"Tracklaying started north out of Sinton, and by March 26, 1905, a point in Welder's pasture was reached, which was then designated as Section Twenty-eight, and later named Ewelder, after Elizabeth Welder, wife of John J. Welder.  The Aransas River was then reached, and the bridging of the stream was completed on March 11, enabling the track-layers to push on towards Refugio, where they lay the next passing track down at a point named Cranell.  Cranell was named after Nell Crane, wife of Vice-president and General Manager, Jeff N. Miller.  The rails reached the Mission River on May 20, and Refugio in early July..."
