CORSICANA, Texas. - Mrs. R. L. Kelley, 87, native of Navarro County, died at her home in Streetman Saturday.
Funeral services were held from the First Presbyterian Church in Streetman Sunday. Burial was in the Birdston Cemetery.
Surviving are a son, Clyde C. Steele, Katy; four daughters, Mrs. O. L. Steele, Streetman; Mrs. W. G. Steele, Dallas; Mrs. E. R. Steele, Gladewater, and Mrs. B. A. Bailey, Fort Worth; a brother, T. J. Burleson, Streetman; ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

CORSICANA, Texas. Jan. 30 (AP). - Elmer Keith, 61, fire chief of Corsicana for nineteen years before his resignation a few months ago, died in a hospital Friday.
The funeral will be Saturday.

KEELING - Wortham, Texas. April 27. - Mrs. Amanda Keeling, 84, died Tuesday night. Mrs. Keeling was a native of New Albany, Miss. She came to Wortham forty-five years ago with her husband, R. L. Keeling. Surviving are the following daughters and sons: Mrs. M. C. Strange, Mrs. J. L. Calame, T. A. Keeling, E. A. Keeling, all of Wortham, and J. E. Keeling of Henderson. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Protestant Church Wednesday afternoon. Pallbearers were the following grandsons: E. A. Strange, Spurgeon Calame and Charles Keeling of Wortham, Clyde Keeling of Mexia, T. G. Keeling of Corsicana, James Keeling of Henderson, Marion Keeling of Overton and Clovis Keeling of Overton.

WAXAHACHIE, Texas - Violet Ruth Joslin, 64, of 631 Dunn, a 50-year resident of Waxahachie, Ellis County, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Boze-Mitchell Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Hillcrest Burial Park.
She died Tuesday in a Waxahachie hospital.
Mrs. Joslin was a native of Emhouse, Navarro County. She was a member of Waxahachie Rebecca Lodge and Ferris Heights United Methodist Church.

Jordan of Corsicana; four daughters, Mrs. Virgil Williamson of Corsicana, Mrs. Gulick Robinson of Chandler, Mrs. M. E. Hanson of San Antonio, Mrs. Robert Werner of Glen Cove, N. M.; two stepsons, Sam B. Jordan of Corsicana and Paul Jordan of Drane.

CORSICANA, Texas, July 23. - W. R. Jones, Pioneer Of Mildred, Is Dead W. R. Jones, 75, resident of the Mildred community for a number of years, died at his home two miles east of Mildred Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock and the funeral was held from the chapel of the Sutherland Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. A. E. Walker, Church of Christ minister.
Surviving are his wife, five sons, B. L. Jones, V. H. Jones, W. H. Jones, J. A. Jones and J. S. Jones, and one daughter, Mrs. Oza Gobert.

He is survived by one son, J. H. Jones, who resides in this county.

Dies From Gun Wounds; Self-Defense Claimed
CORSICANA, Texas, Sept. 28. - Robert Jones, 24 years old, single, is dead as the result of gunshot wounds sustained Sunday morning at 1:30 o'clock in the Cryer Creek community, Navarro County. Joe George made bond Sunday in connection with the shooting and was released.
Deputy Sheriff Rufus Pevehouse, who answered the call, said George claimed self-defense. Jones is said to have lived in the Avalon community.

CORSICANA, Texas, Sept. 3. - Mrs. H. B. Jones, 68, died in a local hospital Saturday following an operation several days ago. She was a pioneer resident of Navarro County and was county treasurer for four years.

