Our Purpose

The Rains county Genealogical Society was founded in 1997 to promote the history of Rains County Texas and its people. The Rains County Genealogical Society is a non-profit, membership organization dedicated to helping people connect with their ancestry and research their family histories. The purposes of the society are:

• To bring together persons who are researching family history and to promote fellowship and cooperation among them;
• To encourage, stimulate and share ideas, information and methods in family research and act as a training agency for persons interested in research;
• To Collect, preserve and make available to interested persons material on family history with special emphasis on research material concerning past and present families in the Rains County area;
• To cooperate whenever possible with other similar societies and associations interested in history and genealogy.
