Sgt. Alvarez
died Wednesday, February 20,
2008 in Baghdad, Iraq, after
their vehicle was hit by a bomb.
Alvarez was an infantryman
assigned to A Co., 1st
Battalion, 502nd Infantry
Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat
Team. He entered the Army in
March 2005 and arrived at Fort
Campbell in August 2005.

Sgt. Gary Wayne Jeffries of Roscoe, Nolan Co.,
TX was killed Monday, January 28, 2008 in Mosul, Iraq.
He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 8th
Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry
Division, Fort Carson, CO; he joined the Army in 1997. Submitted

TEX MEACHEM DIES
In March, 2010, when the WASP
were awarded the Congressional Gold Medal, in
recognition of their service to the country, Tex was
present for all of the ceremonies and events. A few
weeks later she was given the opportunity to fly
once again in an AT-6 Texan, which had been her
favorite plane to fly as a WASP.

Ethel Meyer
Finley entered the Women's
Flying Training Detachment at Avenger Field, Sweetwater,
Texas in Class 43-W-5. She received Primary Instruction
in the Fairchild PT19, Basic in the BT 13 and Advanced
Training in the AT6 and Twin Engine in the UC78. In
September 1943 she graduated as a Woman Airforce Service
Pilot (WASP). Finley has been active in many aspects of
the WASP WWII organization. She served as Region I
Director 1986-1988 and was on the Memorial and Awards
Committee. In 1992 Finley was elected National
President. From 1993 to 1998 she was Editor of the WASP
News. Since 1988 she as Chair for Air Shows and Special
Events and in 1998 she became Region 1 Director.

WASP Instructor
Dies
Nathan Alan Trager, passed
away June 29, 2012. "Nat" was a U.S. aviation icon
and flight instructor of U.S. Army Air Corps WASPs,
Avenger Field, Sweetwater, Texas, during World War
II, and an airport operator after the war, business
man and family man.

GERTRUDE
MARCIA (WENZEL) MILNER
Beginning at the early age of
15, she would fly not just small planes, but also
many large World War II bombers, including the B-26,
B-29 and B-17 Flying Fortress. She was born and
lived as a gifted, independent, extraordinary bird -
a WASP (Women's Air Service Pilots). In recognition
of her service during WWII, she was honored with the
Congressional Gold Medal in 2010.

Millie Dalrymple was born Feb. 14,
1920; died Nov. 14, 2012. She was
a member of the WASP in WWII, towing
targets, transporting military people
piloting B17 and B24 bombers.

"Dobbin" Auchterlonie, 95. Lois was born
April 14, 1917, on a farm, east of
Viola, Kan. to parents Thomas M and Alma
R. Dobbin; she passed away peacefully on
March 24, 2013, following a fall at her
home in Snohomish Wash.
