengthy and bravely-fought illness (that took him too soon from those of us who loved him dearly), Kenneth passed away peacefully at home on the lake surrounded by his loving wife, daughter and youngest sister by his side to comfort him on his saddle of wings to be with our heavenly father in everlasting peace. Throughout his life he was surrounded by his love of animals, raising and training coon dogs, race horses and, at the end, his chickens. He loved to travel and his talents were many. He was an excellent hobby carpenter and in recent years traveled and worked as a fiber optic inspector in Washington State and Nevada. He was a Christian who loved life and lived it to the fullest. Dad, you will be greatly missed but mostly remembered for your generosity and your ability to make people laugh and accomplishing everything you set out to do. He leaves behind his best friend, his dog, Ace. He was preceded in death by his mother and his aunt, Gladys Rhoades.

Mr. Trent is survived by his wife, Rexine Sebesta-Trent; daughter, Aspent Trent-Segura of Austin; son, Aaron Marroquin of Austin; grandson, Kameron Segura of Austin; father, Ray Trent of Waco; sisters, Brenda Walker of Waco and Racine Timmons of Granbury; brother, Doyle Trent of Waco; nephew, Richard Walker of Waco; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

James J. Estes, 67, of Corsicana passed away Friday, April 18, 2003 in Corsicana.

Mr. Estes was born June 10, 1935 in Eureka. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dola and Dorothy Estes.

Mr. Estes is survived by sons, James A. Estes of Sewell, N.J. and Steven K. Estes of Desoto; granddaughters, Leigh Estes and Jamie Estes, both of Sewell, N.J.; sister, Jerene McKinney of Tool; and brothers, Wayne Estes of Rice and Carolos Estes of Wilmer.

Etta Rudd, 93, died Friday, April 18, 2003 in Kerens. She was born June 18, 1909 in Ellis County to William Anderson and Eliza Ann (Phillips) Purvis. She married Juel Rudd on Oct. 12, 1929 and was a member of South Prong Baptist Church.

She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Juel Rudd, in 1999, and five sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2003 in the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home Chapel in Waxahachie with the Rev. James Wilcox officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Burial Park.

Family visitation will be Monday from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Conger was born Nov. 12, 1920, in Navarro County. He was an Army veteran having served in World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll Sr. and Lener Conger; brothers, Raymond Conger, Weldon Conger and James Conger; and sister, Lorene Conger.

Jimmie Jack Cooper

Jimmie Jack Cooper, 70, died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at Sheridan VA Medical Center. Cremation has taken place. No services will be held at this time. Kane Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Cooper was born Sept. 11, 1932, in Corsicana, Texas, to Thomas B. and Velma (Coskey) Cooper. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy after high school and served in Korea until his discharge. He had been self-employed as a commercial fisherman the past several years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapshooting, and other outdoor activities and was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Russell. Survivors include two daughters, Dawn Young and Aurora Cooper, both of Sitka, Alaska; a son, Tom, of Arlington, Wash.; and seven grandchildren.

Services for Floyd L. Culpepper, 91, of Malakoff are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel in Athens. Interment to follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park with the Rev. George Couch officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens.

Mr. Culpepper was born March 26, 1912, to the late King Europe and Louie Wooton Culpepper in Section, Ala. He passed away April 17, 2003, in Corsicana. He was preceded in death by his two sons, Leon Culpepper and J. B. Culpepper.

Survivors include his wife, Burmah Culpepper of Malakoff; son,. K.E. "Bud" Culpepper of Irving; daughter, Betty Ruth Norwood of Malakoff; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and sister, Elsie Bryant of Talladega, Ala.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6-8 p.m.

Tee P. (Lawson) Pipes
Dec 24, 1916 - Dec 27, 2002

Tee P. Pipes passed away in a Terrell nursing home Dec. 27, 2002. The daughter of the late Jesse Sewell Lawson and Martha J. Walker Lawson, she was born in Corsicana, Texas, on Dec. 24, 1916, and had been a resident of Terrell since 1940. She worked in the school cafeterias several years and was employed thirteen years as a checker for Brookshire’s in Terrell. Mrs. Pipes was a member of First Baptist Church Terrell. She was married to Lilbourn Jefferson Pipes in Terrell on Nov. 5, 1939. 
Mrs. Pipes is survived by her husband, “L. J.” of Terrell; son, Kenneth Pipes of Terrell; daughters, Cynthia Ann McKinney and Charlotte Lynn Rand, both of Kaufman; brother, Grady Lawson of TerreIl; sister, Lavicia Fountain of Terrell; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren; and other relatives and a host of friends. 
Mrs. Pipes was preceded in death by her parents, three grandchildren, five brothers and two sisters. 
Funeral services were held in the Chapel of Goggans Funeral Home in Terrell at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, with Rev. Ernie McCoulskey and Rev. Todd Peavy officiating. Interment followed at Highland Memorial Gardens.

