Posted: July 11, 2008 Octogenarian Members of RHA Celebrate Birthdays Peter Gessner turned 80 in April, Thomas Goertz reached 86 on July 7th and Father Bernard Goertz celebrated his 80th on July 4th.
The birthday observance took place at the Red Rock Grocery where Joyce served a delicious meal of fried catfish with all the trimmings and a favorite desert. Everyone toasted each other’s good health and then enjoyed a lively discussion. The group call themselves the “Old Fossils Club” (OFC) and have been meeting on Mondays since the early 90’s. The birthday “boys” are all very active. Father Bernard is on the RHA Board of Directors, Thomas helped build the Goertz cabin and remains active, Peter supports the community as a volunteer Honor Guard member.