Mrs. Jennie E. Jones Dies at Corsicana
CORSICANA, Texas, Sept. 6. - Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie E. Jones, 69, wife of the late H. B. Jones, who died at the Corsicana Hospital and Clinic, were held at Frost with burial in the Frost Cemetery.
Mrs. Jones was born in Mississippi but had resided in Navarro County for a number of years.
Mrs. Jones was treasurer of Navarro County two terms from 1923 to 1927.
The following children survive: Two sons, J. B. Rogers, Dawson; Thomas Rogers, Purdon; nine daughters, Mrs. L. E. CORSICANA, Texas, July 15. - Mary Jane Jones, 89, Dies; Funeral Today Mrs. Mary Jane Jones, 89, long-time resident of Navarro County, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Ivan Todd, at Kerens Saturday noon. The funeral will be held Sunday in the Black Hills Cemetery. Mrs. Jones was the wife of the late Houston Jones, former Navarro County treasurer.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. S. B. Henry, Corsicana; Mrs. Elsie Patterson, Black Hills, and Mrs. Todd, Kerens; four sons, Loss Jones, Corsicana; Clade Jones, Emhouse; J. B. Jones, Corsicana; and A. B. Jones, Erick, Okla., and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The funeral was held at the Ward Bridge Cemetery Thursday afternoon where burial was made. Surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Bennett, Mrs. Frank Brannon of Teague, Mrs. W. D. Brannon of Pickett and Mrs. G. J. Bason of Messela Park, N.M.; four brothers, W. M. Sheppard of Kerens, T. J. Sheppard of Temple, J. M. Sheppard of Idalou and Jess Sheppard of Dallas.

Jones, all of Corsicana; Watson Jones and Rufus Jones of Hickory, Ok., and Raymond Jones, Brenham, and one sister, Mrs. Willie Ratliff, Corsicana.

Mrs. Mabel Kerr Jones, 59, of 2011 Bernard Place, native Texan and resident of Dallas thirty-seven years, died Tuesday.
Dr. Thomas F. Gallaher will conduct funeral services at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Oak Cliff Presbyterian Church, of which she was a member. Burial will be in a Corsicana cemetery at 10 a.m. Thursday.
Mrs. Jones was born at Corsicana and was a member of a pioneer Navarro County family. She formerly had been active in parent-teacher work at W. H. Adamson High School.
Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. John W. Newman, Dallas; Mrs. Charles J. Sawicki, Dallas; a sister, Mrs. Helen K. McShan, Nome, Alaska, and a grandchild.
Pallbearers will be Guy D. Rose, Bliss Jones, Jess O. Yeargan, Charles E. Kain, all of Dallas, and H. B. Bomar and H. T. Jackson of Corsicana.

JONES - Corsicana, Texas. Oct. 23. - Funeral services for Henry W. Jones, 40 years old, brakeman on the Trinity & Brazos Valley, who died of injuries received in a work train schedule near Tomball, Harris County, were held at the First Baptist Church at Navarro Thursday afternoon. The Rev. W. T. Breston, pastor of the Hope Baptist Church at Corsicana, officiated. Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery with the Masons in charge of the services at the grave. Jones is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Jones, Navarro; five brothers, Ernest, Denison; Robert, California; Leonard, Goose Creek; Lewis, Crosby and Herman, Navarro; and three sisters, Mrs. C. F. Seagraves, Mrs. S. B. Parks, both of Teague, and Mrs. W. H. Maxwell, Navarro.

D. M. Johnston, Type Salesman, Dies at Age 64 David Mills Johnston, 64, of 3219 Homer, a type and printing machine salesman for forty years, died in a Dallas hospital Saturday.
Born in Corsicana on July 4, 1887, Johnston came to Dallas in 1910 as a salesman for the old Barnhart Brothers & Spindler Company and later was with the American Type Founders Sales Corporation and the Western Newspaper Union, all of Dallas.
Johnston traveled the Southwestern States for forty years selling type and printing machinery to both newspapers and to commercial printers. He retired in 1941 because of ill health.
Johnston was a member of City Temple Presbyterian Church and of Trinity Valley Masonic Lodge.
Johnston is survived by his wife and three sisters, Mrs. J. B. Crawford and Mrs. R. C. Dyer, both of Dallas, and Mrs. F. V. Richards of Los Angeles, Calif.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the George A.
Brewer Funeral Chapel, 3603 Ross, with Dr. Harry Sarles, pastor of City Temple Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, with Trinity Valley Masonic Lodge in charge of the graveside ceremonies.
Pallbearers will be Stewart Rivers, Al Smith, Chester Lance, Emile Borak, Fred Johnson and Frank Dyer.