R. Bloonberg, who died Thursday evening, was buried yesterday evening by the Queen City lodge K. of H. Mr. Bloonberg recently came to Dallas from Corsicana. He leaves a wife.

Emory Claude Morgan

Dear Fellow Compatriots:  With a deeply saddened heart, it is my duty to inform you  of the passing of one of your fellow Compatriots of the Sacramento Chapter of S.A.R. Emory Claude Morgan passed away Thursday morning Feb 6th.  The following is his bio.  May our thoughts, prayers, and support be with the Morgan Family on this sad occasion.

Emory Claude Morgan

Emory Claude Morgan was born December 7, 1920 in Kerens, Navarro County Texas, where he spent his childhood in Texas, graduating from Weatherford High School in 1939.  He entered the United States Air Corps as a private, became a pilot, and was honorably discharged as a Captain in 1946. (WWII)

He graduated from the University of Southern California in 1948, and received an MA degree from George Washington University.  He re-entered the military, served 25 years on active duty, and retired from the United States Air Force in 1966 as a Colonel.

He was married to Fern Louise Lobaugh for over 60 years.  Claude and Fern were blessed with two adult children, James Michael Morgan and Lynda Louise Morgan, and four grandchildren.  His hobbies were sailing and all types of boating.

Claude's application to join SAR was approved on May 1, 2000.  His patriot ancestor, William Brand, served as a private in the North Carolina Line.  William Brand received a pension for his service.

Bill Joe Hill, 52, of Blooming Grove passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2003, in Blooming Grove after a long battle with cancer.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Griffin-Roughton Chapel in Blooming Grove.

Services will be 4 p.m. Friday at Blooming Grove United Methodist Church with Brother Bill Oliver of Central Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jack Armstrong, Mike Hicks, Michael Hiler, Randy Hiler, Hugh Nicholson and Mike Russell.

Mr. Hill was born July 5, 1950, in San Angelo to Charlie and Sadie Hiler Hill. He was a criminal science graduate from Sam Houston State University and proudly served Navarro County as an adult probation officer for 25 years. He also served God by playing drums for several years in the Glory Bound Gospel Band.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Gale Gillen Hill of Blooming Grove; sons, David Hill of Dallas and Dustin Hill of College Station; daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Daron Wigington of Blooming Grove; grandchildren, Forrest, Wesley and Katelyn Grace Wigington of Blooming Grove; brother, Ed Hill of Grand Saline; mother-in-law, Wanda Gillen of Blooming Grove; brother-in-law and wife, Bill and Karen Gillen of Corpus Christi; and a number of aunts and uncles and four nephews.

Ima Dee Munns

Funeral services for Ima Dee Munns, 78, of Athens were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Zion Hill Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Wes Bynum officiating. Interment followed at Zion Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tommy Snowden, Darrell Snowden, Cody Wylie, Nathan Munns, Tim Meredith and Jeff Munns.

Mrs. Munns was born Aug. 30, 1924, in Henderson County to the late John Robert and Bessie Mae Hester Snowden and passed away April 19, 2003, in an Athens hospital. She had lived in Henderson County all of her life, and was a member of the Tri Cities Baptist Church. She and her husband had owned and operated Munns Grocery on Cayuga Drive in Athens for many years. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Virgil Snowden, Leon Snowden, John B. Snowden and Jessie Snowden.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, J. D. Munns; daughters and sons-in-law, Venita and Mike Fizer and Sheila and Billy Smalley, all of Athens; sisters-in-law, Helen Snowden and Jackie Snowden, both of Athens, and Myrtle Snowden of Corsicana; four grandchildren, Brian Fizer, Justin Fizer, Jamey Smalley and Nichole Kirkpatrick; great-grandson, Jonathan Kirkpatrick; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Mrs. Lemmons was born Nov. 15, 1923 in Corsicana. She received her formal education at G.W. Jackson High School. She was a member of First Independent Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; grandson, Carlos Becknell II; and brothers, Frank W. Douglas and George Douglas.

