Secretary of State

Sir

I had the honor some time since to receive your Letter of 18th April last, informing me of my appointment to the Consulate for the District and inclosing my Commission accompanied with printed circular Instructions and a Blank consular Bond, which last I have executed according to your directions and now forward it to the United States to be completed and transmitted to your Department- Having therefore accepted the appointment I wait only its acknowledgement by this Government to enter formally into the exercise of my Official duties.
