Be it remembered that on the last Monday of May the 25th A.D. 1840 -- The Honorable Probate Court for the County of Refugio met at the Court House at the Town of the Mission of Refugio and was organized according to law.  Present the Hon. Benjamin F. Neal Judge of the Probate Court, James Byrne Clerk and Jeremiah Findley Sheriff.

"There being no Book of record of proceedings in the Probate Courts heretofore holden in the County of Refugio, but that each case having been kept upon separate pieces of paper --- It is therefore ordered by this court that the names of the several cases be entered on record according to the date when they were acted upon by the Probate Court."

1.  Letters of administration granted to Peter Teal upon the estate of George McKnight on the 29th July 1839.

2.  Letter of administration granted to John W. Bowers ___ day of August 1839 upon the estate of Elizabeth O Brien [O'Brien] deceased.

3.  Letters of administration granted to John Fagan on 26th day of August 1839 upon the estate of John Williams Deceased.

4.  Letters of administration granted to John W. Bowers the 26th day of August 1839 upon the estate of Andrew OBrien [O'Brien] deceased -

5.  Letters of administration granted to Patrick Lawler the 26th day of August 1839 upon the estate of Martin Lawler deceased -

6.  Letters of administration granted to James Powers the 30th day of September 1839 on the estate of Daniel Kean deceased.

7.  The will of John Williams deceased was duly proven in Court on the 26th day of August 1839 and the Clerk of the Court ordered to register the same -

8.  Letters of administration granted to James Powers the 28th of October 1839 upon the estate of Simeon Kahoe deceased -

9.  Letters of administration granted to John Armstrong the 31st December 1839 upon the estate of John C. Pierce deceased -

10.  John Armstrong having filed his Petition praying that the will of Edward O'Boyle be probated and that letters testamentary issue thereon.  It is ordered by the court that public notice be given of the same according to law.

Richard Pearce having filed his Petition praying the appointment of administrator on the estate of William H. Hunter deceased - It is ordered by the Court that public notice be given of the same according to law.

It is ordered that this court adjourn sine die.