Survivors include her daughters, Diana Titus Hill of San Bruno, Calif., Piccola Titus Becknell of Suisyn, Calif., Lottie Titus of San Francisco, Calif., Margaret Titus and Birdie LaNell Henderson and husband Raymond, all of Corsicana; sister, Alice B. Jessie Louise Hancock

Jessie Louise Hancock died April 24, 2003, at her residence in Austin at the age of 90. Mrs. Hancock was born Oct. 25, 1912, to Fern H. and Jessie B. Hancock at Goldthwaite in Mills County. The family moved to West Texas when she was a child. She married George E. Hancock on July 11, 1937, at Tahoka. The couple resided in Lubbock, Missouri, and Corsicana. Mr. Hancock preceded her in death in 1991. Later, she moved to McAllen where she resided until 1998 when she moved to Austin. At the time of her death, she was a member of Bannockburn Baptist Church in Austin and the South Austin Christian Women's Association. She had been a faithful member of the Baptist church for more than 75 years. She was a former school teacher as well as an excellent artist and a judge and teacher of china painting throughout the state. A member of the Austin Porcelain Arts Club, she was a former member of the China Painting Teachers of Texas.

Mrs. Hancock is survived by son, George N. "Butch" Hancock and wife Adrienne of Terlingua; daughter, Linda Daniel of Austin; grandsons, Steve Daniel of Austin and Rory E. Hancock of Terlingua; granddaughters, Helena Stark and Katy Fashorn of Terlingua; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at Cook-Walden Forest Oaks Funeral Home, 6300 W. William Cannon Dr., Austin. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday, April 28, at Resthaven Memorial Park in Corsicana.

James E. "Gene" Carver, 76, of Dawson, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2003, at his residence. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist church of Dawson with Rev. Brad Brittain and Rev. Chuck Wallace officiating. Interment will follow at Dawson Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at Wade Funeral Home in Hubbard.

Gene was born July 11, 1926, in Mumford to Lum and Maude Finley Carver. He had lived in Dawson for the past seven years and prior to that had lived in Santa Fe, Texas, in Galveston County for the previous 43 years. Gene retired from Union Carbide in Texas City in 1985 where he worked as a machinest supervisor. He was a rancher and loved rodeos, horses and taking his grandson to the "Buffalo Dome" and was a member of several rodeo associations in Texas, the most recent being the Texas Senior Pro Rodeo Association. Gene was also a member of the Lions Club of Dawson, Historical Society of Dawson, Ex-Students Association of Dawson and the First United Methodist Church of Dawson. He was an Army veteran having served in the Korean War.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by wife Lena Mae "Nub" Bumpers Carver of Dawson; daughter Marilyn Dunn of Richmond; grandson Dalton Dunn of Richmond; sisters Fern patke of Waco, Margie Ellis of Houston and Buna Russell of Seminole; sister-in-law Barbara "Bylo" Savage of Newark, Calif., and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers will be Sonny Sikes, Ronnie Williams, Rock Stephens, Kenneth Bumpers, Collin Burmpers, Wilmer Hale, Bob Bell and Curtis Creager. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Springer, G.C. Young, Ray Woods, Tony Sultana, Rolando Garcia, Homer Garcia, Arthur Jo Renfro and Joe Perez.

G.W. "Pat" Patterson, 85, of Blooming Grove, passed away April 26, 2003, at Navarro Regional Hospital.

Mr. Patterson was the owner of Patterson Grocery & Market for many years. He was retired from the Texas Highway Department and a deacon at Central Baptist Church. He loved baseball and helped start Little League baseball in Blooming Grove. Mr. Patterson was also a member of Blooming Grove Masonic Lodge and was a veteran of World War II.

Ruby Kattner

Ruby Kattner, 78, of Corsicana, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2003.

Ruby Kattner was born in Bell County and lived there until she and her husband moved to Corsicana nearly 50 years ago. She has been married to Leland Kattner for 57 years and they have two sons, Max and his wife Patty of Pensacola, Fla., and Steve and his wife Olga of Longview. She also has five grandchildren, Lauren, Nathan, Andy, Chris and Fred.

