Dear Sir: Here I’m writing my first letter to my hometown paper that I have been receiving, reading and enjoying very much. No kidding, Sir, because I really like to know what’s going on back home, even my buddies like to read the Timely Remarks. I almost feel sorry for not writing any sooner, but I guess that you people realize that sometimes its impossible to write even to your own folks, as you know your own folks come first. Now guess I’ll tell you a little about what our
outfit has helped to do since we have been overseas we have helped to
break the Gustav, Hitler lines and we also helped to liberate Now we are still sweating it out hoping that this thing will end soon so we can all come home to our loved ones. I hope that all my kin folks and friends don’t think that I’m bragging because I’m not. You know Mr. Snooks, there should be something in the paper all the time about the boys, being that there are quite a few of us Refugio boys in the army. But probably the reason why they don’t write is because they are just as busy as I am. Think this ends my letter so be good, all of you. Oh yes, one more thing, I won’t keep you all guessing what part we are playing in this man’s army we are motormen. Sincerely yours, Sgt. Henry M. Rocha Sgt. J.W. Lawrence |
