GENERAL ELECTION NOVEMBER 20, 1880 John Edgar was elected sheriff from 1880 through the terms of 1882, 1884, 1886, and 1888. He was elected Sheriff in the General Election of November 10, 1890 but failed to make bond in the required length of time; his bondsmen served notice that they wished to be released from bonding John Edgar. The office declared a vacancy on December 2, 1890 and the bondsmen were called on to pay the indebtedness. On this same date W. P. Matthews was appointed Sheriff & Tax collector.
