In Memory of Sarah Ann PORCHThe subject of this sketch was born in Tallapoosa county, Ala., Jan. 25th, 1838; was married to Bryant Porch, Jan. 29th, 1852, and died near Atoka , May 27th, 1906, aged 68 years, and was laid to rest at Midway burying ground. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Stodard of Glen Cove, who paid a high tribute to the memory of this noble woman. Mrs. Porch was converted and joined the M. E. church in her girlhood days and lived a faithful, conscientious Christian until her death. During her four weeks of suffering she bore up with Christian fortitude. She frequently called her children around her bed and admonished them to be noble men and women, and be good and kind to each other and meet her in heaven. She leaves an aged and infirm companion. May the God who directed her through her life and stood by her in death, lead him in his declining years, just as he did her. And her children! may the prayers of a devoted mother ever be cherished by them. May they emulate her noble life, live as she lived, die as she died, triumphant in the Lord. Her Brother |