She and Leland owned the Western Auto Store in Corsicana for 32 years. She was past president of the Business and Professional Women's Club and has served as a member of the Corsicana Area Chamber of Commerce Tourism Committee. She was a member and president of Kinsloe House. She was a member of the Corsicana First United Methodist Church, where she has served as past president of the United Methodist Women.

There are many other volunteer activities of which Ruby Kattner has been a member, including serving with the Hospital Auxiliary, Scholarship Committee, Navarro County Youth Exposition as a judge, Board of Navarro County Agency for Retarded Citizens, Board of Community Services, Christmas in April and the American Cancer Drive.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home at 10 a.m. with Rev. Mike Alexander officiating. Interment will be at the Resthaven Memorial Park in Corsicana.

Pallbearers will be Vernon Crook, Vic Howell, Bill Carmack, Dick Rice, Perry Taylor and Elbert Prince.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Endowment Fund of the First United Methodist Church of Corsicana.

Ruby was beloved by all her family and friends, and will be truly missed by all who knew here. She exemplified kindness and love to everyone, but above all loved her husband, her children and her grandchildren.

Elmer Sowell

Military memorial services will be June 27 at Topeka Cemetery for Elmer Sowell, 73, Topeka, who died Friday, April 11, 2003, at home.

He was born June 27, 1929, in Corsicana, Texas, to Moria and Josie Frankie Brock Sowell, and lived in Texas until 1991. He worked for Tyler Pipe in Tyler, Texas, for more than 20 years.

He served several years in the Army. He was stationed in Japan and was a veteran of the Korean War.

He was a member of Post No. 7211 of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Tyler, Texas.

He married Bonnie Watson on Aug. 3, 1954, in Tyler, Texas. They divorced, but she remained his companion. She survives. A son, Jimmy Sowell, died in January 1994.

Other survivors include three sons, Billy Sowell, Sulphur Springs, Texas, Bobby Sowell, Conway, Ark., and Walter Sowell, Huntsville, Texas; a daughter, Teresa Burton, Topeka; three brothers, Charlie Sowell, San Antonio, Bobby Sowell, Lindale, Texas, and Pearl Sowell, Sioux Falls,
S.D.; a sister, Evelyee Beakler, Sioux Falls, S.D.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Sowell was cremated.

George Weatherby, 52, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2003, at his home in Jacksonville of congestive heart failure.

A private memorial service is pending with Thompson Funeral Home in Jacksonville.

He was a longtime resident of Corsicana. He joined the Marine Corps after graduating from Corsicana High School. He served in Vietnam where he earned a Purple Heart.

George was employed for many years as a salesman for Goins-Weatherby Ford Sales and was also employed as a welder.

George was an outgoing, friendly person who enjoyed meeting people, visiting with friends, cooking outdoors and going to the lake.

George's parents, G. H. and Shirley Goins Weatherby preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Vickie Weatherby of Jacksonville; son, Wade Weatherby of Jacksonville; stepsons, Jeremy and Jason Beck; sister, Janet Weatherby Lawery; niece, Laura Thrasher; and nephews, Jeffrey and Jonathan Thrasher.

Mrs. Gafford was born Jan. 27, 1908, in Mount Pleasant. She worked at the Corsicana Cotton Mill for 28 years, and later at Texas Miller Hats for 15 years. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and being with her family. She was a Christian mother, and a member of Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A. J. "Skeeter" Gafford; parents, Thomas and Maudia Bailey; daughter, Vadie Mae Gafford; stepdaughter, Pearl Elizabeth Rochlin; brothers, Leonard Bailey, Loyd Bailey and Bruce Arbury Bailey; and an infant brother.

Jacqueline Maellard Walton, 80, the beloved wife of James (Pete) Walton, died April 28, 2003, at home in Corsicana. Born in Paris, France, daughter of Blanche and Alexandre Morrin, Jacqueline lived and traveled abroad throughout her life, making her home in the United States since 1980. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Jocelyne Deray (Juan Rodriguez), her granddaughters Sara Rodriguez and Jacqueline Rodriguez (Jose Fuentes), and great-grandson Jose Alexandre Fuentes, all residing in Allcante, Spain.

Jacqueline is also dearly missed by her second family, daughters Kathleen (Charlie) Burroughs and Diane (Bob) Morris, grandchildren Jim (Anne) Burroughs, Mike (Robin) Burroughs, Lauri Burroughs, Steph (Scott) Todd, Allison (Scott) Curty, and Amy (Alex) Romashko, and four great-grandchildren Ben and Max Burroughs, Nicholas Burroughs and Gavin Curty.

