ZILCH posted by Melinda Beard on Saturday, September 29, 2001

My family found a headstone made from a rock in one of our pastures. The name is not one of past land owners, and our family has owned the property for over 20 years. The name is OSCAR ZILCH. There is no date. Wondering if anyone knew him or if possibly he was a cattleman that may have passed away while driving cattle across Texas. The headstone was found under a tree down by the creek off Lution Drive in Weatherford. Any info appreciated. bdenise531@aol.com Melinda Beard

James Caloway "Bob" Brewer, born 16 June 1851 in Jacks Creek, McNairy County, Tennessee; died 14 March 1932 in Azle, Parker County, Texas buried Ashcreek Cemetery, Azle, Parker County, Texas; married Margaret Adeline Brewer Bet. 1870 - 1872 in McNairy County, Tennessee; born 31 May 1847 in North Carolina; died Abt. 1917 in Azle, Tarrant County, Texas. Martha C. Brewer, born 1853 in Tennessee. Mary C. Brewer, born 1855 in McNairy County, Tennessee; married Allen Peter Plunk 21 August 1877 in Selmer McNairy County, Tennessee; born 1856 in McNairy County, Tennessee. John Franklin Brewer, born 2 July 1856 in McNairy County, Tennessee; died 26 June 1940 in Duncan, Stephens County, Oklahoma buried Weaver Chapel Cemetery, Stephens County, Oklahoma, Death certificate # OK 11618; married Sally Tennessee Young Abt. 1880 in Jacks Creek, Chester County, Tennessee. Tinsley G. Nancy Jane Sewell is the dau of Oliver Perry Sewell and ?Sleeta Jane Jackson. Oliver Perry and Sleeta Jane Sewell are buried in the same plot as the Brewer's along with several of their children in Springtown. A letter from James C. Brewer’s son Leland Marshall Brewer, dated 1955, indicates that W.H. Brewer was an orphan. It is not known if Brewer is his name or the name of his adopted parents. He settled on a farm next to John Jackie Brewer (not related) in McNairy County, Tennessee. James C. Brewer married Margaret Adeline Brewer, daughter of John Jackie and Martha Austin. Both James C. and Margaret Brewer are buried in Ashcreek Cemetery, Azle, Parker County Texas. Marshall further confuses the issue by stating that his name was William Harry Brewer. W.H. Brewer’s death certificate, completed by Tinsley G. Brewer, his son, clearly indicates Harvey for a middle name.
