00000 - White - General
These books are Directories, Almanacs, How-to books, Government records
such as Legislative reports, Travel guides,
Maps, Research guides, Courthouse records, County records and Church
records.
00001 - Purple - Immigration/Emigration
Ethnic groups, Migration records, Naturalization records, Ship lists
00002 - Light Green - Census and Related Lists
Federal, State and County census index and or records, Tax rolls, Poll
lists, Pension records, lists of soldiers or
patriots or signers of oath (all records that are lists of names only
00003 - Red - Index
Index is used only where there is an index but the library does not have
the book related to the index. This category
does not apply to Index to Wills, which usually refer to courthouse
records
00004 - Orange - History
This category includes a broad coverage of history; Colonial, Church,
American Revolution, Civil War, War of 1812 etc.,
County, Genealogical and Family. Also has Newspaper Queries.
00005 - Gray - Military and Patriotic Societies
DAR, DRT, SRT, SAR, Mayflower, etc., applicable to a particular state.
Other similar records are located in the reference
section of the Library.
00006 - Yellow - Property Records
Bounty and Land warrants, Deeds, Early land grants, Patents, Map of land
owners, All records pertaining to land.
00007 - Blue - Probate Records
Wills, Estates, Inventories, Orphans court, Probate.
00008 - Pink -Vital Records
Births, Deaths, Cemeteries, Obituaries, Marriages, Bible Records.
00009 - Dark Green - Fraternal and Alliance Records
Grangers, Hibernian, Odd Fellows, Herman Sons, Masons and Woodmen of the
World State, State or County, & Category