Capt. Leslie O'dell Lynch

Capt. Leslie O'dell Lynch, 77, JAG Corps, U.S. Navy (retired), died Friday, May 2, 2003, at a Fort Worth hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Blessing Colonial Chapel in Mansfield. Entombment will follow at Seaside Mausoleum in Corpus Christi.

Capt. Lynch was born June 15, 1925, in Corsicana, the son of Mack A. and Dora Adamson Lynch. He attended and graduated from public schools in Corsicana. In 1942, he entered Texas Wesleyan College in Fort Worth, where he met and courted Jeanne Fox, later to become his wife. In March 1943, he enlisted in the Navy as apprentice seaman. He was later selected for officer training, and upon being commissioned as ensign in the Naval Reserve, he was married on July 7, 1945, to Jeanne Fox. Thereafter, he served on a cruiser in the western Pacific until he was released from active duty in March 1946. Capt. Lynch then resumed his education, receiving a law degree from Southern Methodist University in 1950. After a brief law practice, he was recalled to active duty in the Navy, where he served for 18 months in the Pacific on the USS O'Bannon, a destroyer, seeing combat in and around Korea. In September 1952, he was transferred to legal duties in Washington, D.C. Thereafter, he was selected for the Regular Navy, and continued with legal duties until his retirement on June 30, 1973, while he was serving as Navy and Marine Corps military judge for the southeastern United States, based at Pensacola, Fla. Upon retirement from the Navy, Capt. Lynch assumed the duties of clerk of the 13th Court of Civil Appeals in Corpus Christi, upon the retirement from the post by a wonderful friend, Margaret Blackmon.

In 1974, he entered the private practice of law until his retirement there from in 1983, primarily due to the reasons of health of himself and wife, Jeanne. In 2002, following his wife's death, Capt. Lynch relocated to Fort Worth to be closer to his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Aug. 11, 2001; and his loving youngest daughter, Melanie Jeanne Lynch, Oct. 22, 1993.

Survivors include his son, Leslie O. Lynch Jr. of Tiburon, Calif.; daughter, Stephanie Charlene Lynch Bertani of Exeter, N.H.; and seven grandchildren, Murphy Charles Lynch, Robert Leslie Lynch, Katharine Diane Lynch, Richard James Bertani Jr., Michael Geoffrey Bertani, Kate Natalie Bertani and Stephen Fox Bertani.

Ressie Thomas Ainsworth Pease, 90, of Corsicana passed away Saturday, May 3, 2003 in Corsicana.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Corley Funeral Home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Curtis Gilbert officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Point Cemetery in Kerens.

Mrs. Pease was born March 19, 1913 in Drane. She was a homemaker and a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Corsicana and Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by husband Dick Ainsworth; husband Roosevelt R. Pease; sons Charles Ainsworth, Carlton Ainsworth, Homer Gene Ainsworth and Kenneth Ainsworth; sisters Lorene Blissett, Lucille Woodward and Bobbie Duncan; and brothers Jack Thomas, Gilbert Thomas, Wade Thomas and J. R. Thomas Jr.

Survivors include daughter Mary Bernice of Rock Springs, Ark,; daughter-in-law Diane Ainsworth of Corsicana; grandchildren Jeannie and Mitch Hansen of Corsicana, Michael and Doreen Ainsworth of Corsicana, Lindsey and Lori Follis of Corsicana and Mary Jane and Danny Brown of Greenville; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Billie Bogle of Corsicana, Verna Mae Keathley of Corsicana and Lena Mae Ainsworth of Corsicana; and nephews Ronald Gene Thomas of Georgetown and Carlos Thomas of Dallas.

Hugh R. Duggan, 75, of Corsicana formerly of La Marque passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at the Twilight Nursing Home in Corsicana, Texas. He was born November 14, 1927 in Galveston

Mr. Duggan was a Marine Engineer for Lykes Brother Shipping Line, served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War, member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church of La Marque and a member of Harmony Lodge #6 A. F. & A. M. of Galveston. Life member VFW Post #5400 of Santa Fe, TX.

He was preceded in death by wife Joyce Duggan and parents Mr. and Mrs. Harold M. Duggan. He is survived by sister Lillian Patricia Grimes and husband Captain Fred M. Grimes of Corsicana; nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, March 7, 2003 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. Masonic graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2003 at Galveston Memorial Park.