B. B. Johnston, First National Official, Dies Bank Vice-President And Trust Officer Was Expert in Line Ben B. Johnston, 58, of 3117 Southwestern Boulevard, vice-president and trust officer of the First National Bank in Dallas, died at midnight Wednesday at a local hospital. He had been ill since Monday.
Mr. Johnston was born in Navarro County and attended public schools at Corsicana. He moved to Dallas as a young man and married Miss Georgia Miller. He had never been in business of any kind except banking, and started work for the First National Bank's predecessors thirty-eight years ago.
He was regarded as one of the Southwest's foremost trust officials.
He was a member of the Highland Park Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Miss Jacqueline Johnston; a brother, D. Mills Johnston, all of Dallas, and three sisters, Mrs. J. B. Crawford and Mrs. R. C. Dyer of Dallas and Mrs. F. V. Richards of Los Angeles, Calif.
Arrangements are with Marrs-Mundy-Quill Funeral Home.

Dr. Johnson Dies at His Home in Dallas After Long Illness Dr. S. W. Johnson, one of the first men engaged in developing the oil fields in Texas, at Corsicana, died early Saturday morning at his home,
3405 Oak Lawn avenue. He had been ill for several months. His brother, Cone Johnson of Tyler, arrived a short time before his death.
The body will be taken to Corsicana, his former home, Sunday morning, leaving Dallas at 9 o'clock, and funeral services will be held in the First Methodist Church of Corsicana at 2 p.m. The active pallbearers will be Albert Berry of Mexia, Haron Ferguson, Elmer Butler, R. B. Johnson, William Clarkson, Frank Drane, Arthur Elliott and W. G. Baker, all of Corsicana.
The honorary pallbearers named are Pat O'Keefe, W. T. Henderson, Cullen Thomas, Julius Germany, Curtis Scoville, Royal A. Ferris, Frank H. Blankenship, Duncan Culbreth, Grier Taylor, the Rev. Horace Bishop, Max Hahn, Dr. J. C. Calhoun and Dr. Henry Winans, all of Dallas; Dr. Heb Beall, Dr. Frank Beall and H. C. Lampe of Fort Worth; John Fortson of Rice, J. C. Samuel Wister Johnson was born at Dawsonville, Ga., Feb. 11, 1854. He graduated from the Atlanta Medical College, Bellevue, N. Y., and went to practice his profession at Ennis in 1880. Soon afterward he was married to Miss Kate Beaton of Corsicana, and went to that city, where he practiced for many years.
Started Oil Development Dr. Johnson was one of the first to realize the possibilities of the oil field of Corsicana and to undertake developments. He was prominently identified in the business of Corsicana as president of the Corsicana National Bank. He served as Mayor of Corsicana and was for many years president of the School Board.
Dr. Johnson's first wife died in 1904, and a few years later he moved to Dallas. H married Miss Sarah Pace of Dallas twelve years ago. On coming to Dallas Dr. Johnson organized the Lone Star Life Insurance Company and was president of the company until its consolidation with the Great Southern Life. Since that time he has been retired.
Dr. Johnson is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. W. G. Clarkson and Mrs. Emily Pearl Polk of Fort Worth and Mrs. Earle Fortson of Corsicana; a son, Samuel Mercer Johnson, 10 years old; two brothers, Cone Johnson of Tyler and Dr. Clay Johnson of Fort Worth, and two sisters, Mrs. W. E. Matchett of Dallas and Mrs. H. M. McHan of Georgia.
He was a Mason and a Knight Templar.

