Be it remembered that on the 16th day of May A.D. 1842. The Honrble Probate Court for the County of Refugio met at Rancho de Carlos in vacation.  Present Benj. F. Neal Judge of Probate and Jno. W.B. McFarlane Clk.

 

 

Philip Howards [Howard] Petition

The aforesaid Petitioner having this day filed his petition praying the appointment of administrator on the Estate of John McSherry decd.  It is ordered by the Court that the Clerk of the Court give public notice of the same according to law.

[Note: Per Hobart Huson's Refugio, Vol. I, page 469, Philip Howard was married to John McSherry's mother.  John McSherry was kidnapped by Indians in 1836 and rescued the same year by Lieutenant Joseph Rogers.]
