TSLAC has recently acquired maps from the State Fire Marshal's Office. These are street/plat maps of cities and towns throughout the state, from the 1920s-1990s, showing streets, rivers, creeks, some buildings, water lines/mains, fire hydrants, etc. The fire marshal maps are original manuscript maps that will likely not be found elsewhere, especially the early maps. Some of the Robertson County maps in this collection are hyperlinked below:

August 28, 1913 - February 1928 Fire Insurance Map Of Calvert
Published by State Fire Insurance Commission, Austin, Texas

From The Holdings Of The Texas State Archives

September 1943 - October 1951 Fire Insurance Map Of Calvert
Published by Texas Fire Insurance Department, Engineering Division, Austin, Texas

From The Holdings Of The Texas State Archives

Sponsorship charges for TSLAC maps include the following fees to bring each map online: (1) transparency fee to TSLAC of $30, (2) oversize set-up fees of $0 - $50+, (3) digitization fee of $15, (4) shipping & handling charges.

Texas General Land Office (GLO)
Map Collection

While GLO may have 17 online maps listed for Robertson County at GLO Online Map Index For Robertson County, these maps are virtually inaccessible online to the general public (see Problems With GLO Online Maps).  Since these maps have already been scanned and digitized, it is hoped that the Texas A&M Digital Library or some similar organization will obtain these map files from GLO and display these maps at readable resolution levels on appropriate library and archive websites.

If you are aware of other Robertson County maps that are held in
public or private collections, please contact  William Kent Brunette.

The message "No Imaging:  Needs To Be Sponsored" in the "Status" box above indicates that a map needs to be photographed and reproduced as a color film transparency.  Each transparency will then be digitized and placed online at the Robertson County TXGenWeb site at www.robertsoncounty.info.  A hyperlink to each sponsored map (that can be clicked on for online viewing) will then appear in the status box.  Each hyperlink will be accompanied by: "Map sponsored by XYZ" [the person or company contributing money to bring it online].  After being placed online, these maps will remain at the Robertson County TXGenWeb site indefinitely.  Each map will also be donated to the U.S. Library Of Congress (USLOC) & Texas State Archives & Library Commission (TSLAC) for permanent placement in their map collections & online display on their websites.  These donated maps, which will be available to interested researchers through USLOC & TSLAC, will be suitable for most research, publication, digital, film, or video applications.