Retired Railroad Man Of Corsicana Dies Here
S. D. Johnson, 70, of Corsicana, a retired railroad man, died Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Roland Martin, 5819 eVlasco, following a brief illness. He was in the employ of the Cotton Belt Railroad for more than twenty years.
Surviving Mr. Johnson are two daughters, Mrs. Martin and Miss Rose Johnson, Dallas, and two sisters, Mrs. Gus Hoover, Dallas, and Mrs. J. F. Gaston, Vinita, Ok.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Corsicana where he is to be buried.

JOHNSON - Samuel Wistar Johnson Jr., 33 years old, died Thursday night at his farm near Lewisville, Denton County. Funeral services will be held in the Loudermilk Chapel tomorrow morning, after which the body will be taken to Corsicana, where the burial will take place at 11 o'clock. Mr. Johnson, who was a son of Dr. S. A. Johnson of Dallas, is survived by his wife, who was formerly Miss Ruby Key of Corsicana, and by a son and three sisters, Mrs. A. W. Polk of Dallas, Mrs. Ben Fortson of Corsicana and Mrs. Wiley Clarkson of Fort Worth. Mr. Johnson was well known in Dallas, where he resided up to a few years ago.

Johnson - The body of S. W. Johnson Jr., who died at Denton Oct. 24, aged 33 years, will be forwarded to Corsicana this morning by Undertaker Loudermilk, where funeral services will be held this afternoon. The body will be accompanied by Dr. Clay Johnson of Fort Worth, brother of the deceased.

A native of Virginia, Mr. Johnson had lived in Navarro County for fifty years. Wiley Johnson, 83, mother of Congressman Luther Johnson of the Sixth Texas District, and a native of Navarro County, died at her home here at 9 o'clock Thursday night. Mrs. Johnson was born at Dresden but had resided in Corsicana sixty-one years. Her husband died in 1924.
Funeral services will be held here at 5 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.

Mary Johnston

Mrs. Martha Johnston, who would have been 93 years old on June 13 next, died Friday night at her home, 1419 West Fourth avenue. Mrs. Johnston was born June 13, 1832, in Sumpter County, Alabama. She was married to Capt. Robert B. Johnston Aug. 25, 1853. After the marriage the couple came to Centerville, Leon County and settled. In 1868 they moved to Navarro County. She was the mother of eight children, only three of whom survive as follows: R. B. Johnston, Corsicana; W. B. Johnston, Birmingham, Ala., and H. C. Johnston of Louisiana. The other children now dead were S. S. Johnston, Mary Irene Johnston, G. E. Johnston, Mary Irene Johnston, G. E. Johnston, Walter H. Johnston and Emma B. Walton, deceased wife of C. C. Walton.

Harry Johnson, Corsicana, Dies
CORSICANA, Texas, April 2. - Funeral rites for Harry D. Johnson, 86, who died Wednesday following a heart attack last week end, were held from St. John's Episcopal Church Thursday. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.
A native of Dublin, Ireland, he came to Corsicana in November, 1882. He was a druggist for years and later was a grocer, banker, Navarro County auditor from 1912 to 1916, and had bee secretary-treasurer of the Corsicana Federal Savings and Loan Association since its organization in 1934. He had been treasurer of St. John's Episcopal Church since 1918.
Johnson was past grand patriarch of the grand encampment, and past commander, department of Texas canton, IOOF, and a Mason and Knight Templar.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Joe Daniel, Kerens; a son, W. A. Lang, Corsicana; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Frances Johnson To Be Buried Monday
Funeral services for Mrs. Frances M. Johnson, 64, of 1142 Elmdale, who was found dead Saturday with a pistol beside her at Elmwood and Clinton, Oak Cliff, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at a Corsicana Methodist Church. Burial will be in Corsicana. A verdict of gunshot wounds, suicidal, was returned by Justice J. H. Moore after a Coroner's inquest.

