Probate Records and Wills |

|
Early Probate Minutes are included here because of the numerous names involved. This type of record helps to place a person in an area between census dates, as well as to narrow down dates of death. The following is the first entry in the Probate Records: Republic of Texas, } On October 12, 1840, it was ordered by the Court that the Sheriff take possession of the Public Property known as the Stone Church and procure benches, tables and locks for it as necessary. This, it is assumed, was the first Courthouse for Refugio County. |