ODESSA — William D. “Bo” Loper, 90, of Odessa died Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.

He was born in Corsicana. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a 50-year resident of Odessa. He was Baptist.

Louise Bowmer Trainham

Louise Bowmer Trainham of Honey Grove, born Jan. 1, 1915, in San Saba, passed away May 4, 2003.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oswald and Christine Behrens Andres; husbands, Dr. O. C. Bowmer and J. W. Trainham; brothers, Fritz Andres and Norbert Andres; and sister, Ruby Andres.

She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Otho and Rosa Bowmer; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Hal Fowler, all of Honey Grove; four grandsons, Andy Bowmer, Blake and Karen Bowmer, John Fowler, and Jeffrey and Breanna Fowler; two great-grandsons, Blair Bowmer and Payton Fowler; and sister, Frances Divine.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at St. James Lutheran church in the Allen's Chapel community. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana at 3 p.m. following the service.

Nancy L. Dresser, 67, of Corsicana passed away Sunday, May 4, 2003, at Twilight Home in Corsicana.

Private services will be held.

She was born Aug. 3, 1935, at Fort Sam Houston. She moved back to Corsicana in 1963. She was a longtime member of Westhill Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul A. Dresser and Elizabeth Warren Dresser.

Survivors include her brother, Paul A. Dresser of Williamsburg, Va.; niece, Amanda Dresser Gada of Williamsburg, Va.; several cousins including a special cousin and her husband, Ann and Paul Betts of McAllen; special friend, Wanda Penney of Corsicana; and wonderful caregivers, Peffie Radford, Sheila Smith and Ruby Walker, all of Corsicana.

James E. Page

James E. Page, of Corsicana, Texas, died in New Brunswick, N. J. May 12, 1955 where he was employed by the Pipe Line Construction Company. He had worked in the Indiana area for some time several years ago with the same company. Born August 20, 1896, in Emhouse, Texas, he was the son of  Alfred Lee and Caroline Cocker Page. Most of his life was spent in Pennsylvania and New Jersey although his work required him to do extensive traveling. He was a member of the Ebensburg Lodge of the L. O. O. M. Services were conducted at Robinson's, 36 N. 7th Street, at 10:00 a.m. today by the Rev. Levi H. Goehring, interment being made in Oakland cemetery. Surviving him is how wife, Hallie Page of Corsicana, Texas; two sons, James Edward Page, Jr., of Monroe, Michigan, and William T. Page, Sr. of Corsicana, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Calvin (Wanda Nell) Renfrow of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Bruce Tucker of Baytown, Texas, and 11 grandchildren. A son, Jerry, husband of the former Peggy Banks of Indiana preceded him in death several years ago.

Percell Milton Sr., 78, of Corsicana passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2003, in Corsicana.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Eastside Church of Christ with Brother W.W. Wilmore officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Corsicana.

Pallbearers will be Duane Milton, Dmarr Milton, Percell Milton III, Dameon Milton, Ocell Miller Jr. and Billy Tankersley.

Mr. Milton was born July 16, 1924, in Timothy. He received his education at G.W. Jackson High School. He was a faithful member of Eastside Church of Christ. He was employed by the Corsicana Police Department for 16 1/2 years and retired from Medical Arts Clinic after 17 1/2 years.

Survivors include his wife, Maxine Milton of Corsicana; two sons, Percell Milton Jr. and wife Carolyn of Garland, and Davis T. Milton and wife Charlene of Corsicana; grandchildren, Duane Milton, Dmarr Milton, Percell Milton III, Dameon Milton, Amy Milton and Danielle Milton, whom he loved dearly; 10 great-grandchildren, who were the joy of his life; one aunt, Myrtle Davis; special niece and nephews, Bettye and Lee Criddle, Ocell Miller Jr. and Billy Tankersley; special cousin, Jimmie Dee Prince; and a host of other nieces, nephews, church family and dear friends.

Mr. Cooper was born Aug. 7, 1946, in Ardmore, Okla. He was a veteran, having served with the U.S. Coast Guard.

Theodore F. Riley, 74, of Corsicana passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at Navarro Regional Hospital.

Mr. Riley was born Sept. 2, 1928, in Toledo, Ohio, to James C. Riley and Wanda Bukowski Riley. He was a wire installer for an electric company for many years.
