First Families of Bexar County, Texas, a project sponsored by the San Antonio Genealogical & Historical Society, is in its ninth year and the society is eager to qualify more families for the special recognition.
If one or more of your ancestors lived in Bexar County, Texas, no later than August 1, 1850, when the 1850 U.S. Census was taken, you can qualify. Bexar County covered a large part of West Texas in 1850 so it is likely that, even if your ancestor lived in another Texas county later, he might have been a Bexar resident before August 1, 1850.