CORSICANA, Texas, Jan. 14. - Mrs. Florence Johnson, 38, died at Mildred Monday. The funeral will be held Tuesday with burial in the Grady Cemetery, Ellis County. Surviving are her husband and other relatives.

E. A. Johnson, 84, I.O.O.F. Leader, Dies at Corsicana
Native of England, Long Active in Civic Work, to Be Buried Saturday
Corsicana, Texas, Jan. 29. - Dr. E. A. Johnson, 84, pioneer businessman and an outstanding leader in I.O.O.F. Lodge circles of Texas for many years, died at his home early Friday. Funeral services will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church of which Dr. Johnson had been a longtime member.
Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Clayton D. Browne of Dallas; six grandchildren; two brothers, H. D. Johnson of Corsicana and Dr. Walter Johnson of Manchester, England, and three sisters, Misses Mary and Alice Johnson of Manchester, England, and Mrs. J. A. McQueen of Penticlon, British Columbia.
Dr. Johnson was born in England and lived at Cape of Good Hope, South Africa, and Dublin, Ireland, before moving to Corsicana in 1879.
He was a member of the Board of Aldermen for eight or ten years and was Mayor for four years. During his term as Mayor the public library was constructed. He served long terms of the school and library boards.
Soon after the founding of the I.O.O.F. Widows and Orphans' Home here in 188s, Dr. Johnson became affiliated with that order in Corsicana Lodge No. 63, as well as in all capacities of the Texas Grand Lodge, I.O.O.F.
He was grand master of the grand lodge, I.O.O.F., and also served for years on the home board, as well as a long tenure as chairman of the home school board. He was treasurer of the local subordinate lodge for thirty-eight years.

JOHNSON - Corsicana, Texas, Nov. 7. - B. W. Johnson, aged 74 years, of Wortham, who has been under treatment at the Physicians and Surgeons' Hospital here for some time, died there yesterday, and the body was sent to Wortham from burial. He is survived by his wife and four grown children.

CORSICANA, Texas, Sept. 30 - Emil C. Kumke, 69, native of Germany but resident of America for fifty-seven years and of Corsicana forty-eight years, died suddenly Monday from a heart attack. The funeral will be held Tuesday, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, a son, Karl Kumke of Corsicana, a daughter, Mrs. Thelma Thorne, Corsicana; three sisters Mrs. Mrs. Lang, Mrs. Gulda Markia and Mrs. James Smith, all of Houston.

LIVINGSTON. - Corsicana, Texas. May 21. - Funeral services for James H. Livingston, 65, lifelong resident of Navarro County, who died at his home in the Richland community early Sunday, were held Monday afternoon with burial in the Richland Cemetery.
The rites were conducted by the Rev. Jimmie Langston of Wortham.
Surviving are his wife; a son, W. E. Livingston of Richland; and a sister, Mrs. J. A. Johnston of Dallas.

T. P. Little Dies at Home in Corsicana
CORSICANA, Texas, Dec. 25. - T. P. Little, 70 years old, prominent Navarro County farmer, died at his home near here at 1:10 o'clock Thursday afternoon. The funeral will take place Friday afternoon from the family home at 1 o'clock with burial in the Hamilton Cemetery.
Mr. Little is survived by his wife and four children as follows; D. A. Little, Dallas; Rufus Little, Archie Little and Miss Emma Little, all of Corsicana. He had been a resident of Navarro County for many years.

M. H. Love, 74 years old, 2930 Grand avenue, died Friday afternoon at 1:20 o'clock. He is survived by his wife, four sons, A. A. Love and Emory Love of Dallas, C. W. Love of Corsicana and M. H. Love of Justin, and three sisters, Mrs. C. C. Harvey and Mrs. T. H. Stark of Kleburg, and Mrs. C. H. Johnson of Dallas. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
