Basketball Game Between Refugio and Tivoli

The following transcription was made from the original newspaper on file at Refugio County Historical Museum, Refugio, Texas.  

The Refugio High School basketball team played the Tivoli High School team Wednesday afternoon, January 24, at 4:15 .  This game marked the first game to be played on Refugio’s new basketball court.  Although the Refugio team was defeated by a score of 20 to 21, they have not yet given up the hope of beating Tivoli .  The Refugio team had Tivoli beaten up to the last minute of play when Tivoli made another two points which left Refugio with a score of 20 while Tivoli’s was 21.  The Refugio team made an attractive group on the field in their new orange suits.  The members of the team have been working hard to build up their team for the county meet, where they hope to take first place.
